Turned up for our pre-booked table only to find the restaurant closed. Nothing to say why on the premises. Have heard really good things about it so disappointed.

Lovely little place, great service. Food is excellent and at a reasonable price. The Nepalese dishes are lovely and certainly worth a try. Very big portions. You won’t be left wanting after a meal here.

Lovely fresh ingredients. Good service and central for Edinburgh fringe locations. We always pre-book to be sure of a table as it can get very busy.

Excellent little restaurant. Great food, great staff, great location. What more could you want?! You might miss this little gem up a small side street in the city but I highly recommend that you pay it a visit. You won’t be disappointed.

Great food and service from Kumar and team - as always. Chicken MoMo for starters were delicious and the lamb karai was excellent and very fresh. Unusual to find date nan but they were very tasty.

All 4 of us enjoyed lovely food at Ginger last night and although the restaurant was less than half-full, we had to wait a while for our dishes to be served - perhaps this means they were all freshly cooked, which makese the wait worthwhile. However, the rice was served a little after the main courses, so that their temperature was lower than it should have been by the time the rice was served. The restaurant could do with having heated trays on the table to keep the dishes at least warm. And we all would have liked dips for the starters to be served in self-service bowls, rather than in tiny splodges served on each person's plate.

Useful location near the Festival Theatre meant a more relaxed meal before an opera, with quiet, unobtrusive, friendly service and interesting food. My companion had been before to this fairly new place and was keen to go again; I could understand why.

The food was excellent, freshly prepared and perfect size of portion. The restaurant is quite small, very comfortable and nice and warm. The waiter was welcoming and attentive. Location is very handy for the Potterrow area of Edinburgh University.

Excellent meal, lovely flavours, well presented and just delicious! This restaurant is a great place to enjoy a curry. Must recommend the special Ginger chicken. In fact, the 4 of us dining together thoroughly enjoyed it all. Very good service as well. Cannot commend Ginger highly enough. Any curry lover should visit.

A delicious meal, freshly cooked and delicately flavoured. I particularly liked the date and ginger nan bread- the ginger theme is threaded through the menu. Pleasant staff, maybe a little slow but that means the food is fresh. I'll be back.

Disappointed that the menu did not contain more Nepalese dishes on the menu! If we wanted “Indian cuisine we would have booked into one . Food ok though . Very close proximity to the theatre !

Food was very tasty, but one dish was served luke warm. All the main courses were served in cold bowls. Service was excellent. We saw the delivery man (at 6pm) caring a huge bag (the size of a coal bag) of chicken breasts through the front door. A little off-putting!

An excellent little Indian & Nepalese restaurant just round the corner from the Festival Theatre in Edinburgh. Fresh tasting light starters and what appeared to be freshly cooked mains. Would recommend highly, particularly for pre or post theatre meal.

A lovely experience. We had two wheelchairs in a group of four people and Kumar could not have been more helpful. My only reservation is the amount of salt in the food but that seems to be standard in all of this type of cuisine.

We booked the table in advance but had to wait for 15 mins to be sitted. Then no high chair was provided despite of request. They didn't inform us earlier about this. To add icing on the cake, they called me half way through the Dinner and asked if I will be coming to the restrau or not?? Epic!! Food was average. Not close to authentic Indian food. I would not recommend this place if you want a good service and authentic indian food.

A worthy contender for the Indian Restaurant of the Year (though it's actually Nepalese!). A lovely meal for three of us, all with different starters and mains, all perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. We'll be back - again and again.

A clean, straightforward dining experience. The service was polite and efficient and the food was delicious. The spiced onions were incredibly spicy but the flavours were impressive, perhaps have the raitha on hand to accompany it. Prices were very reasonable too, so all told a worthwhile place to go for dinner.

The vegetarian meals both parties had were very tasty. A feast of poppadoms, starters of paneer tikka and very good vegetable pakora followed by saag mushroom and a paneer dish. The staff were attentive and pleasant. Overall an enjoyable dining experience!

Just there for a quick dinner pre-theatre but we really enjoyed the experience. It is not a big place so we were glad we had booked a table. The poppadoms and pickles were lovely, and the main dishes and accompaniments were very tasty too. The portions were just right for us (senior citizens) and we ate the lot. Very satisfied with the quality and service. Just one minor issue - we would like to have shared a vegetable side dish but there wasn't much on offer in this respect; although such things were on the menu as vegetarian main dishes.

Great flavours and reasonable prices. This may not be the most glamorous of restaurants when it comes to interior décor. However the staff a friendly, place is spotlessly clean and the food is much better than other places in the area.
