The Stonhouse

I've been here many times before. This visit was somewhat disappointing. I had fish, broccoli, beans and cauliflower puree. The puree was cold. The greens warm, and only the fish was hot. The chips also could have done with a few more minutes in the fryer too. My portion was also very small compared to the roast which was very generous. I've been when it's been busier, so am not sure why the food was cold.

We were sat under a speaker, so it did make conversation a bit hard. But service was friendly and very attentive, food was excellent.

Lovely young man greeted me and served us and couldn’t do enough for us. We came with a baby and a toddler and nothing was too much trouble.

Good food and buzzy atmosphere. Slightly grumpy waiter to begin with who warmed up as the evening went on. Boarding on very noisy by the time we left.

Excellent Sunday roast with decent vegetables that weren’t messed around with. Service was speedy and jolly, all in all very good.

Service was rushed and the we were abandoned. Roast was very average, can’t believe charged for Yorkshire puddings as extra. Nowhere else around does that. Shame.

Mains were great - between us tried the steak, sea bream fillet and chicken escalope. The starters however were just average. We tried the calamari, mezze board and bread and nothing stood out .

Altogether a really lovely meal and evening. Great pub, lovely staff, outstanding food. Marked down for value, although I used their January voucher for 50% off. Assuming full price I think it's a little pricey, but understand everything is, staffing costs, ingredients, etc.

A lovey New Year’s Eve lunch on Sunday afternoon - great service.

Servers very friendly and attentive. Roast good if a little cold. Fish and chips dire - small, greasy and bland. Mushy peas were dreadful. Focaccio was simply toasted bread and bore zero resemblance to the real thing. Finally a pistachio crème brûlée looked and tasted disgusting. We were reminded as we were ordering dessert that we had 35 minutes to go.

Jean Michel provided exceptional service, and other staff were also good. The food was much improved from our visit in May, and I would now recommend The Stonhouse to all.

Delicious Sunday lunch with excellent service. Staff were welcoming and very considerate of our dog, giving him a water bowl and biscuit! Would definitely recommend this great venue.

I used to love the Stonhouse but hadn't been in a couple of years. The food was atrocious. Sirloin steak, ordered "rare", was "well done", "sweet potato chips" became "potato chips". Most incompetent waitress ever. Totally shameful.

We had a great lunch. Super friendly atmosphere and good service. Our first choice of fish pie had sadly sold out already but our second choices were still delicious - and very large! Thank you.

This well-run pub and restaurant is definitely worth visiting—amicable and helpful service.

I went with my Mum and Aunt who found the noise a little high - not because people were rowdy but there were just a lot of them! - Otherwise another excellent pub lunch with very little waiting around. Excellent food and cosy atmosphere - exactly what a welcoming pub should be

Staff are amazing but obviously the restaurant was very busy tonight and food not up to the usual standard but you can forgive that due to the number of covers they had.
