Lovely from start to finish Steaks are beautiful ! Will definitely return, staff good, atmoshepere great, music good and in my wife's words "there was nothing Lazy about the Cow"
Nice decor & friendly staff. Although offered a restricted menu choice the food was nice, but the restaurant was very busy with Christmas parties so slow service at times. Had to wait 10mins for sauces to accompany meal & 20mins for drinks.
Only half the normal menu size because of christmas. Couldn't even order any sides because it's christmas. Poor service. Was going to order dessert but it was impossible to ask, as nobody came to check on us and lack of staff around the restaurant.
Can only describe this visit as disappointing. Had looked at the website before my visit to check the menu, which had the festive menu but no date from which it started. When we got there they told us no festive menu was avaliable, but the table next to us could have it as they had pre booked it. Poor choice of drinks. Only offered 1 mock tail. Decided on fish and chips for main. Lovely and hot, chips were tasty, wasn't too keen on fish. Dessert was strange, a cookie and brownie on the same plate. Would not return here.
The venue was really good with live music. The food was not good very little fish just covered in batter and also cold. Would not done there again.
Great food but over priced, under presented. Starter - great salmon pate & loads of butter, but one slice of sourdough to eat with it!
Poor quality food, limited menu not the same as the website explanation was given but still wasn't a good choice. Manager apologised and knocked money off bill but would have appreciated good quality food. Left feeling hungry and very disappointed.
Very limited lunchtime menu. Despite there being only two other tables occupied the service was VERY slow. We even had to take our bill to the bar to pay it. Having said that the quality of the food was good and there was plenty of it.
This chain has lost its way. The menu choice is now very limited - the sharing steaks (which used to be the best thing on the menu) are no more, along with the taster desserts. And who ever heard a of a steak house without onion rings! The wine we chose was out of stock! Music is too loud and intrusive. Food was good but the ambience spoiled it - we're clearly not alone in thinking this as the place was less than half full on a Friday night.
Music too loud, not conducive to eating, other customers had opened the fire escape so cold air and cigarette smoke reaching our table. Food average. Wouldn't have paid for their premium food in that environment. Shame - have been in the bar on live music nights and it was fun but this experience was awful.
food and service was excellent. But dining in a Saturday evening, it was like sitting down in the middle of a night club! This should be mentioned on the website
Person serving didn't have a great knowledge of products available & after asking for the bill twice we decided to leave our seats and pay at the bar. Good was good.
The experience was fantastic! Food and service excellent, I had tempura prawns and Shanghai noodles! atmosphere great and loved music from duelling pianos - don't miss this place!
Friendly welcome, good service and a pleasant atmosphere meant an excellent evening was had by all. Not a huge choice on the menu but enough to choose from. Steaks superb all be it, a little pricey !
So I knew I was going to a steak house but I did expect there to be just one veggie option.. Such as a bean burger, or even a salad!!! Really not a fussy veggie but find it unheard of ... Even Nando has 3/4 options!!!
Superb service, lovely environment and a great food made our evening wonderful! Steaks were cooked to perfection and the wine was excellent. We will be returning soon!
Very attentive service, without being intrusive, and an excellent meal for 2 for a reasonable price in warm and pleasant surroundings........an enjoyable experience all round.
Massively restricted menu, differing from the one posted on the website. Many food items were unavailable. The price of a small coke was excessive .
We had booked a table for 3 a few weeks ago for lunch on the 18th December. I had checked on line and we chose the lazy cow because we liked the Christmas fayre menu. However, when we asked for the Christmas menu we were told that we should have pre-ordered. Nowhere on-line did it tell us we needed to pre-book. The staff were very good and checked with the chef but there were only 2 turkey meals left which was very disappointing. The food we received was very nice and the place is lovely but lacked the Christmas feel, I presume if we had pre-booked we would have had crackers etc on the table. It may be a good idea to post on-line if you need to pre-order.
Very very disappointed. Booked looking forward to special lunch to use voucher won at school raffle. When showed to staff they went to check with manager and advised would not accept. Apparently The Lazy Cow has had a change of owner, and they would not honour. The voucher makes no reference to owning company or any limitation for use. The name remains unchanged, logo unchanged and in fact the manager who issued the voucher also still works there. Will not be returning and certainly not recommending to friends, in fact will advise avoid visiting this venue.
Absolutely horrendous experience, service slow, food terrible and don't bother complaining because the manager couldn't care less! Total waste of time and money. Shockingly bad!
Great food in lovely surroundings. Got a bit confused when we arrived as the name of the place had changed to The Beech House? Would visit again based on experience.
When we arrived there were tables complaining that they had been waiting a considerable amount of time for their drinks. We sat down and immediately gave them our drinks order. Twenty minutes later and no sign of our drinks so we left. I would not be too concerned if this was a one off but we went a few months back and waited nearly thirty minutes for a drink. After asking several times we were told there were no clean glasses and we would have to wait. I love the food here and really want the restaurant to do well but as the service has been consistently poor I will not be going back.
Terrible. The steaks were ordered medium rare and came back not only well done but burnt! We had to send them back... despite the restaurant portion of the establishment only having around 3 tables worth of people and two servers, service was dreadfully slow. Never going back.
Apart from the fact that it is now called The Globe and not the Lazy Cow it was lovely food, good service and pleasant surroundings
good food, decent prices , atmosphere pretty decent too. great location easy to get to and spend some time to relax and enjoy the company
