Good atmosphere, nice staff but the food could be better. The quantity was great. I'll come again and try other plates and drinks but look at the quality of the food
I have been here before and it was an excellent experience so decided to go again i was not dissappointed as the food the service and atmosphere were still excellent the staff are so friendly and helpful and the food is magnificent definitely a restuarant to try if you are in edinburgh and like authentic mexican food great experience
Viva Mexico has a fab environment with good food the lunch deal is well worth it real value for money would definitely come back again
I'm coeliac and found the menu very varied good selection of choices very busy but was happy to wait food excellent as usual.will be back soon.
A friendly restaurant with good service and authentic Mexican decor. We went for lunch, prices were very reasonable and we didn't have to wait long until the food was on our tables. We had burritos and chimichangas and they were lovely! Can recommend and will definitely return.
Busy enough place so must be popular. Very minimal interior and for the price didn't give a homely dining experience. I booked for a party of 12 although there were only 9 of us in the end. Service was good so can't fault that but I found the food cheap and vastly overpriced for what it was, most of us left food on the plate apart from one who ordered prawns for the main and really enjoyed it. In the main I found it pretty meh! ☹️
This restaurant is in the Old Town area. The table was booked for 6 pm on a Saturday, and by that time the restaurant was already very busy. There are different sections, so quite a few diners can be accommodated. The waitresses were working hard, so service wasn't particularly fast, but we weren't in a hurry. When our food arrived, we did enjoy it - typical Mexican cuisine. The portions were generous, so I was glad that we went straight to the main course. There is a good choice of drinks, and the coffee was good. This was our first visit, and I suspect, it won't be our last.
Met with friends and the Atmosphere was relaxing and plenty time to chat and eat. Staff were friendly, attentive and efficient . Food was tasty
I loved everything! It was a surprisingly authentic meal! Excellent enchiladas and tortilla soup. I hope I get another chance to eat there before the end of my trip :)
Incredible food and drink! Great service and wonderful ambience. Would definitely reccomend. Big range of drinks! And definitely veggie eat unlike other Mexican restaurants which can sometimes be restrictive.
We had a great time. The service was lovely and the food was very yummy. And the sangria was delicious as well. We will be back!
The food and service was just amazing. It was that good we booked again for the following evening. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh.
I had not been to Viva Mexico for several years and the place has grown since my last visit. Decor was pretty much as I remembered it but there is a bigger room as well. Staff are excellent and very friendly. Food as anticipated ... to be fair Mexican is not my first choice of cuisine (hence mid-ranging score) but this is good and I would go back. I think if you are a fan of Mexican food you'll enjoy it. Good portions, well presented. I don't know how prices compare with similar restaurants but seemed reasonable given the central location.
Great food and service. Would definitely rate the chicken, beans and Mexican rice, very tasty! Only thing I would say is I'd have liked the tortillas with my chicken fajitas to be larger, then I could have fit my beans in it too. But then again, I am quite greedy. and lovely sangria!!
We were seated straight away, friendly and attentive staff. Lovely food and a nice atmosphere. For a small place it did not feel too crowded, would highly recommend.
Great margaritas- go for the large gold pitcher ! Fajitas were good- and large main course portions, try the homemade salsa it has a kick though so be warned .lovely atmosphere
Excellent! Had been there 18 years ago and wanted to check if food is still so outstanding. We were definitely not disappointed. Service was very accommodating. Thanks.
Food is fantastic, the staff are great, the Margarita is amazing and it's good value. I have been a few times and I'm never let down.
Not completely clear where to go when we walked in but otherwise couldn't fault it. Great value and very tasty food, nice decor and friendly service.
The food was amazing, however, the 10% table service charge for lacking table service was silly. Also we were seated in the downstairs area which was warm, crammed and stuffy!
The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable (and we were pleasantly surprised with the portion of our starter). The main course took slightly long to arrive but overall we had a lovely experience!
Excellent restaurant, good to find a Mexican restaurant as there is not that many in Edinburgh. Quality of food really good, would recommend to anyone.
Fab and friendly staff. Meal was delicious couldnt fault a thing. Fast service and not pushy to leave once finished. Will be back again soon.
Really cool atmosphere, definitely one of the best taqueria in town, plus the margarita is amazing. Recommended if you are with a group of friends and don't mind sharing!
