Good Sunday lunch, excellent service and lovely pub, very cosy
Lovely food definitely will be returning very soon. .. .
Lovely food, good choice, served by Lucy who was very efficient, friendly, polite.
Took our friends to the talbot for tea...Great food great atmosphere and Good value for money.
Overall very good but it was so cold it was very uncomfortable sat with coat on
Unfortunately not the best expiernce tonight. Was in restaurant for 2 hours with poor service. No table for us so sat out the way, despite having book table. No menus given. Told to seat ourselves. Starters of prawns were delicious (however an hour wait for these). My pie was not what I was told it was, meaning I couldn't eat it. The pastry and inside was also very dry from what I could see. No checkbacks were done so I could not the situation rectified. The restaurant did give us our meal free of charge however I won't be returning.
Been to the Talbot previously, when the place was full, lively and a great atmosphere, tonight there was none of that, the service wasn’t as good as we’d had previously, the staff looked untidy and not as expected, however the food was delicious.
Excellent food and a very nice atmosphere. Will definitely return.
Our first visit and we loved it. Staff was attentive and friendly. Service was fast. The food we had was really good and fresh. We especially like the sticky toffee pudding. Absolute yum.
Excellent Food. A choice for all tastes with the Lamb Rack, stealing the show.
Food was good, reasonbly priced, service was good, ambience was good. Overall a pleasant experience
After been their a couple of times on a groupon deal and enjoyed it I decided to take my friend their while she was visiting from America unfortunately was disappointed as I was asked if we were in a deal and I told them I wasn’t I had the fish pie which I had previously and enjoyed but on this occasion they were very busy and clearly under staffed young girl on who was not of age to serve behind the bar so bar service was very slow and our fish pies went to three different tables before arriving to us. The portion size was very small and my sister ordered the fish and chips which was served with 6 chips another table near us also complained about the portion size. Our fish pies were not piping hot or the vegetables which were sitting in water to say the least I was very disappointed as in the past I have enjoyed it and clearly everyone who was their was booked in so they knew how many people were eating that night and just to say I was not on a meal deal
I have to say I was disappointed. We were put in an upstairs room with one other table. not a huge problem but a much nicer atmosphere downstairs. The room was cold. Food ok but wouldn’t rush back. Loo in the gents was dirty.
Food was excellent service was slow upstairs atmosphere great would go again
Great Sunday lunch And service thanks. Need custard next time!!
Lovely Sunday dinner, would certainly visit The Talbot again yummmmy
First time we had been and food was excellent and the young lad serving on was a credit.
I booked a table for myself and my husband, 7pm on a Friday night. When we arrived the restaurant wasn't overly busy, probably how I would expect a place to look on a Friday night. We were sat down before 7pm (a good start) then it went down hill from there. We finished our drinks and were not asked it we would like another until we asked, we were not asked if we'd like water for our table, our order was taken at 7.20pm, the starter arrived at 7.50pm after I had commented to a waitress that others who arrived later had already been served. Still had to ask for another drink, at 8.20pm we had waited long enough, paid the bill and left.
Food was beautiful was a little cold but didn’t stop me eating staff were lovely very friendly will definitely be back again
All the staff are very pleasant and friendly however we had to wait quite a while for our food to appear. Two of the party had the fish pie. Whilst it was tasty there was very little fish in it. We were disappointed. The waitress said she would pass our comments onto the chef.
Enjoyable meal, good quality food in this country pub, worth a visit
Food very good staff friendly and beautifully decorated restaurant have been 3 times now steak very good
Fabulous food, great service by very friendly staff. wonderful ambience.
Food not as nice as expected when eating out, veg very under cooked, gravy like water, this place used to be nice, won't return
The food was excellent , the service should have been quicker , overall good value for money and we would go again
Excellent food, as was service, very helpful staff. All in all very good, will certainly return.
Wonderful evening, fabulous food in a gorgeous country pub, we will 100% be back!
Really good quality food and professional polite staff. I would highly recommend
Enjoyed the Sunday lunch & will return sticky toffee pudding excellent
First visit for a number of years. Landlady said been there since April. Very attentive to us and the food could not be faulted. Certainly will be on revisit list!!
Recently updated with new owners, loved the food, will go back again soon.
Food very good but service little slow after main course
Very clean establishment polite staff food really tasty a good menu with plenty variety I will go back and try the steak it looked nice on the next table
Food was lovely service was great the young waiter was really friendly
Excellent food and service, will definitely visit again. Thank you.
Great food hosts and entertainment we will be back again !!!
Gorgeous pub, great atmosphere, the food was delicious and the service was great.
Ordered Silverside beef on arrival the meat was really tough and fatty I could hardly cut it with a normal knife could have done with a steak knife. Wife and I left most of it as it wasn't nice at all found the meal very disappointing and very expensive we will not be returning.
Had the Sunday lunch which was delicious and also a good size portion. Waiting staff were really good and efficient. First time we have eaten here but will eat again. A couple next to us complained about meat being tough and also waiting time. Thought I would mention this in case they put a negative review on.I overheard her say she wanted it well done which it was and also a twenty minute wait time for food in my opinion is not excessive. The pub removed payment for one of the plates because of this and I then overheard them say they may purchase a dessert now the bill was halved. Professional moaners so I chose to ignore. Overall a nice pub, great food at a good price.
A pleasing choice of dishes, our party (aged 13 to 75) were all very happy. Smart and comfortable. Excellent service.
Lovely refurbishment and meal was nice but very small for a Sunday lunch. Still lacks atmosphere.
Food exceptional, atmosphere relaxed, price very reasonable! Thank you for a wonderful meal 😊😊.
We had Sunday lunch and I have to say it was lovely, the only note is that they needed to be more generous with the vegetables. They don’t cost much and more were needed which, when asked, they provided. Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere, we will be back 😊
