The Duke William

Excellent food. Great service without being intrusive. Scotch Egg in Black Pudding was wonderfully crispy and tasty. Rare Sirloin of Beef was perfect as was the accompanying greens. Highly recommended and we will be going back very soon.

Nice building but very slow service there were 4 of us we all had a Sunday roast the meat was nice but the roast potatoes were very disappointing and the veg was cold on a plus note the deserts were top class although the choice wasn't wide enough I probably wouldn't go back.

We were well looked after by kind and friendly staff. Limited menu, but that's fine as the food was excellent. Look forward to going back soon.

The staff were very friendly, the food and beer were very good indeed and the prices very reasonable. All in all, an excellent evening was had by all

A great place for a Sunday Roast but you can also choose from a small selection on the regular menu. Service was a little slow but this was made up for in the personalities of the staff who were friendly and helpful.

Great food we had the Sunday Lunch would definitely recommend it (please do book as not many tables if you have a big group) .

The staff at the restaurant were very welcoming, polite and catered for every need. The menu was limited; however, The food was hot, well cooked, delicious and value for money. Thank you to the Duke William for making our wedding anniversary evening perfect.

Excellent location at the top of steep hill, nice ambiance and surroundings, good selection of drinks including several cask ales, helpful staff but let down by very average food...

Very good food and helpful and friendly staff. Menu a bit limited and the items on the "specials" board are rather over priced. Will certainly go again

The staff were so friendly and accommodating. My friend is a coeliac and she was very helpful. The restaurant was very busy but we didn't have to wait long for anything. I would definitely recommend a visit and I am going to return.

Friendly staff, good atmosphere and no dogs in the restaurant! Portion sizes huge, but good quality too. Didn't drink from the bar but good selection of gins- perhaps for next time( drinking at lunchtime doesn't agree with me!)

Friendly staff, good food and nice cosy interior. Situated in a central location on the Bailgate. I would recommend this place for food and a drink.

Wonderful stay everyone so pleasant and helpful. Room was lovely and clean. Would certainly stay again. Right in the centre of cathedral quarter easy for both castle and cathedral also lots of eating places

First time at Duke William. Will be back, excellent food and friendly staff, especially on the busy Steampunk Weekend. We were not rushed at all.
