Overall a nice lunch, the desert was very tasty. The fish looked a bit flaky and was not the freshest.

This unassuming looking pub hides an excellent restaurant in an ancient and quirky interior. Every dish was at least step above what you would have expected from a pub. A must visit.

Great food and service - best Sunday roast I’ve had for a long time!

Roasts are very good - huge portions. Burger also enjoyable. Quite slow in taking food order but thereafter service was fine.

Everything was excellent - food and service friendly and prompt. We had a table for 4 in a small quiet area. I would have preferred to have been in the main part of the restaurant where there was more atmosphere but that cosy corner would have been great for a private party or someone who needed to be away from the bustle. This is not a complaint purely an observation as we will definitely be back. The food was top quality .

We had a light meal and each dish was delicious. By far surpassed the offerings of many other restaurants in the area, particularly on a Monday evening. It will now become a regular destination for me.

Great to find a pub which serves food like a high end restaurant again. Specials orientated menu with a balance between fish and meat, only one veggie main option but the small range is high quality. This will now be the go to place when my wife and I want a meal to reward ourselves!

This was an evening well spent. The staff were very professional providing an excellent level of service that was attentive without being invasive. The food all we hoped for.

We went for lunch on our wedding anniversary. We arrived 5 minutes after our booking time but we were assured that it was no trouble at all and given the option of inside or outdoor seating. We chose indoors as it is wasp season. The manager came and opened doors and windows to create a draught on a very hot day. Immediately he asked if we would like water. He produced this and took a drink order. Very swiftly a waiter brought those and then our food order was taken, with views provided when asked for. The starters arrived promptly and they were excellent; both in presentation and quality. Only a couple of minutes passed and the table was cleared, then mains arrived very quickly. These were of exceptional quality and showed attention to detail and flair in preparation. My wife had champagne at a very reasonable price. Desserts were equally excellent and quick. The one negative was that no one else was eating and so it was very quiet with little atmosphere. Not the restaurant’s fault. I paid a very reasonable bill (I expected 50% more) In all a lovely lunch, I will undoubtedly be going back.

Great place to eat. A delightful food. This old tavern with a lot of history is one of the greatest places around the area. The owner is so gentle and kind, the staff is very kind, helpful and courteous, some day there is great life music. You can chose to eat inside or outside in the garden: what to choose? History and a charming place or beautiful garden with cabins? Whatever you choose you will be treated like a king or a queen. Why are you waiting? Just go and taste it!
