Great visit in pandemic circumstances. Service a little slow which meant kitchen had closed before we could have dessert which was a shame.

Food was nice & served promptly with initial drinks. However subsequent drinks orders took between 20 minutes and half an hour for most rounds to arrive. Friends joined us and waited half an hour for their drinks so were unhappy. Our last round arrived 30 minutes after we ordered it, just as they announced it was time to leave and issued us plastic glasses to pour the drinks into to take with us. Not really what we wanted to do in the pouring rain! Badly managed and not enough staff considering most tables booked in advance. Such a shame as staff were friendly and the covered outside area with heaters is good. Not a good experience so unlikely to go back when other pubs are doing it so much better.

Food and beer excellent as always but service was incredibly slow, with confusion amongst staff about how/whether to use the App. App then crashed later on. Could have had more staff on duty as outdoors under the tent was packed (in a good way!).

Firstly we got sat outside which isn't great on an Autumn day when the weather is a bit chilly. When I booked the table it did not state we would be sat outside. Enjoyed the roast meal we had but the food was virtually cold when we got it so two of us had to send our food back to be warmed in the microwave. Shame because we had been recommended to this pub and had we known we would have to sit outside we wouldn't have gone there.

Ordering via the app was so easy and meant we didn’t have to leave the table, our food and drinks just appeared!

Great food always. i had an issue with my steak last night but mentioned to staff and it was promptly changed with no fuss. Excellent service, excellent food and great value for money. Feels very safe too in the Covid environment

It was very busy, but using the QR code it was easy to order, even adding extra requests such as no mushrooms! And the order came quickly and was very tasty

Food was great but was very disappointed that the restaurant made it so difficult to get the eat out to help out discount.

Looked after fantastically by the staff, I had a chicken burger and my girlfriend had the Veggie and they were both stunning. Top night thank you very much x

Some of our small plates were a little overdone, and the tacos weren't portioned very well. But the padron peppers were delicious. And service great, as always.

Sussex had done a great job of social distancing, shame the app repeatedly went down which then created big queues. Lovely staff and setup.

Wonderful to be back this Monday. I suggest all try to skip a weekday afternoon off work and labour instead with a drink or two, or three, and more than you can eat!

Small trestle tables in the garden I thought may collapse, but the staff were really nice, especially the new waitress on her first day.

Love The Sussex. But first time eaing out today since lockdown. App works well. Drinks service and staff are great. Food slow, note to kitchen not followed, main meals warm versus hot, and some chips didn't arrive.

Really good service - the ordering system worked well and great service at bringing drinks and food. Tables outside well spaced out. I did not want to eat inside as harder to social distance

Oktoberfest vibe with good social distancing and cheaper beer! Selection of ales as good as always.

App very successful for drinks order, less so with food, re our friends meal arrived when we had almost finished ours. Staff made up for it by being extremely pleasant and helpful. A work in progress.

We used to love the Sussex but today was so sad. The food was not good at all and really disappointing unfortunately. The ordering app Is tricky but works eventually with iPhone but was nigh impossible with Android. It has potential but just felt sorry for the bar staff. Good luck.

The Sussex is one of our locals. We love it. Brought a couple of friends along this time and they were of like mind. Already planning our return visit.

Very busy table delayed by 30mins. Food outstanding staff pleasant. Food area small and cold.
