Tasty food and nice service but could use some more spice/aromats and a few more detailed touches in order to be tremendous. Good selection on the menu, nice to see that they serve actual Mexican dishes and not just burritos like some of the other 'Mexican' restaurants in town.

Jolly Mexican fiesta atmosphere, great choice of food and drink (we shared a jug of tasty sangria) and friendly service - a great place for our family birthday celebration.

Good food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Would certainly go there again. No difficulty in getting one meal between the two of us, as we have small appetites.

Lovely food and drinks with friendly service. The extensive menu includes a good range of meat and vegetarian options and there is a great selection of drinks including cocktails.

We have been twice now and the employees have been super friendly and the food is amazing we both had the Grande Quesada’s which was to die for ! Would recommend to anyone coming to Edinburgh !

Enjoyed another lovely meal at Viva Mexico. The chimichanga, guacamole and margaritas are exceptional and the pecan pie and cafè con leche are to die for. The service was great and the ambience really lovely. Definitely worth a visit!

My favourite Mexican restaurant in Edinburgh and I've tried most of them. The haggis and cheese quesadillas for a starter are amazing, the slow cooked pork Chimichanga's are delicious and the chocolate chilli cheesecake is outstanding. They did tacos and fajitas and all the other Tex Mex favourites as well as more authentic dishes.

always loved coming to Viva Mexico, great service and always great foo delivered steaming hot to your table, it may not be the poshest or biggest of places but it beats loads of places by quality and quantity

Lovely plentyfull plates of food. Nice and spicey if you like that kind of thing. The Irn Bru sorbet was just the best. Lovely helpfull staff too.

Great service, great food and plenty of it. What more can you ask? It was better than most Mexican food places in the US, but probably because of the cost. You get what you pay for.

Friendly welcome, interesting menu with Mexican staples and some more unusual dishes too. Great quick service and the margaritas are good too! Much bigger restaurant than it appears from the street and can book tables on line.

Very friendly and good service. I enjoyed my meal and would definitely come back as there are more items I want to try. I also like the option for jugs of Margaritas.

I love this wee place, the food is excellent, the staff are friendly and the service is quick. For the quality of the food you get the prices are good. Plus, the portion sizes are huuuuge....

Had expected better, was in and out in under one hour and not only that the waitress came and asked us we if we wanted our change? What is that all about.

I was really disappointed with the Calamari starter - it was clearly a frozen deep fried batter selection when the menu description leads you to believe it would be freshly cooked A shame really

Very pleasant staff serving delicious food! Didn't have to wait long on both starters and main courses being served. Oh! .... and the Margaritas were spot on!! Would recommend to friends .... we will be back for sure!

Loads of gluten free choices and they knew about cross-contamination. Very good margaritas (the proper kind - not the Slush Puppy variety!). Will go back. Plenty of space downstairs.

The food was ok but mine had to be returned as it was cold. The blonde waitress was excellent and dealt with the issue perfectly but the other waitress looked bored and disinterested. I do t think we would go back

Again another fantastic meal at Viva Mexico, it really is excellent every time. We took friends there and they talked about how great it was the whole evening.

Food was excellent, way to much for me, and the staff were friendly and helpful. A very nice evening. Excellent bottle of wine too. Pur second visit there and we will be back again.

Viva Mexico is a place we like to go as a family both because there’s alway something everyone likes to eat and it’s a good atmosphere but this visit was not as good as usual - slower service, a couple of errors eg chicken not slow cooked pork in the chimichanga, wrong toppings on nachos - however - staff very friendly and food overall good. Hopefully just a one off - we will return but it’s feels not quite such a guaranteed good family outing as before

Amazing dining experience! We were a group of 9 ladies. What made our night really was how attentive the staff were, and what great service we received. That coupled with the excellent Mexican food is a winning combination. We shall be spreading the word!

Excellent food, excellent value and great setting. Can't recommend Viva Mexico highly enough for something a wee bit different in Edinburgh. Well worth a visit.

Such a nice, cosy atmosphere at this restaurant - if you don't enjoy a busy environment then its probably not the one for you. Food was of a high standard and service was so lovely. Would recommend.
