Très bonne cuisine italienne raffinée dans un cadre agréable. Nous aurions préféré ne pas manger au sous-sol, mais ambiance sympa quand même. Personnel souriant et professionnel.
Not busy when I went for lunch on a Monday but it's one of those restaurants which has its own confident atmosphere, so there was no feeling that we were rattling around in a failing eaterie. Very chilled, super friendly staff, excellent food and an interesting wine list at reasonable prices. I started with a fabulous salmon dish (portion could have been bigger) and mustard chicken breast which was amazing. Very nice side dishes - we had mash, fries and kale, which were all beautifully presented and cooked. Too full for puds but they looked very enticing. My friend and I hunkered down for four hours and were rewarded with a couple of ice cold limoncellos on the house. As we left it was getting dark and they were putting tea lights on the table. I was sorry to leave and I will definitely go back!
An Italien restaurant with realy good food and excellent service. The wine they recommended for our dishes was perfect. A great meal before Mama Mia the musical;)
Quality Italian cuisine. Lovely atmosphere with lighting now down to a warm level and candle light at the table. Friendly smiley staff. Close to theatre land but so much better than most close to the theatres. Had the daily pasta special and have not had such perfect pasta since we were last in Italy. Next visit we will be back to Four to Eight.
Disappointing meal and experience. Sunday evening was quiet and key items on the menu were not available. The staff were pleasant and obliging although one was seen drinking red wine whilst still on duty. Did not feel the meal lived up to previous reviews and was expensive
Fantastic food, friendly service and great atmosphere...one of the nicest pre- and post-theatre restaurants near Covent Garden. Reasonably priced as well. I would definitely recommend
One of the best meals I had on my visit to London. I had passed by the restaurant earlier in the week and was hoping they would have a table available but they didn't so I thanked them and left. Just after the door closed the owner came out and gave me his card and that was the tipping point. I was so pleased that he did that it was easy to make reservations and have a delightful meal before the theatre.
Lovely restaurant and the staff were really helpful. Also, great food however the portion sizes are quite small for the cost of the dishes. The truffle dish was amazing!
The 3 course pre-theatre menu was just what we needed - interesting, well executed and sufficiently varied to please all four of us. It was also well balanced so that we weren't too stuffed to sit comfortably through the show afterwards. Lovely staff.
Nice little restaurant with absolutely amazing food. The service felt a little slow hence the marking of 5 but it was a lunchtime. I would definitely go again and highly recommend them.
The food was good quality, however the main course portion was on the small side, when paying £18 for pasta you would expect a good portion. Two of us who are Coeliac's had gluten free pasta, it was a soft texture and didn't hold it's shape.
Wonderful fresh, beautifully prepared and presented food. We ate from the pre-theatre menu. The stracciatella salad starter was delicious as was my salmon main course, and companion's gnocchi and then pineapple-based dessert. The house red wine was excellent value. Particular compliments on the coffee - best I've tasted outside Italy! Very pleasant stripped-back, immaculately clean environment, quick and "non-invasive" service and blessedly restrained background noise. Will be back!
After a "Thriller" performance as night show, we made reservation for a late diner moment at Four to Eight. At 10 pm on a Sunday night its was rather quiet. However, the welcome was warm. he had delicious pasta and good Italian wine. The desert was the finishing touch. We love to come back!
Great service, great food. Staff very accommodating when bringing cake in the restaurant for dessert - Friendly staff, meal timing was perfect, excellent location for a pre/post theater dinner.
great food and great service in a great location.A nice relaxed atmosphere. Cannot fault any point of the meal. Will definitely be going back soon
A lovely restaurant with tasty and beautifully presented food at a very reasonable price . I would highly recommend Four to Eight - I will definitely be returning
Great food, good wine, amazing service. The best vongole dish I've ever had. Beautiful dessert. Relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely visit again the next time I'm in London. Highly recommended.
Lovely food and good service especially if slightly rushed to get to the theatre. Pre-theatre menu has interesting dishes, just bear in mind portions are small so best to opt for the 3 courses & prosecco deal.
Average food quality combined with average service and overpriced probably explains why restaurant was so quiet. No real warmth in the level of service was the biggest issue
The staff were attentive and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. The food was good but wouldn't say outstanding. Good value for money if ordering from the theatre menu.
Lovely Food. Great service from the staff. Impressive wine list. The menu is small but with an extensive choice. Home made pasta was delicious and desserts fantastic.
A great pre or post theatre dinner with excellent service. Ideal location and warm, modern atmosphere. Wine list varied and reasonably priced. We will return.
Very good restaurant and excellent service. Food was on time and had a good choice of wines. Would recommend to friends and families who are coming to London.
The food was excellent - really tasty, and good value for money. The wine, whilst very nice, was relatively expensive in comparison to the food
One of my favourite restaurants in London, fantastic italian food - really fresh and great quality ingredients, amazing tastes with fabulous wine and great service.
Very cosy place, in the center of theater life, they can offer pre-theather meal deal. Excellent service and super delicious food. We had juicy burgers, very tasty.
Expensive italian but veeery nice. Good choice for a special ocassion or if you want to treat yourself. Helpful staff, elegant decoration and most importantly yummy yummy food.
428 is small and charming It's a real winner serving creative well prepared dishes---definitely not your cookie cutter Italian restaurant I'm a New Yorker and particular about where I eat. 428 is on my list whenever I'm in London Oh---very interesting wine list too
Food was very good on the whole but some portions were very small. Nice ambience and good service but our table was uncomfortably close to the next one to the extent that we had to disturb other customers when leaving the table for any reason.
booked to see Mamma Mia at the Novello Theatre which is directly opposite the restaurant. Decided to have a pre show meal with 4 family members and decided on Four to eight due to it's very convenient location. The choice could not have been better. We had a most enjoyable meal in great surroundings. A really good start to a very enjoyable evening.
A very enjoyable joint birthday celebration for my wife and I. Service was attentive and the food excellent. The roasted artichokes were a particular highlight.
Four to Eight provided an interestingly different menu. The dishes were well cooked and expertly presented, and the staff couldn't have been more pleasant. A little over-priced perhaps, but this is London, and the restaurant is very conveniently situated for London theatres etc.
Lovely restaurant. Staff are attentive. Food is imaginative and unusual for an Italian. It is a little pricey but worth it for that special meal
excellent food made with the best ingredients at reasonable cost. lacks a bit of atmosphere sat on a corner of Aldwych but well worth a visit
We mostly enjoyed our pre theatre meal. However one of our party was disappointed I her sirloin on the bone as it was so fatty. We also thought the measure given for wines by the glass were rather "mean" !! The Amaretti Crunch was also disappointing.
Went there for a catch up with old friends - starters and main courses were excellent as was the wine. Too full for dessert! Overall excellent food and fantastic service - would definitely recommend!
Service staff were very attentive and eager to help or accommodate our requests. Food portions were a little small unfortunately, even though they were very good.
Simple yet lovely restaurant. Conveniently located for some of the theatres closer to Covent Garden area. Food was lovely and waitresses were attentive. Particularly enjoyed the Burrata...Clam pasta and cheesecake. Had a good range of wine selection from across the globe with a wide enough budget range. Will be back.
Awesome, as always! My favourite lunchtime venue and for good reason. Wonderful food, great wine list, attentive but not intrusive service! Christmas downstairs is the best!! Just book it!
I have always had a wonderful experience in this restaurant, but this time was a little bit worse. Octopuss was not very good, and rissoto was a bit dry. However, carbonara taggliateli are impressive (as always) and all the employees are fantastic.
Have been 4 times in 12 months & love quality of the food and great service. Only negative point is portion sizes could be slightly bigger
Excellent meal, good choice, very pleasant staff not rushed.. Slightly pricey but is in middle of Theatre Land. Nice ambience to the restaurant. Would certainly go back.
We all enjoyed our dinner at Four to Eight. The food was delicious, different, beautifully presented and at a very reasonable price. Service was efficient, friendly but unobtrusive. We will definitely go there next time we are in London.
Great place for lunch after The Courtauld. Really enjoyed the Carbonara and we were both blown away by the deconstructed Lemon Tart and Lavender Ice Cream. Relaxed and unobtrusive service. Would recommend it and will certainly go again.
There was great service, lovely food and a beautiful atmosphere at Four To Eight. The a la carte menu was a little pricey but the set menu was reasonable. Overall a great experience.
This was a last minute reservation for us but glad we made it. Was really impressed with all the staff that we interacted with, they were all so friendly but not that uncomfortable in your face service you can sometimes get. The food was remarkable, couldn't find a single thing wrong with it. The restaurant itself was lovely and a little qwerky, will definitely be back and would recommend going here to everyone!
Great service from our waitress. There was no pressure to hurry our meal unlike some other restaurants. We were there for almost 3 hours enjoying 4 courses and some drinks. Food was very tasty and obviously freshly prepared and cooked. Good value too. We will be back, and soon!
This is a lovely Italian restaurant, the pasta is cooked to perfection and was so delicious that we couldn't sadly manage a dessert. They make a mean cocktail in here too.
Fantastic authentic Italian food. We had the carbonara, which is not creamy but nice and cheesy. Staff were attentive and very nice. I was also very impressed with the new lunch menu, which makes dining there a little more affordable, which means I will be able to go back more often, happy days!
We were a party of 5. Starters were ok. Octopus a bit too burned. Nice Arancini and Burrata. Main dishes were also just ok. Risotto was quite unseasoned, a mini duck portion, vongole with tiny clams but tasted good. Chicken and carbonara were quite good though. Overall, very more or less restaurant - for the price I would expect more. Ah, good drinks!
