The Village Kitchen in London’s Walthamstow is the brainchild of Spiros Ragavelas, a man with a passion for cooking and in excess of twenty years experience at the centre of the restaurant scene. The Village Kitchen on Orford Road has long roots, opening back in 1997 and having since established itself as the home of some of the capital’s most innovative international food in E17 and beyond.

Finding great food in Walthamstow is getting easier and easier as the area gives way to artisanal coffee places, sushi joints and a smattering of higher-end restaurants. Despite this wash of smart new eateries, however, the Village Kitchen on Orford Road has stood firm, offering some of the capital’s finest, affordably priced international dishes in a dining room which treads the line between chic and traditional. This blend of old and new is in evidence on the menu too, with a Saturday brunch menu offering perennially popular favourites like eggs benedict and salmon bagels sat alongside zeitgeisty morsels like avocado, bacon and poached egg and chorizo scrambled eggs.

For those that choose to visit London’s Village Kitchen, out east in Walthamstow, dinner is particular treat. Under the careful guidance of Spiros Ragavelas, the kitchen are spinning plates of classically prepared international dishes like pan seared pigeon breast, Thai fishcakes and tandoori chicken breast. For diners with a sweet tooth, the team do an excellent line in desserts, the summer fruit Eton mess is the kind of moreish treat that pairs nicely with a glass of white wine on a hot day while the cheese board is an excellent option in the winter. The Village Kitchen is open daily for dinner and for lunch Thursday and Friday and all day at the weekend.
