A noisy pub full of fun and laughing, limited menu but the food was good , staff serving were warm and helpful.. would go again. We went on a Saturday evening
Had a lovely evening out the pub and restaurant was full, food was very good, service was excellent would definitely recommend to anyone will be going back again soon
Good honest old pub. Justifyingly popular. Great range of beer! Friendly staff. Plenty of parking. Enjoyable lunch strongly recommend. Will go back when next in area
Lovely meal chosen from a menu of home cooked food offering a good variety of dishes. Very cosy, warm atmosphere and polite and attentive staff. Will definitely eat here again. Thank you.
Lovely friendly staff & a great roast would highly recommend, lovely pub in a rural setting. Great menu & Food came very quickly after ordering,
Very poor service and food. Our order was taken twice due to an error first time. We waited an hour and a half for our starter. When the food came, the roast meat was ok but the vegetables were burnt and ugly. They knocked the cost of our drinks off the meal (which took over 3 hours in all) after an embarrassing argument, but it did not make up for a very bad experience. We shall not be going to the Surrey Oaks again.
Lovely pub and garden, great range of interesting ciders and beers, kid friendly atmosphere. Menu not very inspiring, but food tasty. A kids menu or portions would have been helpful.
Excellent and friendly service, good food & pleasant atmosphere - I went there with my family and everyone enjoyed it very much - thoroughly recommend!
Parfait . Accueil impeccable. Un réel effort pour se mettre à la portée malgre notre anglais tres moyen. Service irréprochable. Repas très bon . A recommander.
Sunday lunch was not good at all.Very disappointing .Meat was very dry,not enough gravy, vegetables was not cooked enough and all thing was very bland. Sunday roast 3 difference Meat
Good bank holiday lunch . Service was quick and efficient. It got very busy later in the afternoon as there was a festival on. Will return.
Great food, atmosphere and music 10/10. Very generous portions. The festival beer tent was really good with great music acts. Bla bla bla bla bla
Back home after 5 weeks and back home to the Surrey Oaks. The warmest of welcomes and still the best pizza despite many wonderful offerings across France and Spain. It was truly good to be back!
Food good, fish in particular nicely cooked and menu adventurous. service very pleasant but soooo slow! Suspect these lovely staff would benefit from extra training.
Fantastic pub, great atmosphere and garden, perfect for friends and family to enjoy. We went and it was the prosecco and pizza event with live music. It was amazing!
The pub itself is lovely - real oldy worldy with a wonderful outside space. The service really lets the place down however. The staff appear very inexperienced and completely disorganised, which meant service was very slow. Quality of food was okay but not great - I expected better.
Excellent service & food & great choice of wines and fresh coffee too menu caters for all lots of choice and top quality highly recommend
Lovely food; good venue with sunny and shady outdoor spaces; very friendly and efficient service; one of 2 favourite places to eat in the area.
Very good. I always enjoy eating at the Surrey Oaks. Food is always good at this pub. I also like the range of beers available
Excellent country pub. Decent food and good local beers on tap. Large beer garden and outside parking. Nuce team serving. Will revisit soon. I hear their beer festival is very good
Enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast lamb with all the trimmings & an added Italian twist with hints of pesto & olive oil dressing on the perfectly cooked fresh vegetables. The friendly & professional staff made our visit extra special.
Food was disappointing, okay taste but not a lot to it for the price. Service was good and I would have been happy if I had just been having a drink there.
A lovely atmosphere and lovely selection of beers. Sadly there were various dishes, main course and deserts that weren’t available this evening. What was available was to a high standard quality pub food . Thank you
Sent food back twice. The first burgers both came out with mouldy bread so they were sent back. Then one of the replacements was raw. The service was slow even though there was an abundance of staff. Awful.
The food was excellent as was the atmosphere. A good choice of menu and an excellent choice of local beers. A great place to eat or drink and a welcoming group of local people
Prompt service friendly staff but very loud Food was ok but seemed to have been rushed out rather than prepared with care Steak was in need of a good bashing ... good flavour but a bit hard to chew & the steak knives need sharpening ..... by no means a bad experience but could have been a great one
Lovely meal, both had fish as our main course and it was delicious but could trace done with a bit more sauce, very friendly service and value for money, will definitely be back.
Quality if food and drinks brilliant. Whilst the new owners have kept the previous style the restaurant still needs some tlc. The only other point is that on the day of visit, the vegetarian menu options had been reduced ?
Good interesting menu, deliciously cooked and served with loads of attentive enthusiasm & care. It was our first supper here and we're definitely coming again.
Yet another superb meal at the Surrey Oaks. Refreshed menu was a delight and the new dishes were excellent. As always it is the Surrey Oaks team tbat put the icing on the cake. Mad busy, but never fail to be super helpful, smiley and fun. A great night.
It was a very friendly pub with very helpful staff. The food was delicious and we didn’t,t have to wait long. Will definitely visit the pub again.
Pub is a bit dingy and tatty - not like the photos on line. An enormous heap of food was served making the meal a bit unappetizing. Would have preferred vegetables in a separate dish and less chicken. Half a chicken carcass on the plate wasn't really necessary for most of our party although it was nicely cooked. The whole leek on each plate was tough and inedible. Won't be going again.
Greeting as we arrived.. food hot and tasty. We had Sunday carvery which was lovely..my only criticism, not many green vegetables. Would recommend to anyone
Second visit in a couple of weeks. All food excellent again and on the whole very good value. Only exception was the ice cream dessert - three smallish scoops with no biscuit / garnish / sauce etc seemed quite expensive for £5.25
Had a warm welcome. Staff were very attentive. Food was excellent. There was a roaring fire which was very welcoming as it was an awful night but well worth the trip. Pub could do with a lick of paint but we went for the food which was more important. Would go again.
We enjoyed the very pleasant pub for Sunday lunch. It was our first visit under this management and were not disappointed. Good food and a good range of quality drinks.
Lovely cosy atmosphere by a log fire with good wholesome food from a simple but varied menu and best of all terrific selection of well kept beers.
It's our regular haunt anyway but we don't usually eat Sunday roast here as we were disappointed after a lunch for Mother's Day a couple of years ago. However, yesterday, lunch for seven was really good. An excellent vegetarian option for me. I usually have to ask for a roast lunch without the meat, but there was a roast for non meat eaters. Everybody else throughly enjoyed their lunch and the service was very attentive.
Excellent service. Interesting and varied menu. Delicious. Looking forward to another visit to taste some of the other dishes. Good value for money. Friendly ambience.
As ever, the food was excellent (the mixed game suet pudding was a particular favourite), the beer was beautifully kept and the atmosphere warm and welcoming.
Now our favourite local place to eat. Superb food in a great setting. Full marks to the relatively new owners for keeping the brilliant team of staff together, the pub would be so much less of a joy to visit without them.
The pub was really busy so we had to wait a little for our table. The food coming out looked delicious and wnd we were not disappointed when we tasted it.
Lovely location and atmosphere with excellent food and service. We sat at a table by the log fire for a leisurely late Sunday lunch. A good range of beers and wine too.
Great atmosphere and good food. Very friendly village pub. Would thoroughly recommend.
Food was great !! Staff are v.friendly and helpful we were there on a very busy Friday night and they Coped very very well we didn’t have to wait for our food even know they were rushed off their feet very professional
We were a party of 7 who had drinks at lunch at The Surrey Oaks. Great friendly staff and a good selection of ales. Most of us really enjoyed our meals, but unfortunately one of our party had serious food poisoning for 24 hours after having the Pheasant canon, so it put a bit of a damper on the experience.
