It was the first time I'd been to this restaurant. It has a fairly short but very interesting menu. Not your typical Italian. The food was excellent - very tasty. I can recommend the octopus and fish of the day. We were a group of four and wanted sociable evening. We weren't rushed at all. The service was excellent and the restaurant itself is very stylish. I will definitely be going back.

Very nice meal, with swift and friendly service. Food was well cooked and elegantly served with an interesting menu. Had the set theatre menu, but keen to try the a'la carte. Will definitely be going back.

Food was ordinary but the bill was extraordinary. 10 £ the small glass of Chardonnay ! The service was not so friendly, the waitress looking in the other direction if you call her.

Every bit as good as we had hoped, perfect for pre theatre dinner. We had intended to have the pre dinner menu, but were seduced by the daily specials. The food was excellent, only one small thing, down to personal preference I would have preferred a little more kick to the beetroot starter. Great attentive but not overbearing service meant we got apperitifs, three courses and coffee in an hour and a quarter. will recommend to friends and return again ourselves

Lovely food and service with good wines. Menu is interesting but any regular visitor will want the menu changed monthly to keep it fresh and interesting. Given the awful restaurants in theatre land this is an excellent exception and deserves success.

Fantastic service and excellent food. Normal London prices but good value for money in my humble opinion. Perfect pre-theatre venue just off Drury Lane, particularly well situated for the Theatre Royal.

It was absolutely awful . Whilst our waitress was lovely the 3 main course for a party of three were of the most appalling quality . I understand that our reservation was for 10.30 and the chef probably wanted to go home , however that in no way excuses what was served up . Furious

Watch out for the price if you choose the Dish of the Day, rather badly out of line with the rest of the prices. OK otherwise.

We went for a pre - theatre lunch. It's definitely either booking in advance as the place gets very busy. Service and food were outstanding. They even cook off the menu for children (within reason), although with their mixture of pasta and steaks you don't need any extras.

Service a bit slow to start and they forgot a few things but this improved as evening went on . The good was great two of us had the tasting menu and when we commented we didn't like one of the courses they replaced with another of our choice which was good if them . Overall a lively restaurant with great food and staff lovely

Really enjoyable place to go. The staff are fantastic-knowledgeable, fun, engaging. The food fabulous-interesting and well presented-I like my food major hot, as in temperature and so that was my only fault not quite hot enough for me.

Four to Eight is a really lovely place to eat whether in the evening or lunch time. I happened upon it in an internet search and it was right next to the theatre we were going to so it was convenient and turned out to be delightful. We are going back to the restaurant - different theatre this time!

The start wasn't good. Despite a confirming email and a telephone call from the restaurant, when we arrived there seemed to be no sign of our reservation. The manager was called and the problem resolved. After that we had a great time. The food was delicious and beautifully presented and the service friendly and pleasant. We weren't rushed but had plenty of time for three courses and coffee before we left to go to the theatre. I will eat here again.

The corner table we requested had been reserved, and we enjoyed an excellent meal from the varied choices on the imaginative menu. The food was perfectly prepared and attractively served; my guest was particularly impressed by the duck as his main course. The service of was friendly but unobtrusive, and our waitress (who unlike many of her kind politely waited for a break in our conversation before asking for our orders) was able to describe exactly how the duck was cooked. Very impressive and reasonably priced. I will be back.

Looking forward to a nice meal, the adventure started the night before when we were contacted to reconfirm our booking. We were then told that we only had the table until 10pm (our booking was for 8.15). This was never mentioned on the confirmation when we made the booking. So we were surprised to be told this the night before we were due to go for our meal. So if you are booking please double check to see how long you have the table for? When we arrived we were shown to our table and ordered our drinks. Our waitress for the evening was very good and attentive. We order our meals and continued with our evening. The starters were both fantastic, this boded well for the main course. For the main I ordered the Cote de Beef steak at £30. Unfortunately when the steak arrived it was very tough and filled with sinew. It was inedible, our waitress noticed I was having difficulty cutting the meat with my steak knife so she brought over the manager to see the issue. The manager was very apologetic and promptly ordered another one for me. Unfortunately the second one was just as bad so I gave it up as a bad job. Again the manager apologised and arranged for this to be taken off the bill. My wife's main course again as the starters was fantastic. The puddings carried on in the same vain as well. It is a shame that the most expensive steak on the menu was substandard. (I have to say that a group of younger diners on the table next to us had the same steak as me, although they did not complain but you could see that they had left it on there plates, one of them actually ended up eating his partners pasta dish) Unfortunately this overshadowed the evening, I was still hungry when I left. It is a shame because the rest off the food was perfect. Just one last note, there were a lot of spare tables around so I don't know why we were told that our table was only ours until 10pm????
