You could tell the food had was at the end of the day as the potatoes were quite hard and obviously were a rushed "new batch". I would suggest the position of table 12 isn't the best idea as i spent my whole visit having food lifted over my head or people squeezing past me in my seat you are right by the toilets, adjacent table and the entry/exit to the bar.

Disappointed that we were literally stuck in a corner jammed in not what I expect . Food was very good but wasn’t asked if we wanted drinks replenished or how the meal was until we asked for the bill If your advertising it as a restaurant then you have a lot to learn it was really just a basic pub meal Very disappointing

The staff are super friendly and the food is great, but the acoustics made it very difficult to hear members of our party.

We’ve been regular customers for years, but were surprised at how slow the service was to start with. But after a while they got back to their efficient, friendly and helpful ways, and food was outstanding as ever. We’ll be back ....

This is not the first time we have been to the Rising Sun and it will not be the last. Overall a good meal, good service but the price of a bottle of Prosecco was higher that many of the wines on offer. A food atmosphere and the staff are great. The small steaks were not as good as usual (the butchers fault) but cooked to perfection Always pleasure to dine here

It was very very busy when we arrived so it was a bit hectic getting our drinks and getting to our table. Food arrived in good time considering how busy it was . Small portions unfortunately and a little overpriced. Otherwise a nice experience but would not go back again Ona sunday.

The food was excellent and good value but it was a shame we had to wait so long to be served. The pub's reputation is well known locally and well deserved.

The Rising Sun is a great country pub, with a warm atmosphere and serving excellent food. We had an enormous roast lunch, that included an imaginative and highly flavoursome vegetable selection. The puddings (apple crumble and cranachan parfait were equally tasty. Service is always friendly and responsive.

Great food, good service and well kept beer. They coped very well with a busy new year's day lunchtime. The crispy beef with chili is excellent.

Just returned from a delicious Sunday roast. Plenty to eat and well presented. Good attentive service. No room for a pudding , sorry! Nice environment.

The roast was generally very nice. Beef and lamb were great. Sadly not all the veg on the menu didn't make it onto the plates for all the roast dinners. The roast pork was more like a few slices of bacon than actual pork. And no crackling....... that was a disappointment. No senior members of stafff around to complain to.

Came here to the restaurant part with a friend on my recommendation as I raved about my previous visit. My friend’s gnocchi was edible but over cooked. This was brought to the waitress’s disinterested attention. She detachedlgy remarked that she would tell the chef. I’m sure she didn’t. My plaice and vegetables were good though the presentation was sloppy with the sauce thrown on top. From start to finish we weren’t welcomed or bid farewell or asked if we were enjoying the meal. Disappointing overall.

We always enjoy our meals at the Rising Sun. I just have to remember not to ask for a large portion, small is plenty particularly when I ask for addons like squid rings (always superbly tender) and sweet potato chips.

We waited 1.5 hours for our starter! The staff did not appear to know what they were doing. The risotto was excellent and the steak reasonable for the price.

Happy to get a booking at very short notice on a busy Sunday. Lovely evening, friendly and really cheerful staff...even after what was probably a long Fathers Day lunch session! Food was great especially the Sunday roast. Very dog friendly, nice amount of bar, drinking and casual dining space with separate dining room for bigger groups and families. We’ve been here on several occasions at different times of day and are always have a good time.

Love it here, our favourite local pub. Perfect Sunday, nice family walk then a Sunday roast. The lamb was lovely and tender served with tasty veg, huge Yorkshire pudding and delicious gravy.

A rather stark dining room with scrubbed tables and plain decor. The food was reasonable although my starter of mackerel pate was rather meager and the main of pork sausage was unspectacular. Very pleasant staff and good service.
