Even during the difficult times they are having due to COVID-19, the staff & food at the Olive Tree were great. Really hope it is not too log before we can visit again. Sending all our best wishes to everyone there.
Good choice of food on the menu Staff are really friendly, food was great
Really good food and drinks - thanks for looking after us
Very good. We had a dinner including a good bottle Italian red
The food was very good and the service was excellent. For a Friday evening we thought it was not very busy.
It was quite busy and so took a while to get our food, but the food was really good as always
Pub very noisy, when a particularly noisy crowd sat near our table staff very kindly offered us a quieter table, full Mark's for this. The front of house staff did seem to be very professional and trying to please. Food not particularly good value for money. I wouldn't expect a lamb stew to be served with just bread! Not when it costs circa £13. There weren't many people eating, this might explain why - that and a poor hygiene rating?
My sister and I enjoyed our Sunday roast. Beautifully cooked and pipping hot. Nice atmosphere and ambiance.
Lovely inside, food great, staff helpful and friendly. Slight criticism was slow food service. 50mins from order to table, 20mins for desserts. We had time to chat which was nice but it meant being rushed for parking tickets etc
Great food, great beer and great atmosphere. Will be back.
Lovely food and great staff as always. Good value for money
Went for valentines dinner...they’d made the place look perfect for a cosy romantic evening...food was good as always...will be back soon!
Great food as always. Come to the Olive Tree once a months for lunch. Lovely staff.
Everything great apart from the roast dinner being kept too long from fresh. Yorkshire pudding overcooked and roast potatoes dried out. The veg and meat were excellent and pudding to die for ! I have been in independent pub catering myself so i know this can be avoided by not cooking everything for 12 o clock !! Staff were polite helpful and welcoming we will come again but maybe earlier !
Lovely food, excellent service, clean, cosy and welcoming. Very accommodating when I had to change time of dining at the last minute.
Very good meal and staff very helpful especially with my elderly parent
Good value and great food. The service was good too
Was cold inside , nice food good staff but cold
Food was great at lunch time & lovely staff as always
It was ok, we really enjoyed the soup. Mains ok
Excellent Sunday lunch.. always top quality food, and presentation.well done to all staff.
food was gorgeous - had smoked salmon eggs from breakfast menu superb
Over £15 for two drinks seemed a bit excessesive!! Girls in restaurant worked hard but food took over 3/4 hour to arrive and didn't all come out together! More organisation needed
On entry found music far too loud. Food was ok but overpriced for what you get.
Great food & service. Just one observation, latte’s would be better served in a glass with a handle so you can hold the drink more easily
Excellent all round - well presented, hot , tasty, great portions roast pork Sunday lunch. Staff were friendly and efficient. Lovely decor and atmosphere. Fab. Thank you.
Good food, good service, lovely atmosphere. Will definitely visit more regularly Chrissie
Myself and family of 5 arrived at the restaurant at around 5:30. We were sat at the back almost tucked around the corner. It took until 6pm, so half an hour for our drinks to arrive. When the drinks finally arrived, we were served the wrong wine. We informed the waitress and after some time were presented with a different wine as they infact didn’t have the one we chose. The service was slow and the waitress was somewhat unprofessional. The starters arrived which were average. For the main, 3 of us had ordered the ham hock bubble and squeak - it was luke warm, tasteless and completely not what we expected or what was written on the menu. We informed the waitress of this and we were offered an alternative meal and glass of wine on the house, however we had waited long enough... to then wait for another meal would have been a waiting game. When the bill arrived, the waitress informed us that we were not charged for 2 of the ham hocks as we were not satisfied. However, after looking at the bill, we noticed it to be extremely over the price we expected. We then realised that we had been charged for a gin and prosecco that we hadn’t actually had. When taking it back to the waitress she produced another bill.. which was incorrect again! Overall, we did not enjoy our experience at the olive tree and I don’t think we will be returning.
Delicious roast and good quick service. Will definitely recommend to friends.
We enjoyed our visit, however we weren’t shown a wine list, we were only asked what wine we wanted. It was also quite noisy, in the bar area there was live music and there was different music in the restaurant. The waitress was helpful when we asked for soya milk in our coffee, and offered us coconut milk instead as there wasn’t any soya.
Lovely freshly cooked chips, piping hot food. Enjoyed by all.
Service was quick and friendly. Food as ever was good, no complaints. Will definitely go again.
Excellent service and beautiful, well-presented food at reasonable price. Great!
First time out in Romsey as we have just moved here and we went to the olive tree. It looked amazing outside and in. We sat down at a candle lit table and we were so excited for our first date night without the kids. We ordered our drinks and also ordered the fish and chips which was about £14 and the burger which was about the same. It was really quiet in there, only a few tables so we expected our food fairly soon. Nope... we got ours 50 minutes later and after tables that arrived after us. When our food finally arrived, my partners burger had no cheese like he’d asked for and was so thin and burnt. My fish, if you can even call it that was a chunk in soggy, oily batter with burnt uncooked “triple cooked” chips. The portion was ridiculously small for the price we were both paying for our meal. After being told that my partner would have to wait 3 minutes for cheese to be melted onto his burger, the table behind us had the same issue of their burger being burnt. In the end and after terrible table service, we paid for our drinks and left to go and get a take away because we were so hungry and didn’t want to wait any longer. The staff didn’t know who was looking after us as we had multiple ladies come and ask us the same thing. Appalling. Will not be going back. Absolutely disappointed for our first night out in Romsey.
Lovely thank you Staff were flexible We had a nice evening
The olive tree hads gone back to original menu and are now doing their wonderful fish and chips which is yummy I would have given 6 stars but wasn’t happy with the presentation of food I would have liked a plate not a bowl and disliked the paper the fish was on as couldn’t tell if you were eating paper or fish
All good nothing to complain about. Very good service too
Great food and atmosphere. Will visit again. Friendly, helpful staff.
All fine, pleasant food, pleasant staff- nothing extraordinary. It was fine
Lovely food and good service. Lots of choice on the menu.
Lovely food that lives up to the reputation. Thank you.
Very disappointed as have changed the menu and Not severing the lovely fish and chips they used to do and the dish that replaced it is not as good wouldn’t order again
Birthday meal, really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was exceptional. Such a good choice of food on the menu, took us ages to decide what we wanted as it was so hard to choose only 1!
Very disappointing as we eaten here many times. Only went for a Sunday Lunch. Ran out of lamb, would not do a large glass of wine, chicken was advertised as a half a chicken - more like a quarter breast. Food was burnt and minute. Not the fault of the waitress who was apologetic. Oh - and they over charged. Management and chef poor.
Staff are friendly brilliant atmosphere highly recommend this place. Reasonable prices
Excellent food and service, waiting staff very friendly and attentive, will definitely be going back 😬
Lovely food and very helpful and friendly staff. Would recommend.
I have always loved the atmosphere in The Olive Tree and took my friend today for Sunday lunch. We had roasts which were very tasty followed by a dessert which saw us leave feeling very full and happy! Service was friendly and all in all a lovely lunch.
Lovely smiliey girls greeted us and were very attentive. The club sandwich was basic, using Hovis type bread... Would return and try something else from the menu.
Food alright. Not all things available on menu & not informed. Service ok. Pretty inside - nice touch with candles & books on table along with how the bill is given.
