Food was good when it eventually arrived. There was six of us and we had to wait over an hour before it was served as there was another group booked in at the same time as us. The staff were very busy.

Relaxing evening for meal and drinks. We were sat in noisy part of restaurant due to large table next to us. Staff noticed and moved us to quieter part of restaurant. Fantastic service and would go back on next visit.

Lovely meal with excellent service. The lunchtime meal was to celebrate a 60th birthday and we’d brought a cake. The Duke William couldn’t have been more accommodating and the staff even joined in singing Happy Birthday. And they looked after the cake while we explored Lincoln. Happy to recommend to all.

Booked after finding the restaurant on trip advisor, and what a find it was. A packed bar and restaurant with a great buzz/atmosphere. The staff could not do enough for you, and nothing was too much trouble. The food, one word, excellent! didn’t think sausage and mash could taste so good...would highly recommend and would definitely eat there again. Booking advisable.

Attractive pub and nicely lit dining room. However we waited a long time for our meal - not sure how long but probably about 45 mins. One of the meals arrived incomplete so had to be sent back to kitchen. That meant we were eating our meals at different times. Staff very apologetic and knocked various things off the bill. This was very welcome and kind but at the end of the day we’d have preferred a pleasant meal.

We had a wonderful dining experience. The restaurant is cosy yet classy. My dog was also warmly welcomed with hugs from staff and a fresh bowl of water. At the bar the drinks selection was great, especially the gins. The food arrived swiftly and was a beautiful quality. All in all I superb experience and I will certainly me returning.

Great food and atmosphere. Bit slow in service but staff were really appreciative that we did not complain as it was a very busy night and they were quite rushed. We were quite happy sitting and chatting so we had a great night (again).

Atmosphere and staff/service very good. Specials Board selection sadly depleted due to "a very busy day"...which is understandable and at least shows the ingredients are fresh and not just hauled out of the freezer etc. But, more surprisingly, the 'Sausage and Mash" main course had also run out. Run out of Sausages in Lincolnshire? Surely that's treasonable? Of more import, the fish in my Fish & chips was not fully cooked and the batter not crisp, suggesting cool fat in deep fryer or too short cooking time. Section of raw fish didn't become apparent until almost finished. The fish was also the last portion. Mentioned to waitress and low-0level apology given. Not big points but took the icing off the experience at a place we have, until now, rated highly. Whilst moaning....could the menu be a little more adventurous, it just felt a tad staid. Maybe we were just having a bad night, but there is so much competition around The Bail' that we have come to expect better.

Have eaten in the restaurant before and found it good but not this time. Waitress left us standing in restaurant while she went to find out which table we were at, then came back with another group and dealt with them, the restaurant was otherwise empty so we sat at a nice table for two but the waitress said we couldn’t sit there and moved us to another empty table for two! Starter of mushrooms on toast, the toast was so hard my husband gave up with it. We both had steak but it was tough and lots of very chewy bits! Yuk! So think we were just unlucky on this occasion.

Staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent with no complaints (daily special of duck leg confit was the best I've had in years). Atmosphere was warm and inviting, and all house facilities very clean. To finish all menu prices were very affordable for a special occasion dining out with family.

The Duke William is a great place for a meal & a drink. Lunchtime or evening you always get a warm welcome, a great choice of real beers and a super menu. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food is first class. There are rooms available but not having tried these I wouldn't want to comment on these. If you are visiting the Cathedral quarter of Lincoln, this is ideal. Booking is advisable at weekends as the Duke is very popular.

Lovely place, delicious food and awesome staff! We were able to book a table the same day for a Sunday roast, and the experience could not have been any better. The Sunday roast options were very inclusive, and the remaining items on the menu we tried were equally great. I even ordered dessert after the roast, no matter how stuffed I felt already (piece of advice, try the three chocolate brownie, you will not be disappointed!). Staff was friendly, attentive and did not rush us at all, even though us Spaniards are known for making reeeeally long after lunch chats over coffee at the table. We will definitely go back if we visit Lincoln in the future, because this place is absolutely worth going up the hill! :)
