More about the restaurant: The Lamplighter Dining Rooms
The Lamplighter boasts tuna on rye and some damn fine cherry pie – and what are those trees? – but wait, this isn’t that Lamplighter. Diane, we’re in Windermere, and at The Lamplighter Dining Rooms on the High Street you can pick up a superb meal in scenic surroundings. Tony and Sue Tasker, the brains behind it, began their culinary careers way back in the 1960s, and they bring all that experience to bear on the food at The Lamplighter, with local ingredients and British classics to the fore. Fleetwood fish, Cumberland sausages and Lakeland beef are there, as well as a huge range of local cheeses and beers with which to wash them down, not to mention some international favourites. The menu regularly changes – and they do a stonking Sunday lunch – so all we can say is head on over and book a table in the heart of the Lake District.
