Food delicious - perfectly cooked steak, crispy calamari - and the menu was appealing. Service attentive. Decor properly pub-like in a good way. Didn’t have pizza but other peoples’ looked good and they’re great value.
Friendly, casually professional. Lovely food. A feel good experience. Has a cool but unpretentious air where you feel very welcome and comfortable and staff are attentive but friendly. Would recommend
Great pub and restaurant, lovely old building, good choice of drinks and food, friendly staff.
Nice local Pub , we were looking for a traditional place to have a genuine sunday roast as tourists in town. We found it. Tasty and great portions.
Very good food and great atmosphere. Nice traditional pub with modern menu. Sunday lunch was excellent and good sized portions. we will definitely go again
Good food on the whole- we went for the roasts and whilst the chicken was excellent the beef was a bit tough and the Yorkshire pudding a bit dry. Good service and ambience though.
Inattentive service, worse food eg. just two roast potatoes from the freezer which were not crispy, a cold tiny dollop of lumpy bread sauce, what bad pub roasts were like 20 years ago
The service, the staff and the food was amazing. We ordered two Sunday roasts and we were delighted about how big the portion was. The meat was really tasty, as well as the starters. In fact, we were surprised about the Calamari with Alioli, they were incredibly fresh and tasty! We enjoyed every single thing and we will repeat for sure!
Had a great time doing the quiz. The quizmaster is a great bloke and you can get food, booze and everything else to make for a great evening.
One of the best Sunday roasts I've had- and I've had a few. The staff were brilliant too. The place was packed but the high ceilings and skylights kept the atmosphere tranquil.
Food was incredibly so-so, certainly of a lower standard than one has come to expect from a pub that looks as though it takes itself pretty seriously. Also, the food came to table so quickly it was obvious it had been heated up rather than cooked on site. The staff were friendly but inept. Won’t be going back to eat, just for a drink as the pub side of the operation is nice.
Sorry but this is not as good as it used to be. Maybe new management? Dry fish, chips chewy and not hot, beef tough. Disappointing.
Staff were rude. I normally don’t mind dining alone but here it was not a great experience. The waitress at the end taking my payment tisked at me when I put my pin code in - like I was a child? Will not be returning, even though I really enjoyed the food.
Totally recommend for Sunday lunch. Great atmosphere and the food was excellent. Probably recommend the roast beef over the Pork Belly (which was really quite rich) and according to my wife, the Nut Roast was one of the best she has had. And desserts were delicious. Family friendly.
Service was great. Beautiful pub. Roast dinner was barely warm on cold plates although good taste. Nice touch with free prosecco for mums. Son had burger but unfortunately he was throwing up after lunch! Not sure what caused that!
Having grown up next to this pub and my mum still living next to it, it has always been close to my heart, the food is excellent and the atmosphere and gin selection superb, my only disappoint is some times, especially at the bar and sometimes in the restaurant it is apparent as to who they want in this pub and who they do not and I have found that frustrating very frustrating, I hope the pub does not forget it is located next to a council estate and those people have the same rights to buy a drink in this pub as anyone else, I drink in there every QPR match day and we dine as 7 people monthly so it is not like we are not contributing to the success of this establishment less so than anyone else.
Unfortunately no pies left on the menu (British Pie Week). We came a long way to sample the pies, so we were left somewhat disapointed...
Top pub in all counts! Food, staff and service is always impeccable. Nothing further needs to be said. Cool walking down the street of heaven.
I love this pub, however my wife and I both ordered the roast beef which was beautifully presented with generous portions. The meat was cut too thick and was tough. disappointing when that is the centrepiece of your meal. Everything else was great. If the meat was tender as it should be, this would have been a 5 star review.
Generally very pleasant, the food was very tasty and good quality I would recommend and re visit. My only niggle was that my food was served Luke warm rather than hot.
Pub is very cosy, lovely Sunday roast, really welcoming staff. Highly recommend if you're looking for somewhere to go for a drink and a meal.
A fantastic Mother's Day trip out - Kind & friendly staff, great service & a lovely atmosphere! We will be back again soon. Many thanks
First time visiting The Princess Victoria and we were not disappointed. Food was lovely and quite large portions. The servers again were lovely and it felt very comfortable to be there. It was quite busy being Mothering Sunday so service was understandably a little slower but I would definitely recommend and we will be visiting again.
Execellent service, great food Family friendly too Good atmosphere Very relaxed Very helpful staff who know there stuff. We didn’t have to wait too long fo food or paying the bill.woupd definitely recommend it
Great Sunday roast. Service was good, food was tasty and a very friendly pub setting. Very traditional offering which is just what we were after. Would be delighted to go back.
We went there for our post-civil-wedding dinner and it was a lovely intimate evening with just a few friends. I've always liked this gastro pub and was sad when it was closed, but the new refurbishment this place has undergone really brings out its character even more than before and the food was even better than I remember. Staff was friendly and helpful as always. All in all, a great experience and a place worthy of favourable recommendation.
Central heating not working and were not informed. Valentines dinner wearing our coats!! No apology and Manager indifferent, Food was fine. Valentine themed cocktail which was good but no real atmosphere -too cold?.
Good food; lovely roast beef. And great service. Room was a bit cold. Plates and food could have been warmer. Very reasonable wine list. And good range of ales.
Friendly, helpful staff and lovely, buzzy Sunday lunch atmosphere. Clearly very dog friendly so felt like a pub in the country. Tasty dips to start but the flat bread was a little too charred. I enjoyed pumpkin gnocchi which was delicious but came without the promised rocket salad. Unless the garnish was the salad? My husband's roast beef and daughter's burger were both hugely decadent and succulent. Left us all too full for the famous sticky toffee pudding though. Next time...as we'll definitely go back. Maybe avec pooch.
Great atmosphere. Loved the Marquez sausages and lovely roast. Finally, very dog friendly!
The meal at The Princess Victoria was delicious! I have been to this venue a couple of times now and it never disappoints. The service was efficient and friendly, and the unexpected addition of the quiz was highly enjoyable. I would happily visit again and recommend to any of my friends/family.
Really great pub with really great food, but food wait time were not communicated to us when we ordered and it took forever for the food to arrive and for us to pay at the end too! All in all, would come back for the food though!
We had our latest new year party here. It had a very good atmosphere and pleasant service. Food was amazing, house wine was also tasty. I would recommend your restaurant to my friends.
Good atmosphere, pleasant staff, efficient service and good food. Good local gastropub with menu that kept vegetarian son and girlfirend happy as well as meat eating husband.
Very friendly, helpful staff. We enjoyed all dishes we tried - especially the steak pie (a daily special), calamari & bread. Will certainly go back
Great value in January with 50% off food. Great steak and excellent wines by the glass. Nice serving staff. A big improvement on previous management
Food was great also the gins are amazing with very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Really beautiful pub lots of space and lovely atmosphere. Definitely recommend
Staff were lovely and very helpful. Food was amazing, good size portions. Easy to book a table on line :) Will definitely be back .
Excellent Sunday roast and good value for London - but a big event, crying children and all the hard surfaces made for a very noisy occasion.
Food disappointing - menu was very standard pub food and the dining room very quiet - yet still food was poor in quality and cooking. Sorry - but won't be coming back.
Lovely characterful building, lovely food, lovely drink and lovely service. What’s not to love! I’ll be going back for some more of that. And yes, the scotch egg is bloody lovely!
Menu was not as good as the previous version of the PV. Pizza? Really? Service was quite slow and it was not even that busy on a Sunday evening. Unfortunately, we will not be visiting this restaurant nearly as much as we have in the past.
Very ordinary, sadly. Erratic service meant one main course came with our starter. One dessert was almost inedible. The food generally was of ok pub standard but not worth going out for as a destination.
Sent the beef out cold, had to send it back. What professional chef does that? Portions of the Sunday roast were dismal, a handful of greens, one parsnip, two small potatoes. Shame to say I am very unlikely to come back.
Excellent food, great service and comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. The group of 17 from work was so full of praise even 2-3 days later! I highly recommend a visit!1
The starters were good and the flat bread delicious. But from then things went downhill. We were told early on that all the roast mains were not available but suddenly things were back on track and we were able to order. But what we finally received was disappointing. Apart from extremely slow service, the cabbage was undercooked, the roast potatoes overdone and the meat only so so. So all In all not a good dining out experience. However, the waiters were friendly and the restaurant went out of its way to make amends by not charging us for the mains.
Excellent lunch had by all in this beautiful gastropub. The food was delicious and we had very good service. And the restaurant is puppy friendly !
My roast potatoes were not great they seemed deep fried and hard in the middle, apart from that the perfect roast. Great services, great staff.
Had Sunday roast with family and friends. Great food and friendly staff. Great atmosphere! Love this place. Will definitely be back and you should too.
We found this place after watching Anthony Bourdain and Nigella Lawson share a scotch egg on CNN’s Parts Unknown. The Victoria Princess has since changed ownership and no longer serves the Whitebait and fat chips. However, the scotch eggs didn’t disappoint and the staff was fabulous.
