What a lovely place to eat quirky environment with friendly staff and the food was delicious
Good food. Busy so service a little slow. Would recommend booking.
Food was fabulous. One waiter a little miserable - knocked over a glass which luckily was empty and didn’t even apologise. Otherwise a very enjoyable experience.
Generous Sunday roast serving. Clean and staff very friendly we choose it mainly because it dosent allow dogs in and we dined her two years ago and are glad you have remained dog free
Delicious Sunday Roast. Very generous portions. Additional side of Pigs in Blankets and cauliflower cheese (more than plenty for x2 people). Really friendly and accommodating as we were early. Big thumbs up from us
Service was good. Reasonable price. Restaurant is nice inside. Food wasn’t quite on form. Jake was very salty and chicken a bit over cooked.
Had the trio of meat sunday roast. It was amazing, brilliant service, friendly staff. Highly recommend a visit.
The food was excellent. The service was slightly slow but it didn’t matter to us. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere was great. Would definitely return.
It was Steak night ,the food as always was great ,lovely staff ,lovely place
Excellent food and service staff are brilliant thanks to you all
Service parfait! Endroit très agréable. Cuisine excellente! Qualité depuis des années toujours au rendez-vous! Je recommande!
Good as usual. Steak pie is great. Beer on tap would be good tho
Sunday roast, was told the pork came with stuffing but none arrived, apparently it’s a side dish… IN WHAT WORLD! They did give us some, 2 tiny pack balls… Rest of the food was decent though How could you do better? Stuffing is standard with a Sunday roast!
A wonderful place, fantastic atmosphere, unbelievable food and superb service 😊 An exceptional dining experience. Thank you so much 😁 Steve Downie CEO Breakthrough Recovery Chorley Group
Good food generous portions, steak pie was very nice served with carrots and broccoli
The food was good but my partner's steak and ale pie was a little dry. Whilst gravy was provided she does not like a lot of gravy.
Food was fabulous and reasonably priced. Would recommend it to others
Great staff and good food, and very good value had
Nice place to eat. Service was fab, food was lovely. Thank you.
Excellent food and great staff a small oasis in Ambleside.
Sunday roast was very hot. Asked for it to be reheated, Also surprised it didn’t come with any green vegetables
Service was very slow and staff were not particularly friendly
Disappointing, drinks were delivered after later orders, staff paid more attention to lighting and fans than customer service, pastries and batter were burned and left a bad taste in the mouth. Perhaps we were just unlucky, but certainly not as we remembered it from previous visits.
First time but would go back. food was lovely, but could have been a little hotter meals not hot hot just warm.
It was a ‘good’ overall evening meal out. It was a Friday evening so was busy and it had a good atmosphere, lots of talking and laughing. As a result the service was understandably a bit slow but acceptable, but still the staff were happy and friendly. The food was good and we left feeling content. We visit Ambleside four times throughout the year on weekends away and always try to eat at The Priest Hole, usually for lunch as it’s become a bit of a ‘tradition’ for us and we look forward to returning again later in the year.
Lovely relaxed place .Great food and service. Great value all round.
Great food, really friendly staff. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a good place to eat in Ambleside. Thank you Adam and Sarah!
A few things were off the menu and wine list. Overall, a good night out though.
Delicious entree and starter. Our server was so attentive and helpful. An amazing experience.
Good service, very helpful and friendly staff. Large portions of excellent food at reasonable prices.
This is our second visit and the food was amazing again.
Good food , friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Not overpriced
We've been coming to the priest hole for yrs every time we're in ambleside either just the two of us or with members of our family and it has never dissapointed the standard has always been consistent. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food has always been fantastic.
Excellent food great staff best sticky toffee pudding ever thank you.
The staff were helpful and accomodating, and the meals delicious.
Food very well prepared and service was excellent, reasonably priced
It was my brother in laws birthday and when we told a member of staff they brought out a cake with candles that was such a lovely thing to do and we were well looked after. Thank you.
Good food and friendly service Will come again when we are in Ambleside
A very interesting place. The food was very good. The staff were lovely.
Welcome and staff very pleasant. Limited wine list, we had flat iron and ribeye … chips tooo chunky, tomato not cooked enough. Overall - had better but also have had a lot worse!!
Good food and service and not too noisy. Liked the choice of back ground music.
Good food! Really enjoyed dining there. My clients liked the place too.
Excellent food. We wanted a Sunday Roast snd that’s what we had. Fabulous food and great friendly service. Will return
The food was barely warm. The drinks didn't arrive until we were over halfway through our meal and only after reminding the waitress twice. Also they brought a white wine when a Rose had been ordered.
Lovely roast dinner and good service. Will definitely be re-visiting!
Lovely meal friendly staff. Good atmosphere. We will definitely come back when we’re here again
Compared to previous visits service was slow and food was of extremely poor quality with some burnt and some undercooked. Extremely disappointing.
Nice food and a friendly team, we really enjoyed it.
One of Ambleside’s best! The Sunday Roast is a feast and highly recommended. We both had succulent slices of sirloin with mash and roast potatoes and a selection of vegetables. The Yorkshire pudding was crisp and fluffy. For ‘afters’ rhubarb crumble and extremely creamy custard didn’t disappoint. Great value and we’ll be back next time…
Lovely food, very tasty and totally good value for money!!
