We have been here several times now and always enjoy it. This time we took a couple that had never been and they also really enjoyed it

Longstanding Mexican restaurant in the Old Town, Surprisingly busy at 6pm. A bit slow to get drinks ordered but a delicious Margarita was worth waiting for. Overall, tasty and good value. Very authentic re-fried beans.

Thoroughly enjoyed waitress fabulous made us very welcom yes we will be back . Could not believe how good it was was, view excellent of Scotsman Hotel overall excellent.

We visited on a Wednesday afternoon for my husbands birthday. Great food, attentive friendly staff, well priced. A lovely lunch! Quandoo want me to write a minimum of 25 word but I summed it up in 10!

Excellent restaurant; amazing food and great service. Cant wait to go back! I particularly appreciate the virgin margarita, it's nice to get an interesting non-alcoholic drink option.

Fabulous atmosphere. Amazing food and lovely helpful staff. Tables a bit too close together. Would definitely recommend viva Mexico and the new fish tacos were delicious.

What a superb evening! This is such a lovely little authentic restaurant with lovely personable staff. The only Mexican food I've tasted in Scotland which is so close to the real deal in Riviera Maya. We were celebrating a birthday, so the staff fussed over us which was lovely and very much appreciated. We'll definitely be back very soon :-)

Excellent ambience, food extremely tasty, great drinks list with one of the most unusual drinks I have had. Beer with salt, lime juice, tobasco and worcester sauce, delish.

Great food and great service will come here again. The portion where of a good size try the stuffed jalapeño to die for and the chimichanga was good also

Food was lovely but have to highlight that the staff were great - nothing was too much trouble, even when I changed my booking time and was late (getting 21st birthday boy there). it was fun that they left sombrero for him to put on to highlight it was his birthday (we entered into it too). Will definitely be back!

I had a lovely time at Viva Mexico. The food was delicious, the margaritas were great, and the atmosphere was cozy and fun. I highly recommend the sopas (off the taqueria menu), as well as the pork chili verde enchiladas.

We had a superb meal. It was a lovely atmosphere and the service was excellent . A really great night out - thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Twenty years since I was last there, still great. Everyone should try it. The best place for fun and frolics. Lovers of Mexican food will not be disappointed.

Food was good; margaritas were excellent; ambience was great; however the service was a bit mixed - wrong food brought but quickly replaced when pointed out and we had to ask for water three times before it was brought to the table. Hasn't put us off though and we'll be back!

We had a wonderful meal, 1 vegan and 2 carnivores - we all loved our meal and the service was excellent! Will definitely be back!

Atmosphere was very authentic. Food was Incredible. We would definitely recommend and return when in Edinburgh again. Service was very good. And prices were reasonable for the quality.

Our table was sticky, we had to wipe crumbs of seats to sit down and the food was luke warm bordering on cold, will not be returning.

great little find! My husband and I love mexican and Viva Mexico did not disappoint. Lovely food in great surroundings, there was a really lovely atmosphere throughout the restaurant and the staff couldn't have been nicer.

We had a booking but were very hungry so we turned up early on the off chance and, happily, the staff got us seated straight away. They were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. The mango margaritas are definitely recommended! As it was mid-week and the place wasn't too busy we got to sit and enjoy our drinks after the meal without feeling pressured to vacate the table. This restaurant is a firm favourite and I always have an excellent meal here.

This place has been a bit family tradition for as long as I can remember and the food is always outstanding and the service warn and friendly. I would never hesitate to recommend Viva Mexico.

Good food excellent friendly staff, choice of tables given and pleasant attentive service. Meal course filling without being stoggy, ingredients fresh and drick nicely prepared.

Amazing place, the food is excellent, staff are very friendly. They customise for people with intolerances and allergies quite happily. Definitely will go back here.

Our regular little piece of Mexico in Edinburgh. Always outstanding. Food is great, service is lovely, prices are perfect and we always look forward to going.

The food was delicious and the restaurant itself was lovely. Also the staff were all friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be making more visits.

Welcoming restaurant, lovely food, friendly staff. Nice wee place for birthday celebrations. Fajitas fabulous! Everyone enjoyed the Margharitas and off course the tequila. Will be back.

We found every thing in general in Viva Mexico was poor, from the food quality, size of the portions to the very chip cutlery etc.

It was really good food and friendly service. Nice atmosphere and it was fast to get our food. The music kept stopping so was sometimes very quiet but other than that was a nice atmosphere

Very tasty food, good sized portions, clean and cheerful with attentive staff. Nacho starter was very good as was the sizzling fahitas. Will go again.

Had an excellent Mexican dinner at Viva Mexico! The margaritas are great as was the friendly service. Our food arrived quickly and all five of us really enjoyed it! Will be back!

I've always loved this place but hadn't been for a few years. I booked it for dinner for 4 of us. I'm happy to say that it hasn't changed a bit, still a friendly atmosphere, friendly staff, lovely food and very reasonably priced.

The food is always lovely and the staff is always friendly at Viva Mexico. My favourite dish is the vegetarian enchiladas. The salsa is fresh and has a nice kick to it.

Great authentic Mexican food in atmospheric surroundings. Wonderful service I would definitely return. Make sure you book as we went on a Tuesday and it was very busy.

Excellent food, great service and an establishment with character. Great location, friendly and efficient staff all made this a great place to eat. Extremely generous portions too. I cannot recommend this place enough. Brilliant!

We turned up at 5:55pm for a 6pm booking and we're asked to stand outside, in the rain, as the venue doesn't open until 6pm. So not off to a good start. Once in, the service was good, if a little frantic. The waitress was very polite and attended well. We ordered our drinks and food and didn't have to wait long. Both myself and my wife enjoyed our starters but were sadly dissapointed by our mains. My wife went for their "famous" chicken fajitas. It was 4 bits of chicken lacking the expected flavour. All put together, the overall fajita was nice. I went for chefs special of fish tacos. They were nice but couldn't help but feel the fish was chopped up fish fingers? Regardless, we had a nice experience and enjoyed our evening. Overall, attentive service but pretty average food.

Food was delicious, service was great. It's a lovey authentic restaurant that's a hidden treasure. i would definitely go back and I. Had been before.

Lunch deal is lovely and good value. Service was good, staff friendly. If having lunch on a warm day, try to get a seat away from the window at lunch time as the sun beats down making it very hot.

Food was lovely but we did feel a bit rushed as we didn't realise that restaurant was only open for 2 hrs at lunchtime. We arrived at 1230 and were bring rushed out by 2ish. Not ideal if you were in for a lazy lunch !
