Our first visit to The Priest Hole was brilliant no problems excellent food, drinks and service will definitely be going back.
Food, service and staff were very good, would definitely return
I booked my table a couple of days ago to make sure I got it. We had a really nice meal with lovely attentive but not in your face service! 😊👍👍
Had a great Sunday lunch and the staff were so friendly and welcoming
Lovely welcoming place. Attentive staff who have good banter. Food really nice. Only downside is they have no cellar so there are no draught drinks available if that's what you like. Will definitely be back next time we are in Ambleside.
Our Friend had the lamb but there was only 6 pieces of lamb, which to be fair he said was delicious but was clearly insufficient for a main meal. We all loved Katie, who is credit to you and brilliant as front of house. The other 3 in the party loved their meals. We will be back but will be careful what we order.
Lovely food and atmosphere. Great friendly service , would recommend a visit.
Food wasn't as good as we'd thought it would be, it was heavy and rich. We bought expensive items on the menu and wished we hadn't, we wish we'd stuck with the classics which were cheaper, and probably would have been better.
Great food, good service, nice friendly staff and lovely atmosphere.
Looked forward to our visit as always , but Sunday dinner wasn’t the best. Yorkshire pudding wasn’t good at all and roast potatoes were bad. I don’t know if this was a one off… The 2 other meals we ordered were good.
The staff were very attentive and helpful. The food was excellent and we didn't have to wait long after ordering. I had the home made steak and ale pie with chips and veg! Partner had salmon. Both very good portions. Nice atmosphere and friendly. Would definitely book there again, and would recommend.
A very enjoyable visit. We went on a Tuesday night which is ‘Fish Night’. I can recommend the fish cake starter and salmon main course. Delicious. Very welcoming and pleasant staff too.
The ambience and food was average, big on quantity but lacking in quality. Didn’t really feel like a quality restaurant, more like a pub.
Good menu, very nice food, friendly and well organised staff - would definitely recommend. We had a great meal.
Really nice food the toilets could be better but really nice time
Lovely ambiance.Food was excellent in taste and presentation. Staff very attentive and would highly recommend.
Not up to the usual high standard we normally have at the Priest Hole. Sunday Roast Chicken Breast was a leg!!! Roast potatoes, could have built a wall with them. Tasted as though they had been sitting roasting all afternoon. Red wine which is normally at room temperature was cold as the restaurant was a bit on the cool side. I normally have never had any issues here. I must just remember not to have a roast on a Sunday again.
It was our second visit to the Priest Hole; we visited the last time we were in the lakes. It was my daughter’s 8th Birthday. When we arrived the staff had organised a banner and balloons at the table. It made her day! The food was amazing - the pies are to die for and the kids menu is perfect for the kids. The service was warm, friendly and welcoming. What more could you ask for?! We will be back the next time we visit. Thank you.
Lovely venue, attentive staff and good meal. Very much worth a visit.
The food is amazing and customer service is paramount excellent
AS always food amazing however lacking a front of house directing things and keep a watchful eye out. We had to get the attention of a member of staff to get both the menu’s and also to place an order - to many standing around chatting
Staff were very pleasant. Food was fast & really delicious.
Food was excellent and the staff were amazing coping with a very very busy service, will definitely return
The food was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Lots of choice on the menu. Will definitely be going back next time we visit the area.
Good service. Great food. Very enjoyable evening. Will come again
Busy place, very efficient and helpful staff, food really amazing.
We always come for our Sunday roast when we are in Ambleside and you never disappoint . Everything is always amazing. We will be back.
Last minute booking. Food was very nice. Will definitely go here again.
We enjoyed our visit, the staff were very help ful
Only our 2nd visit, excellent food served by friendly helpful staff. Would definitely recommend.
Booked a table…. We were early but table ready it was a rotten wet night in Ambleside… staff all very pleasant food was lovely 2x Sunday lunches served very prompt and then a sharing sticky toffee that was top notch….. will go back next time we are in Ambleside.
Very nice meal inside a historical building Have the pie!
Lovely place great food and ambiance will definitely return ….
Nice enough for a quick stop, ask for your steak less cooked than you want it.
Amazing as always! Excellent service and the food is very tasty
Excellent Sunday lunch served by friendly and helpful staff - recommended.
One meal was okay-starter was good, main, the lamb was excellent however ruined by placing on top of cold couscous salad. The other meal was poor. Panko prawns had little taste but the tomato based sauce had far too much vinegar making it overly tart. To further the disappointment, the gnocchi main had the same sauce! The gnocchi needed another minute in the fryer as it was too “mushy “. This main was left 3/4 untouched. When asked if we enjoyed it, wasn’t that evident. Service was fair but lacked enthusiasm or care. This was one of our favourite restaurants in Ambleside but I suppose things change, not always for the better. We learn 😟
Off to a poor start, told our reservation wasn't until 8.15pm,however we could have our table now, it would be 'Ok'. Some delay on starters, only 2 of our 4 having cold starter and two bread, however restaurant was quite busy. Main courses enjoyable, but very large portion sizes, only 1 person managed to finish. Big delay again on coffees, and as we had booked a taxi for 8.30 thinking we would be finished long before then, we were quite rushed at the end of our meal, not a good feeling for elderly parents.
Staff very professional good service steak could have been a better size
The staff were amazing. The setting idyllic. The welcome warm. The willingness to accommodate was second to none and the food was WOW!
Great food , quick service and friendly staff. We have eaten here several times before and will definitely be back.
Loved this restaurant . Such lovely attentive staff, amazing food. Great value, we will return.
Wonderful Sunday Lunch at The Priest Hole. Sat outside in the sunshine. The food was exceptional and the service superb. Highly recommended and be sure to book.
Food and service were both very good. We all enjoyed our visit
Fabulous! We were celebrating my Husband's 60th Birthday so a banner & Balloon on the table was a lovely touch.. Thursday night was steak night, & you didn't disappoint.. the sirloin was cooked to perfection as requested (medium). choice of potatoes & sides & a choice of 4 sauces was a great way to create your own perfect meal. Not often I clear a plate but I did this time.. Great place to eat, staff very friendly & helpful .. Will definitely be back..
Wonderful meal we booked again on the spot, for the following evening
Great tasting, good value, food in a friendly, relaxed environment.
Food was great staff were very pleasant and friendly excellent place to dine
Great staff great food will be visiting again Very soon
Nothing special, staff training was a bit loud and distracting too
