Fantastic visit, ambience is warm and friendly, especially with the log burner in the front room. Food was amazing and then the visit upstairs for the intimate classical gig was special : Return visits, both for the gigs and just the pub
Delicious food and great service. Would recommend to others! 😃
Third visit - food and service was great as always!
Relaxed pub style restaurant with good service and good food.
Been in a few times now. Great staff and food. That’s all you want
Had a lovely meal. We Decided on vegetarian starters. Both were delicious. Mines was Lebanese chickpea and aubergine with home made flatbread my wife chose the hummus with flatbread. For mains cottage pie made with ox cheek. It was amazing my wife had five spiced pork belly all washed down a few drinks. We will be back.
food wasnt the greatest- unlikely to be back in the future
Met my daughter's partner for dinner she has played a gig there and she recommended it. I really enjoyed the place thought the staff was friendly and made great cocktails. Good choice of food well prepared. Best hummous I had ever tasted anywhere in Britain Israel and the middle east and Greece.
Great place for a delicious refined vegetarian plate or a steak, nice and welcoming staff, cozy atmosphere
Great food and service. Cosy wee pub and our dog was made very welcome with water and biscuits
Superb food and service at a great price. Top Marks.
Enjoyed our Sunday roast; nice relaxing atmosphere and service! I like that dogs can come, too!
Excellent food and great service. And nice cosy restaurant and bar
Food was amazing and we had a little table in the beer garden in the sunshine! Service and people were great too!
Food was great the kid portions were perfect. They seated us right away and service was quick and friendly
Varied menu, food was excellent as was service. Was nice to be able to sit and chat with no background noise in relaxed setting. Definitely recommend.

Food fab prices good overall just fabulous I will be back
Nice atmosphere in cosy surroundings. Food and service was great too. Gives off a nice vibe like your out in the countryside when in fact your just outside the city centre.
Excellent Sunday roast, thoroughly enjoyed it. All 4 of us had the roast beef folllowed by chocolate tart, it was devine! Would highly recommend and we shall be back.
My family and I had a fabulous lunch and the food, staff, atmosphere were excellent. Definitely will be back. Love the fact you can bring your dog, a lovely family restaurant
Best Sunday lunch anyplace. Staff are incredibly nice and it’s a fab place for a family get together. Good location too, plenty of parking on a Sunday
Great service and wonderful food in a cosy atmoshphere. Very good selection of beers and spirits. The baked cod is fab and the portions certainly a match for a Hungry Horace.
Lovely food, excellent service, great surroundings! Would highly recommend a visit here, have visited before and will return again. Worth trying as I’m sure you’ll be impressed
Thoroughly enjoyed my night at the Drake, very friendly staff, excellent wine and good food. I would strongly recommend anyone to give it a try.
Really enjoyed the service, food and staff. The Sunday roast was delicious, well priced and readily available. Beer cold and not too expensive. Would highly recommend and come back!
Good food and excellent service. A little bit dark in bar and restaurant area! Other than that and proximity to bar users we found this to a pleasant place and very good value for money
Good food, friendly service. Reserved via quandoo very last minute but still ok and welcomed with kids.no separate kids menu, just smaller portions. Fish dishes were really good.
Second time at the Drake for a meal and excellent again. Each dish is well presented and full of flavour. If you are looking for a quiet romantic location with great food ambience and service, look no further, well done.
Best Roast Dinner I ever had and the hospitality was brilliant, Angus And the staff were very welcoming and helpful, the Restaurant / Bar was great will be back again soon for much more food and drink
Nice atmosphere. Friendly service. Reasonably priced. Cool staff and we asked for slightly off menu (Caesar Salad for main) and nothing too much hassle. We are going back.
Staff nice and attentive. Food very good. For what is reasonable pub food it’s too expensive and £5 for a pint! We enjoyed our meal but the venue doesn’t merit high prices
my partner & i had a superb sunday roast here - he had chicken while i had beef, and both were excellent! took our little pup along & they could not have been more accommodating, despite her endless enthusiasm for tearing up & down the restaurant! the friendliest staff & nice laid back vibe. will definitely be back soon!
Very friendly cosy place to be on a cold winters day. I was impressed by our starters, and the quality and choice available. We will definitely be back
We were there on a snowy Sunday afternoon Nice food (Sunday roast), good atmosphere. Busy in spite of the weather. Family feel to the clientele. Friendly staff.
I chose the Drake because of the great experience I have had in the past and wanted somewhere for a family pre Christmas get together before my husband and I left for Australia. Decided to go for the Sunday roast as they are legendary. Roasts advertised on the website as on the menu from 1-9 on Sundays. Arrived to a cold and frankly unchristmassy venue. Ordered drinks - as designated driver I ordered fresh orange and lemonade. Only for the waitress to return and say there was no lemonade (there is a supermarket across the road! surely they could have bought a few bottles???). drinks delivered and we were asked if we would pay for them then and there - had already said we were waiting for other guests to arrive and we would decide if we would eat from the regular menu. Gave our order for food. I ordered fillet steak instead. Waitress returned to say there was no steak! Meanwhile my husband went to the fire to put coal and wood on it as it was very low - the place was freezing - only for the (I suppose) duty manager to rush up and demand that he stop what he was doing as the fire was too smoky! He and a member of staff then had a rather uncomfortable exchange and he proceeded to bang chairs around! Having cancelled the food order (immediately on being told there was no steak) we decided enough was enough and made to leave. The 'duty manager' came up and apologised. When I suggested they make their website clearer to reflect the potential lack of availability of said roast he became very defensive said the website did not state they were available 1 - 9. His attitude was very poor to say the least. Thankfully the waitress was very good and extremely apologetic. I have never had to write such a negative review of anywhere - never mind somewhere I thought had an excellent reputation. Never again - ruined what should have been a lovely family gathering.
Head chef changed within the last two weeks and the menu on the website had not been updated to the new one so we were a bit disappointed to find that we weren’t able to order what we hoped. We also found out at 7pm on a Saturday night that they had ran out of steak which seems far too early for peak season, this was disappointing.
Gastro pub with great atmosphere, excellent food and good staff. Pork Belly was superb as was the filo pastry dish. We had sticky toffee pudding and cheese and oatcakes to finish. Will be back.
