Zengi Restaurant

They had lovely food stand this restaurant. We enjoyed it.

Fast attentive service and fresh food at a reasonable price

No frills, but good authentic Iraqi Kurdish food. Service somewhat haphazard. Little atmosphere and the crackly radio does not help. Not a destination in itself but a good standby in the area.

Food was lovely and so were the staff. We had a special evening and it was lovely to be able to chat and enjoy the company and the food ... meze platter was great !

Small but friendly restaurant serving great eastern Mediterranean and middle eastern food. I can recommend the sharing Mezee allowing you to pick 5 dishes from their excellent hot and cold mezee selection. Lots of vegetarian options.

Very friendly and helpful waiters. We ate well displayed and genuine food. Maybe with air condition on an the main door shut, out of the main road noise, it would have been perfect.

Zengi feels like a great family run place, good food with good people. It feels a bit at odds with the location, not quite your Shoreditch cool so not super full, but we had a nice time and ate well. Some interesting dishes you don't always find, and all tasty.

Food was excellent and generous portions. Staff were friendly and attentive. Not a 6, as the air conditioning wasn't working and it was 31 degrees!

The venue would need a proper cleanup and the menus should be thrown away and replaced by new ones as they are very dirty. That being said the food was brilliant and the service was good, so happy days.

Excellent food with good sized portions. Lovely decor in traditional surroundings. Prompt service to start but declined when got busy. Will definitely be going back!

Restaurant wasn’t very busy so service was good. No draft beer which was disappointing. Menu ok but maybe expected a few more middle eastern dishes. They offer vap shisha and normal shisha if you sit outside. I wouldn’t waste your money on vap shisha just doesn’t work ;) Also having the normal shisha topped up with coals you expect but we had to ask. Overall I score Zengi a 4

We had our team's Christmas party at Zengi. The food and ambience were was great and very attentive staff - would highly recommend it :)

Nice atmosphere with amazing presentation on the table. Roaring with romance or quality time. Food is ok but staff extremely friendly especially the man with beard who was very humorous the white young man was very nice to conversation with too.

Very good restaurant!!! Really liked the food, well cooked and delicious mezes. Would appreciate to the top, if the service wouln't ask so many times if we have finished with our dishes. Overall, very very good!

The staff was attentive and kind, however we were told on the phone that once we got there we could have chosen if sitting downstairs or upstairs as it wasn’t too busy. This wasn’t offered to us when we got there and they refused to let us go to a more comfortable table downstairs. The food was not great either unfortunately - it was average in my opinion.

The food was really tasty and it impressed me because I'm a big fan of Lebanese food and the decorations were nice when you go inside the restaurant

Had the dolma for starters, clearly had been taken out of a can, the rice was old and hard. Tagine for mains was bland. Falafel and hummus were good though.

Had a fantastic meal at this restaurant. Food tasted fresh and cooked perfectly, and nicely marinated. Both me and my wife where very happy. The male waiter who served us was friendly and very professional.

The food was very tasty and good size portions. £25-30 each for 3 courses which also included drinks. Good range of options on the menu.

The service was great and the food tasty. For a bustling area such as Commercial St on Sundays, we were able to enjoy an hour and half for lunch before their next reservation. Less than a 10 min walk from Aldgate East station.

Nice little restaurant, went for my birthday meal with friends. Really nice food but felt somewhat rushed by overkeen waiting staff constantly interrupting to ask for more orders.

I asked to be seated in the much cosier downstairs, and wish was granted. Super helpful and friendly host and super delicious food. Would come back again!

Really enjoyed our evening in Zengi. The food was lovely and with the taste card great value for money. Looking forward to coming here again.

Downstairs was much nicer but as the restaurant wasn't busy we were seated upstairs. Ordered food but not all of it came. Food did taste really nice though! Maybe the place is better to go to when it's busy.

We had five mezze and one main dish. Really good food. The atmosphere was nice and quiet (it was a Tuesday evening) Price is ok

Really nice staff and very good food. Place itself is a little dowdy, but got the price, I'm not complaining. The Lebanese house wine is brilliant value.

The food was absolutely delicious, it arrived very quick and the staff very extremely attentive. Was not very expensive and the pipe afterwards just rounded the evening off.

Homely Middle Eastern decor and fabulous food. We tried the Turkish wine and found it just what it said on the tin: nice and blackcurranty. The only qualm I have is the slower service time downstairs. There was a ten minute gap between asking for and receiving our bill. When it arrived, the waiter was apologetic. This is something that staff should work on. The food, however, needs no changes!

A very welcoming and attractive corner restaurant with interesting views over the life in Commercial street . Good choice of vegetarian courses and excellent mixed grill. Houmos as a starter is a good introduction to a reasonably priced meal. The Lebanese wines are worth trying.

Great food. Don't miss the toum. Love the lamb shish. Also the roast chicken wings in a spicy dry rub. Vegetarian moujadra is excellent too.

The restaurant is nicely furbished, food is ok. Nothing close to middle eastern cuisine but certainly a good quality for London and especially for the price. They also serve wine, and it's not too bad wine. The service is a bit mmhh. Extremely pushy when it came to order and to pay. They nicely arranged a baklava with a candle for a birthday, but otherwise not particularly friendly.

Food was okay, service not great, seemed like they wished we were not there. Did not have lemons for drinks or soda water, also no baklava for dessert.

Nice food and a nice atmosphere. Great value too. Service was fast, but not too fast and it made for a nice alternative to surrounding restaurants

We really enjoyed our meal at Zengi, the food was incredible and service great. Lovely atmosphere - recommend the Zengi platter! We went as a large group and they coped well and service was not compromised!

We loved Zengi, food was delicious, really nice cosy restaurant and staff were great. Our only regret was being too full to try the desserts.

Great food grilled on a real charcoal grill. Excellent value for money. Service is quick. My "go to" place for an inexpensive and relatively healthy Lebanese meal.

Very attentive service for my party of 20. There was always someone on hand to provide extra drinks and the meals were delivered quickly and all together, no one was left waiting as is the case sometimes. Food was fresh and very tasty.

Lovely food. Lovely atmosphere. They may have got my order slightly wrong, couscous instead of rice, but I'll forgive them, it was delicious. Highly recommend

We had the mixed grill, lamb chops were a little tough but overall food was really good, they have a small selection of wine, we had the lebanese red, it was surprisingly good.

The food was amazing! And I loved how the inside looked. It felt very peaceful and relaxing. The customer service was really nice and helpful.

I went with a family of 5, It was fabulous experience from start to finish, service was excellent and the food was delicious. The restaurant is very relaxing and good value for money. I will recommend the platter and falafels, it was yummy. I will definetly go again and will be one of my regular. Thank you very much for a lovely evening zengi.

Great food & really nice people. Their menu has a big variety of choices and the restaurant has a cozy atmosphere. Will defenetly go back there.

Really enjoyed it here. The staff know there stuff and took great care of us. Incredible Lebanese wines and beers to choose from which was a real delight.

Fantastic food, great atmosphere and wonderful hosts. I cannot recommend it enough. We got two of the mixed platters between four of us which was a perfect light and affordable meal.

Great food and the service was good also, they didn't have a large selection of wine which was a shame but the wine they did have was okay. overall i would say great food definitely worth a second visit
