Food Ok.Wee bit overpriced but you can live with that. Bill came & they charged us for double spirit measures instead of single measures. Not very impressed by that, check your bill
Once again really enjoyed meal asked waitress to compliment chef only down side would be that we looked at menu on line before and that menu was different and less expensive however birthday celebration and would definitely be back 😘
Really enjoyed the lunch and restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. Food was excellent and price reflected this .Would recommend to friends and would definitely visit again .
The staff were friendly and helpful. the vegetarian choice was very limited, but the chef offered to do a dish from the evening menu for me.
Enjoyed our meal, pie of the day, chicken, and the smoked haddock risotto. Followed by the pecan pie and key lime pie sundae. Good service from very friendly staff
Pleasant atmosphere with friendly staff and good food. It was really busy but the staff coped well and there was no long wait for food
No problem parking. Very popular. Everyone's meal looked very appetising. Service was personal and efficient. Would recommend booking. Good choice of beers. Good atmosphere. Give it. A try.
Booked a table late on and was glad there was availability. Service was good and the food was enjoyed by all. Would definitely recommend it.
A great bowl of cullen skink , one of the best tasted, as for the steak it was jucie tasty and beautiful, a lovely family meal for my daughters q9th Birthday.
Friendly staff, made to feel welcome, great menu excellent value for money. Highly recommend for a relaxed comfortable catch up with friends, no overpowering music to shout over.
Friendly service with good banter. Food was good and desserts were very nice. It was a good portion for a Sunday roast. I would go again
Excellent service despite being very busy. Food to a high standard as expected and Steak cooked exactly as requested. Also asked for specific dietary requirements and this was absolutely no problem.
Friendly local pub, which offers a good selection of quality food at reasonable prices. Recommend that you book a table as due to popularity gets very busy, especially at weekends
Very Friendly staff who offer a quick service in a cosy pub atmosphere. It has a good beer choice and the fish and chips were excellent as always. Perfect portion sizes too.
Good food, friendly staff, ideal Sunday lunch venue. Pub has good feel about it, suited all ages in our party. Close to Herriot watt university , perfect for feeding a hungry student! Would return.
Smart ambience, good choice of drinks, especially gins and real ales. Food was good too. Service could have been a bit more attentive, especially as we were there at a quiet time, but overall I recommend it and would be happy to return.
2nd Visit great food, reasonably priced. Good kids menu. Would happily visit again. Good atmosphere. This review needs to be minimum of twenty five words why id already said what I wanted to say! :)
A very warm welcome received. Excellent eatery with a great selection of food on offer to suit all tastes. Food enjoyed by all the family. Hope to visit again soon.
The Food we ordered was very good as was the service which was very friendly. There was a good atmosphere and will definitely be returning again.
The food was great hot and well presented.. staff were very pleasant and attentive.. could do with a greater knowledge of making cocktails and how they should look
Always a pleasure this place it's warm and welcoming and so are the staff who are great. Meals are very nice and good value. Thanks so much.....
We thoroughly enjoyed lunch at The Riccarton Inn, the food was fantastic, all five of us really enjoyed our meals, most of us having three courses, each one absolutely delicious, the macaroni and cheese was amazing, as was the chocolate nemesis!!! The staff were very attentive and friendly too, we will definitely be back.
Good food efficient service despite being a pub the service was of restaurant quality. Very relaxed atmosphere would recommend the riccarton to anyone looking for a good meal at reasonable price.
Lovely atmosphere and food, never been before but would love to go back. The prices were good £20 per head for starter and main and soft drinks
Good food, friendly staff and atmosphere - first visit and will definitely be going back - great selection of drinks especially Local beers from across Scotland
Very good food well served, so top marks. Not so sure about the Theakstone's Christmas Ale, but that's not the fault of the Riccarton Inn.
Lunch visit - Great service, lovely staff, cosy and warm restaurant. Food order atken and delivered quickly, opted for the excellant ciabatta sandwiches, but there was lots to tempt to make the decision difficult.
We were a party of 6. We all enjoyed our meal and found all the staff serving us to be pleasant and helpful. We will return.
Food, service very good. The dining area was very busy but the staff were very attentive and the evening couldn,t have been better. We had Australian relatives with us and they were most impressed.
Excellent food with a varied choice and excellent service. Caters very well for kids too. Average selection of beer, and the prosecco was reasonably priced.
A good dining experience overall, but desert menu was limited. Our starters and mains for 4 people all arrived timely enough and were excellent for a hungry family. We wanted to carry this on into desert, but felt a bit let down by the choice available.
The bar was horrendously noisy when we arrived with revellers We had reserved months ago and when we asked for our reserved table the manager pointed at the one table in the bar squashed in a corner in the middle of it all When we asked if we could be move into the almost completely empty dining room he replied that All the tables were reserved , I pushed matters as there clearly were free smaller tables there but he refused We came to Edinburgh to take our son out for a meal from neighbouring Heriott watt uni for the evening on our way through and wanted to chat which would have been impossible in this awful place ! Unhelpful In the extreme ! Glad in the end cause ate at premier where we stayed and thAt was (surprisingly )lovely !!!
Very friendly attentive staff, excellent service and lovely food. Also tried the cocktails after dinner which were delicious. Will definitely be back, a new favourite for us.
Took a friend here for lunch for a belated birthday treat .Very pleasant atmosphere and staff and food excellent-definitely added to my list for lunches-we will be back.
This was our first visit. We enjoyed our meals which were to a high standard, and can also confirm that the service received was very good. We will add this to our personal list of favoured pub restaurants in and around Edinburgh.
What a wonderful experience at the pub meal great drink spot on will let all my family and friends about our experience. Staff were most helpful
A delicious lunch in relaxed surroundings. The sandwiches were a good choice accompanied by side salad and fries. Staff were friendly as always. We will be back.
Booked a table for 2 at 6pm and we arrived bang on time. We were shown to our table straight away with no fuss. The bar was packed and very lively, but the adjacent restaurant area was peaceful but with a friendly buzz. It is intimate but also private and very comfortable and conversation is easily heard. In spite of how busy the bar and restaurant were, the service was slick and perfectly timed. The menu was good and the food was excellent. Prices were very reasonable. Overall, it isn't hard to see why the Riccarton Inn is busy. Great staff, great food and great atmosphere. I'd recommend to anyone.
Excellent meal in a very welcoming pub. This was our first visit and certainly wont be our last. I would highly recommend the Cullen Skink.
We were very happy with our experience here Friendly staff cozy surroundings Lovely food very enjoyable.. would recommend. Also enjoyed sampling the craft ale on offer . Happy Days :)
Good food in a local pub that is always busy. The choice on the menu is varied and freshly cooked from scratch they also do gluten free food. The staff are pleasant and helpful and the surroundings are comfortable.
Very glad we booked online as it was extremely busy Good service from very busy staff and a pleasant meal although rather large portion for me but not for my eating companions!
I treated my friend to a meal at the Riccarton Inn last night as a thank you. We had a lovely meal and the staff were very helpful. She had not been there before but was impressed and said that she will return. A nice evening. Thank you!
Four of us had a great value meal with good choices available and an excellent pudding. Great for an evening out with friends. Give it a go.
Steal pie was full of lumps of fat, chicken pie so full of salt it was horrible and an avocado salad that looked like a horror movie as it was drowned in beetroot juice. Service still hasn't changed, still poor with staff looking as miserable as ever. Pub had football turned up for the drinkers so talking was difficult as it was so loud. Not a pleasant dining experience.
Went on a Thursday night and was busy but service was still very good and didn't wait long at all for food and drinks. Food is reasonably priced and tastes lovely and the staff were all very friendly.
Thursday night and not too busy. Food was lovely and service was very good . Parking round rear of establishment makes it stress free too.
This is a lovely pub with a small restaurant area at the back, great food especially the ham hock pie. Good value for money as well. Highly recommended for 2 to 6 people.
Really nice relaxed atmosphere in this family orientated pub. The service was good attentive but not overbearing. Menu not extensive but nice range of good food on offer. Reasonably priced all in all a very pleasant evening and as local will definitely be back.
Good food, friendly staff. Burger was good and the fish and chips are well worth a try. Desserts were great too. Nice friendly atmosphere, all in all, a lovely meal!
