A great meal. We highly recommend a visit! The black pudding Scotch eggs were delicious, as were our main courses (pan roasted duck/ steak). We will be returning! Thank you.
A lovely hotel where as a family we stayed in the lovely cottage - we all thought it great. Superb warm atmosphere great location. The restaurant had great ambience and fantastic food. All in all excellent weekend.
We had a great family meal at the Duke. The food was delicious and we would highly recommend eating here to all of my friends and family. Great service and a great time had by all.
initial confusion between staff which menu was on, the Sunday or the evening. Order taken for Sunday menu and then told it's not on. Not a good start. The well done steak was dry and tasteless the shredded duck with hoisin was just average quality and no sign of the advertised beansprouts. On the plus side the steak and stilton was good as was the trio of Lincolnshire sausage on mash. Staff were polite and welcoming but a place like this has it's heart in the kitchen. Room for improvement. We do not eat out often as we both enjoy cooking and cook to a good standard, when we do go out we want better than average food from people that do food for a living.
Duke William Hotel is ideally located close to Lincoln Cathedral and Castle. The staff were friendly and helpful when we booked in and ate in the restaurant. Our room and bathroom were immaculate and comfortable. It was also quiet as the outside seating area closed at 11pm. It was the perfect place to stay for a visit to Lincoln.
Nice food, great service from very friendly staff. Week day menu a little limited. Evening menu for Friday and Saturday night looks tempting. Will definitely return.
We really enjoyed our meal at the Duke William, the pub itself is lovely. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and so the service was excellent. Food is lovely and reasonably priced and there's a good good range of wine and beer. The only slight niggle would be that there is only one vegetarian main meal on the menu, so no choice for us, which was a little disappointing, especially as the daytime time menu had a couple of different choices. Overall we had a great time and would definitely recommend the Duke William.
The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We all enjoyed the evening and will definitely be booking again in the near future. Thank you for a lovely evening
Very small menu but steak was absolutely beautiful. We were sat by the kitchen, however, & after we'd got our food we saw lots of items come out that weren't on the menu. I think there must have been a specials menu that we weren't offered so found this disappointing.
Good ambience, interesting decor. Service very good, food freshly cooked so wait was well worth it, menu choice very good. Food beautifully presented. Thankyou for a lovely evening.

We are a young family of four. Excellent service. Lovely atmosphere. Attentive Staff. Contemporary, clean and well kept decor. Family friendly. Will definitely be going back.
We went on a Monday evening and we were served with some good food. Portions were a good size. Service was also good. Nice place to eat and a good place for a drink too.
I had wonderful oysters (3 ways) followed by duck. My husband had the steak which was perfectly cooked. We also had a nice bottle of wine- thank you
Excellent food, beautiful place and fantastic staff who helped with every ridiculous request we've had,due to bringing two fussy little kids with us. Thank you to everyone
Fabulous stay at this super boutique hotel. From start to finish everything great - lovely friendly staff, tasteful bedroom and the most comfortable bed ever! Pretty impressive cathedral too!
It was excellent all round ,friendly staff, good location ,rooms were lovely bed enormous, restaurant excellent, good outside area and the breakfast the following morning was the best way to start the day
This is not the cheapest of places but the quality of the food was excellent and the service was good. It pleased my mother, who I had taken as a Mother's Day treat, and that is not an easy thing to do.
Excellent food and atmosphere, a wonderful family evening, will definitely book again. The selection of wines were very good and the staff were very welcoming.
Wonderful food in a warm and convivial atmosphere with friendly and enthusiastic service. Prices a little on the high side hence the 5 rather than a 6. However, worth the money for a treat.
Good food, great place, friendly and helpful staff, a very enjoyable evening. The nicest steak I have had in a very long time, good beer too!
Lovely food, really quaint hotel refurb is done to a great standard, we had a lovely time, staff polite and well mannered. Will absolutely be going back
The service was great, each of the waiting staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was really tasty, obviously using top quality ingredients, it certainly pays off!
Good service and food and really nice staff. This was a last minute Thursday booking with children who the staff were great with. Everyone felt welcolm
The Duke William is a nice pub with a restaurant. We had lunch there which unfortunately took an age to arrive with the pub not too busy, however it tasted lovely. We also had dinner there. The menu was restricted and a baked potato instead of chips was not possible. Meals were incorrect when they arrived. The steaks were very enjoyable and the ambiance was nice.
Great food, friendly staff, lovely restaurant. Three of the four of us plumped for black pudding scotch egg to start and the other had blue cheese soufflé (which came with mushrooms and looked delicious!). For mains we opted for steaks and one of us had lamb. Really good steak with homemade chips and homemade onion rings! Forced in a pudding...had to be done. Raspberry creme brûlée, sticky toffee pudding, coconut pannacotta and treacle tart! Delicious! And full to the brim (not helped by the addition of a rather tasty pale ale). Definitely recommend you give The Duke a try!
Friendly, positive service. Much larger out the back than it appears from the front bar, so plenty of space (tables not crammed together). A regular for a weekend pub lunch!
The Duke William was a lovely place to stay over, with beautiful rooms. The staff were extremely helpful, both our evening meal and breakfast were first rate .
Really lovely refurbished pub/ restaurant with a select few rooms situated in the heart of the Bailgate with lots of atmosphere. Service was very good and food excellent. Staff were attentive and we were not rushed in any way.
THE MENU IN THE RESTAURANT IS QUITE SOPHISTICATED BUT DISAPPOINTINGLY THE COOKING DOESN'T MATCH IT. OUR ASPARAGUS STARTER WAS SMOTHERED IN HOLLANDAISE WHICH WAS RATHER CONGEALED. OUR MONKFISH MAIN WAS NOT QUITE COOKED. THE DINING AREA WAS NOISY WITH MANY PEOPLE SPILLING OVER FROM THE BAR STANDING TO ONE SIDE. SERVICE WAS A BIT HIT AND MISS AND I HAD TO SEARCH FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES TO FIND SOMEONE TO SETTLE MY BILL. ON THE OTHER HAND, WE STAYED THE NIGHT IN AN EXCELLENT, QUIET, WELL-APPOINTED AND COMFORTABLE ROOM AND ENJOYED A VERY GOOD BREAKFAST.
Nice food, portions a bit small and price is medium to high . It is a nice place to have drink and bite. It has a restaurant and bar area
Always our first choice when eating out in Lincoln. Excellent food and service in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
We stayed at this lovely hotel overnight and ate both evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant. Both were superb. The food was great and plentiful and we will definitely visit again

I had previously eaten and thoroughly enjoyed the experience so decided to take friends on a return visit. It didn't disappoint, everyone thought the food was superb and the staff and ambience very good. We will return. Thank you.
Great venue, brilliant staff. We missed out on roast dinner as it had all sold out, but what we had was great anyway. Would book again.
Booked table for Sunday lunch but we're told they had sold out so had to choose of menu which was a little disappointing but we were given a 10% discount of our bill. The food was excellent and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend a visit.
Hi Went in over the Easter holidays for my birthday meal with 3 friends, lovely fish and chips, very good idea that you can replace your chips with salad at no fuss, been here numerous times and never disappointed.

Nice atmosphere, good service and an excellent Sunday Roast Dinner. We've been to eat at the Duke Williams many times and it is always been a satisfactory meal.
Great food and great service when we visited. We was taken care of pretty much straight away on our visit, the menu is very reasonable too.
Great service and great food. Staff were very friendly, food was brought out promptly and the atmosphere was great. Would recommend a lot to friends.
Booked on line but put wrong time. They still managed to accommodate us but this did have a knock on effect in service as we had to wait a little longer for our meal than normal. But food was good will book again
Excellent food in a fantastic location. Great service and very impressed with the new layout to the rear of the pub. We will definitely be visiting again soon.
My husband ordered the 10oz rib eye and requested it rare, sadly it was very chewy. But every other aspect of the night was cosy and welcoming.
situated in the lovely bail area of up hill Lincoln we had a lovely meal served by friendly staff who provided a speedy and overall very good service, what more could you want :)
Great food, great service even though it was quite busy you never felt you were hurried, great environment. A lovely place to take folk who had never visited Lincoln before - they were impressed! Thankyou.
Service was great and the food was very very good ! The surrounds were very nice and look forward to going back again and trying something else on the menu
Service was excellent food very disappointing I had the vegi roast dinner.. Tasted over cooked and not fresh... Wasn't particularly well presented, everything just loaded on plate. Generous portions but I would rather less food and more appealing to the eye, which this wasn't. Service faultless.
Pork was pink and most not eatable although they did give free dessert for this. One of us asked for the soufflé starter as a main with veg but it still came on a little plate served with toast and the chips ordered did not arrive. We mentioned this and said could they make sure we still weren't billed for them but we were!
A great welcome, good beers and excellent food. Highly recommended. We ate with our family of 6 and the food was prepared well and the service was excellent.
It was fantastic. It's a wonderful pub, with lots of character. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was really good. It's great to have somewhere so nice within walking distance for breakfast (or dinner. Or just drinks)
