Nice ambience, but wine prices are quite expensive compared to what you can find in the retail market. Should focus on pricing up food rather than wine
Some nice wines. Friendly and informal service. High quality food. I always enjoy my visits to the Kensington Wine Rooms, and this was no exception. A few more slightly aged wines would be nice, but I am nit picking... Overall a really good experience.
We had a lovely evening with perfect service, exquisite food, exciting wine, relaxing and welcoming environment! Strongly suggested if you want something different from the main street razzle+dazzle.
There was a pleasant atmosphere, the waiter was very helpful, and the food was delicious. We will definitely return when we are next in London.
Always a crowd-pleaser. Fantastic wine selection by the glass and delicious food to match. Good service, sensible prices. You wont be disappointed with your visit.
I visited the location for nibbles and drinks with a friend. This place has good wine, decent service and a great ambiance. A very enjoyable experience altogether.
Great Atmosphere .Quality and original. food and fantastic wine list . Service polite and efficient .great wine bar with small plates of food if wanted .
Atmosphere was nice. Food was good when it arrived - though we needed to remind the waiter numerous times for some dishes, and the olives never arrived - though we were charged for them. There was a problem with the wine dispenser for the large glass. It was plunked down on the table at the same volume as the small glasses with no explanation. We mentioned it to the waiter who then did a manual pour to top up, but it was very unclear if it was the right amount. A service charge of 12.5% was added for our lackadaisical, inattentive service. Would I go back? Possibly, if I was standing outside the door and wanted a glass of wine and a nibble. Otherwise, there are a lot of alternatives with less hassle nearby.
The staff werevery friendly and knowledgeable . Delicious food, well served. The price was towards the top end but worth it. Whats not to love.
I requested a table by the window.. though on arriving all the places by the window were taken. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly. The food (calamari as starter and onglet steak) were delicious combined with the recommendation of wine.. the desert Umathum was so delicious (recommended by a member of the staff) that I bought a bottle to take it with me back home!! Most definitely recommended..
Food amazing - Had steak Wine unbelievable - we had the white sancerre Staff were very helpful and friendly, atmosphere was nice - I preferred the feel of the Fulham Wine Rooms but unfortunately that closed. Would highly recommend for small groups or dates.
Great ambiance, good variety of wines, good service. It is always fun to try and taste different wines. We dont recommend the oysters but everything else was fantastic!
Great mix of a cosy feel but lively atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and efficient. The food and wine were delicious- wonderfully soft fillet steak and warming Rioja.
Beautiful location. Excellent food. Staff were at the top of their game. Couldn’t flaw it, it was a great evening and I’d highly recommend it.
This was my second time at The Kensington Wine Rooms. It has a friendly atmosphere, fantastic range of interesting wines, some good food and good service. And the price point is just right.
Calm atmosphere, friendly service and good food, with exceptional wines. This is an ideal venue for drinks and wine tasting with snacks or for a good value meal in either main restaurant or bar/tasting area.
It’s a lovely location and the food quality is great! However, the waiters (though friendly) forgot some of our orders twice and poured the whole wine bottle into our glasses instead of leaving some wine in the cooler. Portions are relatively small but again, the quality is very good!
Go for the wines in bottle. There are many excellent wines, some also good value. The food is surprisingly good. The staff is very helpful and give advice on matching food and wine.
Charming waiter, delicious food, liked the idea of wine pairing but it didn't quite come off. Quiet but convivial place for a midweek lunch with friends or colleagues.
Had a really fun evening. Great service, great wine. The place is a less formal wine bar with good food. I will definitely be going back.
Great wines, great food and great atmosphere. Really enjoyed the whole experience. The wine list in particular is very impressive. Highly recommended to anyone who likes wine
Great wine selection, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend and will be back again in the near future. If you enjoy wine, check it out
Very good experience! Excellent staff, excellent food, excellent wine, excellent ambiance and great location! Especially the cote de bouef is an excellent choice for two. Absolutely worth a visit!!
Booked in for a family Christmas meal and was informed that the Christmas menu would be suitable. At a set price of £35 you’d expect it to work out more reasonable than their standard menu. Turns out they essentially charged £5 for a amuse bouche. Starter was of huge portion size and rather dense. Main was distinctly average, dry over cooked goose with a lack of flavour. Pudding was a chocolate tart with what looked like squirty cream on top. Apart from the food, the wine was good and service was okay. Atmosphere was lacking. All in all - vastly overpriced and poor quality food. The rest okay. I’d recommend for a glass of wine and nibbles but approach with caution if dining.
Poor service and uneasy food - last time it was 5 out 5, this time 1 out of 10. Waiter was inattentive and bitchy, very bitchy
Good table, by the window, as requested. Helpful advice through the tasting phase of our evening with some excellent, if expensive , wines available. Enjoyable meal with good service contributed to a very enjoyable evening.Surroundings were a bit noisy, but that is probably a function of pre-Christmas timing.
Service was awful, our steaks came burnt and staff couldn't even comprehend it. Very slow for food to come out as well and came across really rude. Definitely wouldn't go again
Not enough staff on a Friday night Didn’t have the wine we wanted Couldn’t provide bread as a whole, served in small pieces on a saucer (x3 small pieces at a time but they did take that off the bill) Asked for a dish three times Cappuccino at the end was awful, bad presentation, it was just a little warm and tasted really bad - waiter removed this from the bill. Friend ordered camomille tea, water was not hot enough and tea bag was very week and floated on top of the water so could not brew - she had a pot of water instead... was charged for a bottle when we ordered glasses. Probably one of my most disappointing nights ever.
Great experience, fantastic service and delicious food. Selection of wines was fabulous and the waiter very knowledgable about the menu and selection. Food we ordered was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. I will definitely be going back!
Neighbourhood wine bar and restaurant. Comprehensive list of wines by the glass and the house champagne is excellent. Bar menu with tasty selection of tapas, cold meats and a restaurant. Very nice ambience and friendly professional service - highly recommend for a quick drink or a pleasant evening.
Too expensive for what is was but nice time. Cozy atmosphere and good service. But wine is too expensive and there is very few choice of wine at a decent price
Wine guidance was spot in and the meal was incredible. Wonderful experience all around if back in Notting Hill we will be back for sure!!
Food wasn't great and we disn't get much help for the stuff when asked to assist us with the wine tasting. The overall experience was quite cheap.
The food and the wine were outstanding at the Kensington wine rooms. We had chosen the seabass, & coq a vin. Both dishes were beautifully presented, with enticing flavours. We chose wines that were not paired with our dishes, and found them to be excellent. The staff were young, friendly, and upbeat.
Great place to go for lovely wines, delicious food, amazing service and ambiance! I highly recommend The Kensington Wine Rooms! It's my new favorite place to go to! Thank you!
Nice place, excellent meat, overall a good experience. Place was crowded and service too slow although friendly. A good adresse in this neighborhood, one we will recommend.
We had a great dinner in a friendly restaurant. The food was very good and waiters were friendly, clear and they gave proposals of food. We will book here again.
Lovely wine and nice bites to eat Unfortunately , after having a lovely time and being served by a really nice waitress, we were met by rudeness from the manager that literally turned to us and said:” you have to leave now “. Of course we were having a very good conversation and as it happens were just waiting on our taxis to arrive ( since, once lights were up we had gotten the hint it was closing). The chock was as we were leaving and walked to the other room the place was still kinda full and no one looked like they were leaving any time soon. My question is why would he be so rude to us and clearly hadn’t bother with anyone else. So yes go there for sure but be ready to meet a less friendly service from management which makes a lovely night slightly bitter.
The waitress did not know anything about wine which I found strange as it is a wine bar. Apart from that the atmosphere was good
Great menu choices and everything item has a matching wine. Food was delicious - we all had something different. Great to have over 49 wines by the glass - everyone can have what they want. And then service was excellent. Relaxed and a really lovely night.
Food was excellent, service was amazing! Great find. Best meal in London so far. Had the stone bass and it was delicious. Great wine,of course!
Excellent wine and ambiance was perfect. Service was pretty bad and choice of cheese was average which was a bit disappointing. But I would go back again as it seemed like they were understaffed on that particular day.
Really friendly and accommodating staff. Food was lovely with lots of choice and the wine was delicious. Very spacious and comfortable seating. Overall a lovely evening and will definitely recommend to friends
Great atmosphere and first class service. New chef that evening who might have been finding his feet, but we will return because of the very friendly and professional service.
food quite good .. wine by the glass no ... service and site below average .. general comment : absolutely overpriced for the level of the restaurant
We had a really fun evening trying different types of wine. The food was excellent both quality and choice. Would recommend for a fun eve with partner or friends.
Great entrees, good wine list albeit expensive, mains not as strong, desserts unappealing and service was rather slack. Great venue but not on good form on our night.
A small but excellent menu and each dish is given a suggested wine pairing. The service is quick and adequate. Setting is a rustic English bar style which was lovely.
A really nice atmosphere on a Friday night, and delicious wines. Obviously, as it's Kensington, it's not the cheapest spot, and I was a little shocked by the service charge that was added to our bill!
Lovely food and pleasant atmosphere. Great wines by glass, but if you want to order bottle, expect to pay £50+, which is a little bit steep for this casual dining. Staff very pleasant and attentive.
