Viva Mexico

Atmospheric restaurant in Edinburgh's Cockburn Street with seating both upstairs and downstairs. Menu covered all the Mexican bases from burritos to nachos. I enjoyed the pulled beef burrito. However, some of my party weren't as impressed with their meals which were too dry and lacked the salsa touch. Service was OK but nothing special.

Excellent service and lovely and food. Had the nachos and burritos for lunch. Would definitely recommend to friends. Look forward to my next visit. Thanks

Excellent food and service. Second time I have been in the last couple of weeks. Had 3 courses and all were great. Music was great as well.

Great food, easy location. Can get crowded with spotty service. Good variety to the menu. Save room for dessert, they too are excellent. A nice surprise.

I've been going to Viva Mexico since the late 80s and it never fails to satisfy. Staff last night were friendly and attentive. Thank you.

Food was gorgeous and worth the money. Staff were lovely and I will definitely be returning and recommending this lovely little place to my friends.

It had been a few years since we'd eaten at Viva Mexico, and we were delighted to find that the service was still fast and friendly, the food as excellent as ever, and the cocktails were even better! Can't wait to return.

The food was tasty. However, after receiving our main courses we were not asked whether we wanted any dessert or anything else to drink and did not receive any further attention for over 1 hour, and finally had to go up and ask for the bill before we could leave.

The food was delicious and fresh, and the staff were extremely nice and helpful. It wasn't too expensive, and the margaritas were nice, but not AMAZING. I had the tacos with minced beef and they were fantastic, large portions and good location.

Great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff and strong cocktails- what's not to love. I've returned many times. Only con- non wheelchair friendly- there is seating upstairs but bathrooms are situated down stairs.

I love Viva Mexico, I've been over 10 times in the last year and I love it. The fish tacos are to die for!! It's a relaxed environment that does fantastic food. I'll continue to come back.

Great food, friendly service ....................true authentic Mexican food, fresh, colourful, great refrained beans, tacos crisp and filled and the fish great.........what else do you need? Nada.

Good location in the centre of Edinburgh. Walk up the hill make you feel like you have earned your dinner. Excellent food and service. Margaritas well worth a try!

great food, friendly & helpful staff - we were an hour late for our reservation (suitcase lost on bus), and they couldn't have been more accommodating.

Excellent restaurant. The food was very good and the atmosphere was great. We ordered the house special, the fajitas and they were great. Good value for money also!

Very slow service. Was sitting at the table for ten minutes before we were asked for our drink order. Nachos overcooked and dark brown. The enchalada consisted of a odd textured tortilla which really wasn't very nice. The cocktails we were given were in warm glasses, which must have come straight out of a dishwasher. Been lots of times over the years to viva, so was really disappointed with this visit.

It was my second time at Viva Mexico and it was even better than the first time. It was perfect. The food, the service, the atmosphere... I will always come back!

Delicious food, fun and quirky atmosphere and staff were very friendly. Prices are reasonable for food and drinks although could so with more choice of cocktails. Would definitely recommend.

Restaurant lovely and food amazing but staff were not very attentive left without drinks for all of main course and waited ages to get bill.

Great meal and excellent service. The jug of margaritas really started the evening off well. We recommend the vegetarian sharing platter starter. Lively and friendly atmosphere.

I have been going to this restaurant for over 30 years and in all this time it has never ever disappointed me or my wife . We try to go at least once a year, normally her birthday.

The service was efficient and very friendly considering how busy they were we never felt neglected. The food was lovely and we all left with very happy bellies if not somewhat stuffed. I highly recommend the Flan Especil if it's on the dessert menu it's scrummy

The Sangria was lovely. I would also recommend the haggis nachos - a nice change from regular nachos. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere too.

Great restaurant ideally located... the service is Nice and the food is gorgeous and tasty!!! Do not hesitate one second! Quesada Grande is really... grande!

Last Thursday, I booked for four of us at 2pm. All of sudden, they just inform us that 5 mins kitchen closed. We haven't order & decide for cup of tea instead. We all are disappointed. Will not go back again! They put us down! :(

Mango margaritas, Fish tacos and tortilla soup were outstanding. Very nice staff. Only downside was they didn't offer complimentary salsa and chips. Atmosphere was also fun but not obnoxious.

The food was excellent, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was very chilled. Oh and the mojitos are also highly recommended! We will definitely visit again.

3 out of 4 chairs broken and wonky table. Could just have been out bad luck but food not hot and fajita not even a whimper never mind a sizzle. Shame.

Just okay, a different place to go, food alright but quite expensive for what it is, one of our party found a hair in her dessert, wouldn't rush back.
