We have visited this restaurant many times over the years and even after changing ownership the food was still excellent

Very pleasant staff and comfy restaurant. Food itself was ‘OK’ with more of a Southern Thai flavour. I would say not the best Thai meal I have experienced but definitely not the worst by a long shot. Not too expensive either.

The food is excellent and the service matches up. I had the lemongrass seafood mix and the meat was plentiful and really well cooked. My partner had the massaman chicken, we shared egg fried rice and chips and had an alcoholic drink each. The total came to just under £40 and it was well worth the money.

I have visited The Old Siam on several occasions with friends. The food is consistently delicious and the staff are friendly and accommodating.

The Old Siam restaurant rang me 3 days before the booking and asked if we could move the time from 7.30 to 8.30 as they had a large group booked in at 6.30. Unfortunately this was too late for us so we cancelled. Praise that they rang and explained but a shame that they accepted the booking first and then changed it. The alternative restaurant Khao San was lovely and we will definitely return there.

Great fresh tasting food, served in good time. Always a little more expensive than Italians etc but well worth it.

Food was served quickly good portion size but we found the food quite bland with no real spice in any dish including the green curry we should probably have requested it to be a little spicy

Great food, slow service. Popular restaurant, turning people away on a busy Saturday evening. Service a bit hit and miss, spent quite a bit of time waiting for food but worth waiting for.

Good food, plenty of it and tasty. Cramped seating. 6 of us on a table for 4 despite booking over a month in advance. One of the team doesn't know how to pour beer. Most of it was froth. The toilets are laughable. Don't suppose they can do much about that now though

The Old Siam has consistently good service, and the food is always really delicious. I would recommend the vegetarian mixed starters and the prawn pad thai!

There was great service from friendly staff and excellent food with generous portions. Appropriately priced to give good value for money. Really look forward to visiting again!

We came here on a Friday evening. Fantastic food, great atmosphere and very reasonable prices. We will definitely come but time we are in York City Centre. Highly recommended

Great food, good service, good for vegetarians. Small restaurant but has a good ambiance. The only problem was that the place was cold, this is the second time we have felt cold.

Xmas night out, polite, friendly staff, really nice meal, served quickly, I a have vidited this restaurant on many special occasions and will return again. Very enjoyable.

It was really busy but the food order was taken promptly and the food was delicious. If in York again we would return. It was just around the corner from our hotel.

Great food and great service. Really nice and romantic atmosphere for my wife and I. We had been a few years ago and wondered if it would still be as good as it had been and it was. The only bad thing was they got the final bill slightly wrong but they quickly corrected it, so do check your bill before paying. Overall excellent

The Old Siam serves authentic & delicious food, speaking as someone born in Thailand. Service was quick & friendly with a nice ambience to the restaurant.

Loved the chicken satay starter. Had the Pad Thai for a meal and although was ok it was missing a bit more flavour. But would recommend my partner had the jungle curry which was very good and hot.

The Food was perfectly acceptable but the service was not what is usually expected in a Thai restaurant and the gents toilet was v poor.

In a less than half full restaurant on a Sunday night we were offered a tight squeeze table right up against the counter/bar, despite having reserved a table online in advance. The first table we actually sat at was completely unstable, so we moved nearer the door. In retrospect we would have left through it at this point! Starters were very overpriced for the quantity and quality that we received. Our main courses were reasonably priced but by far the worst versions of Massaman we have had out. The usual tasty, tender slow cooked chunks of beef were replaced by pale, small, thin pieces of tasteless, chewy, quickly stir-fried beef strips resembling cardboard both in look and in taste! The waitresses were polite enough but didn’t once ask how our meal was either during it or at the end when clearing away half of the food. We paid the full £54 bill and left hoping that we won’t ever again have this much bad luck when choosing somewhere to eat out on a weekend break.

I'll make it clear; the food was really good. I did not enjoy the meal though due to an excruciatingly loud table. I wanted to hear my family's conversation and not theirs or which exotic and expensive places they had been to. And to cap it off the card machine would not connect to the Internet so I was forced to pay cash which cleaned me out and left me short.

It is a fantastic restaurant, with friendly staff and delicious food. So many different flavours, with good sized portions. We really enjoyed the set menu for 4. I would definitely go again. We couldn't eat it all so took the rest home to enjoy the next day.
