Unfortunately, this wasn't the best evening out we've had in Lincoln. The waitress spilt a full pint of Shandy over my husband before we'd even ordered our meals. She was very sorry, and I appreciate accidents do happen, but he had to sit in a wet shirt and jeans all evening. Two of the meals were not very hot, and I know we probably should have sent them back. The desserts were delicious, and it was lovely to sit outside for a drink afterwards, once we'd found a table that wasn't wobbling.
Service was first class Food was good just a little on the cold side restaurant was very busy Did give us all free drinks Would go back
Excellent overall experience. Venue was just right and the booking was all correct with a nice table in the restaurant. I would definitely use again.
The menu and wine choices were excellent. The service was also very good as was the atmosphere so would have no hesitation in recommending the duke William.
A warm & friendly welcome before being taken through to our table where we were left to browse the Sunday lunch menu. The food and the service were very good and my guests asked when we could return!
Pleasantly surprised at the revamp good atmosphere and friendly staff. Bit tight round the table but when asked staff to move tables over a bit more than happy to so problem resolved. prompt service marvellous food and all in all a great experience. Will definitely be returning as it so was easy to book on line which I would recommend too.
The atmosphere in the Duke William is very good. Buzzing but not noisy. The food was delicious and well presented. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. However, the small bottles of prosecco are very expensive, about £7:50 for a glass. Otherwise, lovely experience.
Excellent food,, staff very welcoming especial Ben, rooms to an high standard. Very clean. Private car parking,, a stone throw away from cathedral shops and other bars/pubs and restaurants. An excellent stay.
We had an excellent meal which a great and varied menu to choose from. The service was very good, with great staff who were very friendly and welcoming.
Staff were very accommodating when I arrived with an extra person in my party however, service was slow. We were seated in the bar rather than restaurant area and it felt as though we were forgotten about. It was 20 minutes before we had our drinks orders taken, we would have gone to the bar ourselves but on a Thursday night there was only 1 member of staff behind the bar and she was clearly very busy. Food arrived after a reasonable amount of time, our party had pasta, steak, beef pot and the duck special which everybody agreed the food was average. Another 20 minute wait for the table to be cleared during which time we did decide to go to the bar ourselves. For afters we had chocolate tort, sticky toffee pudding, chocolate brownie and a cheese board which everyone really enjoyed. It was definitely the best part of the meal! The table was cleared a bit quicker this tine but there was no offer of more drinks / coffees or the bill! So it was back to the bar again to settle up. Over all, not the best night I've had in the Duke William but it wouldn't stop me from going back because when it's good, it's really good!
Excellent food, great service. Definitely would return. The menu choice was fantastic could have chosen many different dishes. There was a nice bar area too.
Delicious food and exceptional service on a very busy Saturday evening. Well done, will definitely visit again. I had the muscles which were lovely, just the right quantity.
Very friendly attentive staff, nice cosy atmosphere, well prepared imaginative food. I will recommend this restaurant and come back next time I am in Lincoln.
Great atmosphere. Good food, good wine and excellent service. We have been here several times and always have a good meal. Plenty of choice too. Desserts are tasty.
Great service with even better food. If it's quality pub dining you're looking for at a very reasonable price don't look any further. Highly recommended.
Had a reservation for Sunday lunch. The food was excellent, staff were very friendly and the service was also excellent. Loved the decor too. Would definitely recommend to friends.
Great food, excellent service & lovely place. I would recommend the Duke William for a romantic dinner for two or a celebration with a larger group.
Had a great meal once again, brilliant food and excellent service!
The atmosphere was relaxed , the service was quick and most importantly the food was excellent with a good choice of dishes. I would recommend the Duke William.
Delicious food. Not long to wait before it arrived. Very good service from the staff and a very comfortable dining room. We shall certainly go back again. Thank you.
Lovely food and good service as usual. My favourite dessert sticky toffee pudding is delicious. The menu is varied and there is always something different to try.
we were seated in the back room near the kitchen, the smell of grease from the kitchen was awful so we asked to be moved, eventually we ate in the bar which was OK. Food was good (10% given off bill) drinks were pricy.
visited as a party of 6 last Friday lunchtime. Table was clearly marked with our name. Staff very friendly, love,y food, excellent value for money.
Amazing food and such a lovely pub. Specials were good. Pub quiz made acoustics difficult when trying to have conversation over dinner but that was later on and not the whole evening. Good night and love the new decor
Lovely old building , serving delicious well cooked food. Waiters were very polite and helpful, although a little erratic. We would certainly return. We could, however, do without the background music, which was loud enough to make conversation difficult and was irritating.
The meal we had on Saturday 14th May was excellent. The quality of the food was outstanding and the service was spot on. will go again.
First time we've eaten there since it has been totally refurbished. Very pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent, clever without being pretentious. Service wasalso really good, friendly adjust the right pace. Would heartily recommend.
The newly refurbished Duke William has been tastefully done. It's comfortable and well laid out while retaining the old character of the place. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The food was very tasty, I had the Sunday roast beef and it was cooked perfectly. The bar has a nice selection of beers, though their website said they hold Timmy Taylor Landlord on tap which isn't the case anymore. The Camden Pale ale I enjoyed was a good substitute and well keep to boot. Me and my family will return again.
An amazing meal at a very reasonable price for Sunday dinner. The staff were very friendly and helpful, a very unrushed and enjoyable meal. And I must give special mention to the tiramisu.
Lovely surroundings, friendly service, good menu choice, well presented excellent food. Would recommend evening meal to friends, and have yet to try lunchtime . Value for money.

It was pretty busy, but we were reserved a good table. Service was prompt. Food tasty, added bonus of not having to queue at the bar for drinks!
After really looking forward to visiting the Duke William, I left feeling slightly disappointed. The beer was warm and although the food was tasty, the size of the chicken dish in particular was too small
Went on a Saturday evening, service was friendly and professional. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the presentation, quality and portions were excellent. Definitely pleased we booked and have suggested going with some friends in a few weeks time, hope the food and service will be as good on our second visit.
The establishment itself is charming with very nice decor. The staff are excellent and attentive. However the food let them down, bread with olive oil dip was just chunks of white and brown bread and not particularly fresh with a small pot of very good oil and a dribble of balsamic vinegar. Lamb shank ok but turned out to be a dry meal poorly presented. A pity, maybe just a bad night in the kitchen and I would go again, the courtyard looked a nice place to sit on a warmer day.
Bland food Not a good sunday lunch experience Food didn't look freshly cooked. Facilities ok good choice of drinks but food let everything down so a low rating score
Great food, service and atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Had a lovely evening meal with a friend. Staff were attentive, happy and professional. I had steak which was cooked just right. Portion sizes good. Cheesecake for dessert was delicious.
Fantastic food in a great pub,the renovations are really impressive and the staff were really friendly and helpful, will certainly return!! Good selection of drinks aswell
Great atmosphere and good food. Nice friendly staff and good service. Will certainly recommend to our friends and will be going back there again soon.
For the price it was ok but had better locally cheaper. I found vegetables not very exciting and stuffing not very tasty. Yorkshire pudding and beef was fine.
Excellent food, beautifully presented. Lovely staff who were really friendly and helpful. Only two vegetarian choices was the only downside but they were delicious! Dog friendly bar!
Great service, food was good. We were a group of 9 and everyone of us enjoyed our food and appreciated the very attentive staff. Highly recommended
We booked for Sunday lunch as heared great reviews and was not disappointed with the food or service. Excellent food, great atmosphere and brilliant service.
Went with some friends and we all found the whole experience exceptional. The food choices and quality were excellent and the refurbishment very tastefully done. The staff are professional and friendly. We will return.
We had a very good meal all of our food was cooked brilliantly, and recommendations from the waitress were spot on. Service was good one waitress you could see didn't want to be there but everyone else chirpy and friendly
Great staff really friendly and really nice food, meal was relaxed and not rushed. After meal we could sit enjoy finishing out drinks with no pressure or expectation to free up out table.
This was our first visit , Sunday lunch, and we were pleasantly surprised. Very friendly , good service , food and ambiance . We will be going back .
Overall a very good experience with most welcoming staff and spotless ensuite room. Would certainly recommend this hotel which is well placed for the historic sites in Lincoln.
Staying at the Duke William was a lovely experience and very conveniently located. However the food was very hit and miss. Our starters were lovely. However the main course of fish and chips was a let down. From the outside the batter looked nice and crisp, but the fish had obviously been fried in very hot oil too quickly and for too short a time. Inside the batter was all woolly and soggy and the excess oil made the chips that were underneath very greasy. Despite the staff being lovely and attentive, it was hard to give the feedback at the time and no comment or concern was raised by them about the amount of food I left on my plate.
Fantastic stay, room was clean and comfortable, staff friendly. Will definitely be back. Be aware there is no lift and some rooms have a couple of level changes.
Excellent service, Excellent food, Lovely staff, Great prices. Lovely atmosphere with suitable lighting and nic nacs / pictures /artwork Just a wibbly wobbly table (which was sorted with a beer mat)!!!
