Nice restaurant although a bit dated but the food made up for it. Been a few times and would go again
Last time I ate in the Shish it was in Gibson Street...and my first ever curry was in the Shish....now that I am back in Glasgow it will be my regular...all the old favourites are still on the menu and loads of new stuff to try. I was stuffed...could not finish the food. Fantastic
As always, great food and atmosphere. Good vegetarian choices. Love the decor and waiters appropriately very attentive. Parking can be tricky as pay meters round about.
Husband and I had a lovely meal, staff accommodated us being early and plenty of staff without it being intrusive. We will most certainly have a return visit.
Very nice restaurant with friendly staff. Wide variety of Indian dishes/ curries to choose from and the food is nice. Very vegeterian friendly as well.
Easily the best curry in Glasgow. Silver service style from the waiters. I've never had a bad meal here, even the special fried rice and garlic naans are huge.
Great service. Fabulous food. The food was very tasty with the prawn curry being highly rated by our visitor from Melbourne. Best curry in Glasgow. Been going for 40 years.
Very quick and lovely service, the staff were great at recommending dishes. Food was delicious and drinks were always refilled quickly. Would highly recommend to anyone.
The best Indian restaurant I know , truly brilliant. Service was excellent food to die for and the menu spot on. Location gives you great choice to either head into town after or before or stay in the west end
Fabulous service very fresh food couldn't fault tastes. Won't try any other restaurants after this.my favourite! Pls sort the air con it's too cold !
The food was great however the service wasn't consistent. One waiter was excellent, he was serving drinks, the other two were dismissive, not taking the correct order for food and drinks. This is the first time it's happened and won't stop us from going back in the hope it was just a fluke!
Staff very alert and friendly.Good served promptly and delicious.Catered to all our needs.Excellent all round.Would definitely come here again and recommend to others.None of us could complain just complement serving and kitchen staff on a job perfected.
Our table wasn't quite ready so we went next door for a beer. The Shish's manager came and got us but didn't rush us back. Food was fab. Very courteous and great fun!
I first visited Shish Mahal with student friends way back in 1967 when it was based in Gibson Street. I've lived in London for 40 years but never miss a visit to Shish every time I come back to Glasgow - it's always a highlight😁
Food was excellent and the staff give a warm welcome and good service throughout. Always too much food but that's never a bad thing! Best vegetable pakora in the world!
Weren't seated until 20 minutes past our reservation time and weren't even offered a drink or dessert on the house. The waiters were also abrupt and disgruntled. Curries were underwelming but the naan was great
Food and service were excellent would definitely recommend this place and will be back. . Only problem is parking if you are unlucky enough to take your car.
Food great as usual , best Pakora in Glasgow . Service friendly and efficient. We have been regular customers for years and always enjoy our food .
Excellent food and service. The staff are very knowledgable and can tell you all about the history of the restaurant. The food is always great with a wide variety of starters and mains.
Good food as always and friendly, courteous staff. Bright and modern decor. Menu had good choice and it was reasonably priced. Have eaten there a few times and standard is consistently good.
An extensive menu and good advice from the waiter. The food was very good indeed, with generous portions, and the courses came at just the right pace.
The Shish Mahal is always great. Good location and atmosphere. However on this visit our main wasn't as good as usual. We had the lamb bhuna and the lamb wasnt as tender as you'd expect, and it had more fat than usual which I cut off. Aside from lamb, everything was great.
A great Glasgow institution and rightly so. Everything was delicious and the staff made it memorable and comfortable. And do have the lamb bhoona -fantastic.
Excellent curry best I've ever had service good and restaurant clean good location for the stand comedy club were we had tickets for will be back
Simply the best curry in all of Glasgow -and that means beating some really stiff competition. Extensive menu with fantastic choices, brilliant atmosphere and great service. Quite simply none better
Food was great, as it always is, but the service was not as good as usual. Perhaps it was down to it being busy for valentines night.
Have been eating at the Shish for over thirty years and have yet to have a bad meal. Excellent business lunch menu. Great service wonderful food at reasonable prices. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
The food came to the table Very quickly and they were prompt at clearing the table as well. The food was great and the waiters were friendly and understood and catered the needs of fussy eaters.
second time at this restaurant and what a meal good quality plenty of it and very tasty,4 of us all had different choices and we all agreed it was the best food in years' would recommend the lamb tikka main course with a special tandoori roti, and try the mushroom pakora to start.the pakora starters are quite a large portion so be careful and don't bag yourself up before the main course, bill for 4 was £85.00 with two starters 4 mains two breads, bottle of pinot 1 beer and a cola, not bad for a top quality restaurant in the new west end of glasgow ,will be back on my next visit to glasgow
The restaurant didn't appear to have our reservation so we had to wait for our table. Once we were shown our table it looked as though we had been squeezed into a space not entirely suitable for the table. Food was good though as was the wine. Service was also good but brisk, the place was very busy.
Food was very good and so was the service. Some of the food was a little more spicy than expected, but it was not too00 hot! Nice evening in pleasant surroundings.
Very generous portions, especially of pakoras. We were pleased to bring the remainders home. Very pleasant surroundings and good service and we were pleased with all our dishes.
First time back in this old haunt ( was the Taj Mahal) for about 40 years. Food was very good ... service very friendly. Will certainly return.
Had a very enjoyable meal with my friends last night. Excellent food, quantity, quality and value. Lovely surroundings and friendly attentive staff. One of Glasgow's oldest and best Indian restaurants which I will visit again. Well done Shish Mahal
Clean warm family atmosphere great food and drink at very reaonable prices.Tables a bit close to each othet but no problem really the rrstaurant looks top dmall for its business but it ead Friday
Fantastic food and service as it has been for years, the best curry house in Glasgow if not the whole of the UK. Can't wait to go back!!
Excellent food with excellent service. The staff are well versed in the menu and advised accordingly. Not too pricey either. Well worth trying if in the area
Nice food, setting ok. Lot of waiters who are little bit (to) eager to help.
Excellent Friday night curry. Highly recommend the lamb chops to start and the peshwari nan. Definitely a great choice for curry and a beer with friends
Food was very good, service excellent and efficient. The atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed and the interior is stylish. I can warmly recommend to all indian food lovers.
Fantastic food, great service . Still the best in Glasgow ! Tandoori lamb chops are a must . Been a few times and never disappointed
As the restaurant that is regarded by most as the one that invented tikka masala (and they do a very good version of it), it is well worth a visit.
Great meal at the Shish. Service excellent. We opted for some old favourites from the menu and we were not disappointed. Hasini lamb chops were lovely.
I use the Shish Mahal for many years ,before it moved to Park Road . As always the food was superb as was the table service . However what has let it down in my opinion is the withdrawal of the complimentary starters. It was customary that when settled in your at your table the waiter brought some popadoms and an assortment of dips ie Mango ,Indian pickle ,etc in a dish which had 4 samplers in it . On this visit we received nothing I feel that this is detrimental to the restaurant as it was a lovely welcoming gesture which has gone .A reason I feel that we returned again and again was for that lovely welcome we used to receive .Sorry but I have to mark the Shish Mahal down because of this . Don't know if we will hurry to return .There are plenty more superb Indian restaurants around the West End maybe time we tried another .
Have been to the Shish many times and never been disappointed. From the white linen on the tables to the very helpful waiters to the generous portions to the reasonable prices. Will be back!
I live in the USA and had not been here since 1989 and it was worth the wait. The meal was fantastic. Service was excellent.
1st class restaurant.food is best indian food i've tasted in years, not heavy like some!very busy but staff a plenty and you're looked after.👍👍👍.live on other side of glasgow but would travel for a carry out😋
With a group of eight old friends on a Friday night we booked a table for a wonderful meal with excellent service and delicious food. Be prepared to consider a huge menu choice with traditional dishes. We chose a range of starters to share as guided by the waiter. We then selected various chicken and lamb main courses with beer and wine. This is a popular traditional curry house of high standards where advance booking is advised at peak times. Over thirty years I have never been disappointed.
The food was excellent, generous portions; so much we had to ask for a 'doggy bag' !! and very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend it
I first ate at the Shish Mahal in 1964 when it was round the corner in Gibson Street. I know of no other restaurant that has maintained such an extraordinarily high standard of cuisine for 50 years!! Well done to Ali and all the staff and the superb chefs.
