A pleasant environment and the food was good. I particularly liked the soup. The music was a bit loud for comfortable conversation. The service allowed us time to talk over coffee after the meal.
Went on a Wednesday during a very slow week in Oxford. Restaurant half full so we expected attentive service. Quite the opposite, plus they'd run out of two items on the menu. Getting information about what food was in fact available was like pulling teeth. Service improved after we demanded some. Food was decent but carelessly prepared, not worth the prices. We'd had good luck at lunch some weeks ago, so best to stick to lunch if you go.
I was disappointed with the food. I got a few vegetables in watery white sauce and some green leaves. My friend said the pear jelly tasted of mouthwash. It was poor value.
The main courses were very good we had the butternut squash bake and the pork meatballs but the brownie dessert had been left to dissolve in the sauce so was a bit too runny.
This is a great place to eat and drink in central Oxford, the food is beautifully prepared, the atmosphere convivial, the service very friendly. The menu is not extensive, but that doesn't matter in light of the quality.
The atmosphere was lovely and the service was very attentive. While the options were fairly limited, there was still some diversity in the pallet. We found some flavors to be rather bland, but it was certainly a creatively crafted meal and the wine selection was very nice.
Delicious ham broth and delightful service. It's a pity the room is so noisy., but I guess there isn't a lot you can do about that.
Great place, great food, nice atmosphere! Very easy to book online. Was just a little dark where we were sat - at the back in the corner, so it was hard to see what you were eating?
Very unusual and delicious meal- also accomodating to a fussy eater!
The service was excellent and they dealt with a big group with lots of variations to the orders extremely well. The food is extremely good and very reasonable in price.
Tasty and fresh food. Very friendly staff. Atmosphere is casual and easy. Every time when we visit the Turl Street Kitchen we leave with positive experiences and promise to return!
Delicious food! Interesting menu and lovely ethic about sourcing food.
The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is cosy, but the food did not match our expectations. We've heard so much good comments of this place, that we were disapointed, we thought it was just OK. You can taste the home-made food for sure and this is a plus, even if it implies a very basic (if nonexistent) presentation on your plate, for a basic (but pleasant) taste.
Waiter not helpful about GF choices, and had to be asked to talk to the chef about what I could eat. The chef said that only one of the items on the menu was GF - delicious chicken - but this was accompanied by a sausage. On my previous visit, though, another waiter was far more helpful.
Love the Turl Street Kitchen. Friendly staff and lovely food. Love the seasonal menu and the sensible number of choices. Great ambience as well. Will return!
Cheerful service, courgette pappardelle good, meat pie OK and lovely kale.
Excellent, rapid and friendly service during a brisk working lunch.
Pleasant experience. Food nicely cooked and well presented. Nice environment.
Good food, nice staff and atmosphere. Not bad beer and the wine list is pretty good.
