Ye Olde Punchbowl Country Inn and Gardens

My husband and I dined at your lovely restaurant for our 56th Wedding Anniversary. We had excellent and very friendly service. Unfortunately we were unable to eat all that was on our plate, in our opinion the helpings were far too generous. [We both ordered the Sirloin Steak] However we will certainly return, but maybe next time we will plump for the carvery.

The food was lovely. It was unfortunate that a particular member of staff was very rude towards my friends who had two small babies with them. The babies are too young to go in highchairs so the pushchairs had to be by the table. He looked at the pushchairs in disgust and told us that people would need to walk past. We offered to move to a different table but he told us that the restaurant was fully booked and so that wasn’t an option. We all found his mannerism very rude. We heard him being rude towards another staff member too. Can’t falt the food and other staff though.

Very lovely food tonight and good value for money but service was a little slow which probably was due to the wedding party in the function room next door. Thank you.

Lovely venue with great views looking over shropshire towards the Welsh hills. Food was plentiful, hot and delicious and the staff were pleasant and obliging.

A proper traditional carvery we a great choice of meat and vegetables all fresh and hot. Restaurant is in a lovely setting. Very helpful staff and reasonably priced. Will go again thank you

Lovely meal as always, choice of 5 meats, huge choice of vegetables, all cooked beautifully. Only criticism is at busy times they need more than 2 bar staff, had to queue for 15 minutes to order drinks and meals whilst 5 members of staff were just standing around chatting.

We booked in for a family meal. Fantastic food. Superb service. Lovely location. Even though they had a wedding booked that day we were not felt rushed to leave. We will definitely be going back.

Very efficient service, from booking on-line being greeted and sitting down and eating. So much choice on the carvery and deserts delicious. Lovely friendly staff.

First time visiting here, excellent freshly cooked food and delicious deserts. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again in the near future! Enjoyed the visit!

Beautiful setting amazing views. Service was quick and staff dealt with any needs . Aga carvery was amazing and a great offer Monday - Thursday 2 course for £9.95 can't go wrong !!

Been many times and normally good service, if this had been my first visit I woukd not return again. Initially started off good, chef as always friendly and pleasant. Carvery was fab as usual. Then we were asked if we would like deserts which we said yes, and once given the menu we had to wait a long time before I managed to ask someone if we could order. Order was taken and deserts came except for one of my guests desert and drink. We cancelled it in the end and she had nothing!!! One of the waitresses apologised for the bad service explaining they were all tired as they had been in the place until 2am that morning due to a wedding being held there!! May be next wedding venue staff should not be working following day🤨

Excellent food. Excellent staff very friendly and attentive. Would recommend for a fantastic choice carvety you can’t go wrong, beautiful location. Try it you won’t be disappointed

Always enjoy the carvery. Haven't tried anything from the other menus, but what was coming out of the kitchen looked good. Was impressed with the garden, I haven't seen before. Think this may be used for special events, weddings etc.

A Aga cooked Carvery not to be missed. Best Carvery I have ever been to. Keep coming back when I can. All fresh vegetables which you don’t find everywhere. Recommended 10 out of 10

The Carvery was amazing, you couldn’t fault it. The food is really good value for money and the service was faultless. We will definitely be returning.

Staff were a Little bit disinterested in helping us to a table. Food good but some odd garlic creamy potatoes not cooked enough. Beautiful meat but the vegetables need a little more excitement. But same problem as most carveries.... cabbage dripping in water, need to wring it out before putting it on the plate! Nice Yorkies.

Excellent service excellent food will definitely return but will check if there is a coach party or a wedding booked before hand. Carvery first glass but missed the roasted parsnips.

Unfortunately we were the only customers on a Monday lunch time, but the food was still laid on with a full selection and the meat was very good as always. The value excellent.

Excellent choice of meats and vegetables. Everything was hot, fresh and very tasty. We will definitely be returning back to the punch bowl very soon.

Excellent choice of fresh vegetables generous meat portions and piping hot.waitress service was excellent ,nothing too much trouble and day finished off with lovely desserts and coffee.

Excellent service, friendly and efficient. I could not believe the price of the carvery; at £7.50 this is tremendous value. The food was faultless and every mouthful delicious.

Lovely old building, friendly staff and a delicious Sunday lunch ...the elderly gentleman who I took here declared it was the best meat he’d had in a long time ... excellent all round !!!

Very enjoyable meal, especially impressed with treatment of party member with severe gluten problems, staff very helpful. Food was excellent. We had been recommended to try the pub after a day on the SVR, will recommend in turn.

After looking at the website I was looking forward to coming here, but rather disappointing. Gardens were locked up ; told 'patrons only' even though we had lunch there??? barman rather clueless ' gin & tonic please - do you want tonic in that or lemonade??? Carvery was good & chef helpful; most people arriving for lunch couldn't find the entrance. Really an odd experience

First visit and was amazed at the quality of food. Carvery was best i have ever had. Beautiful gardens at rear where we enjoyed a very relaxing drink afterwards

service was quite slow. Took ages for them to take the plates away and quite along time for them to bring dessert menus and take our desert order.

Lovely carvery, plenty of choice in meat and veg five different meats on for Fathers Day. Good size carpark and nice gardens to sit in when weather good, staff always friendly

Always fantastic food and great value for money. Only negative table was booked for 12 yet they hadn’t opened the doors until 12 leaving a long line waiting outside.

Carvery was amazing, staff were friendly and helpful. Pudding was just incredible. Overall, an amazing experience. This was our second time visiting, it definitely won’t be our last.

Great food and lovely atmosphere, most of the party had the roast, but a few selected other mains, everyone complimented how nice the food was.

Beautiful carvery...tasty food and lovely and hot . Decor could do with a re vamp,quite old fashioned inside . Needs more sun umbrellas outside too .

Nice food but did feel a little rushed as the staff kept asking us if we needed more time to finish our food, we’d only been in there 20 mins at that point.

Excellent AGA Carvery -will certainly visit again and next time we will try the other menus available. Staff were very attentive and price very good. A special mention for the beef-best we have had for some time.

Booked online but not put at table requested not even in the room requested placed in a small room which was tight with a high chair and and other diners also felt that the diners around us didn’t appreciate have a toddler in the room with them

Fabulous carvery. Only minor issue, had to keep getting up and shutting door as it was cold. Food wonderful and staff very attentive. Would recommend

The food was delicious. Our only problem was due to it being so busy we felt a bit unsettled. Saying that I would recommend it.

Amazing with 5 choices of meat and every item of food so tasty. Our favourite carvery which we travel 40 minutes to go there but well worth it.

Was a busy Sunday , could not get in the restaurant .but given a table in large room to.the back .lovely views ,better if not be a cold wet day .. carvery fabulous plenty of selection of meat and vegetables.., puddings great ..came out full and totally enjoyed our meal of four there ..we will be back

The food here is amazing, staff are lovely, place very clean and generally a great place to eat/ drink. Lovely views if you sit outside.

Celebrating my husbands 50th birthday on 18th April, absolutely brilliant meal and excellent value for money, friendly staff and excellent young man who served us On the Carvery counter, I couldn’t decide between gammon or turkey and he persuaded me to try both, glad I did as it was so nice, will definitely be going again soon so glad we live so close, thanks again.

lovely surroundings and feel to the place. The only negative i can think of is a lack of Shiraz wine. other than that a brilliant meal.

The carvery was absolutely delicious. The staff were very efficient and polite. There was a good choice of beers all served in warm cosy surroundings.
