Great atmosphere warm fire great food at a good price!
Excelent food drinks and service in a lovely village pub. Recomended to all.
Lovely staff, great atmosphere, delicious food with generous portions. Would definitely go again.
Lovely food and wine, very well looked after by Andy!
We were looked after by Alex. It’s been a long time since someone has taken such good care of us. And the food from your new chef was amazing! We will be back!
There was no roast that day and for no reason they also didn’t have any crumble or chocolate cake (which are pretty staple desserts). We got there at 12.30 so they didn’t run out and didn’t bother to have another offer. Staff nice but absolutely clueless. Food ok but expensive and unremarkable. Overall pretty disappointing
Very Friendly and good value for money give it a go
We were really looking forward to our visit to the Dog & Pheasant, we had a vegetarian visitor from London with us and we wanted to show her a lovely traditional country pub. We had checked the menu from our usual favourites, and chose the Dog & Pheasant. We were handed menus, but when we came to order two of us were told our choices were not available (why didn’t you tell us that earlier). That effectively took out a quarter of the menu! The alternatives we ordered - the lasagne was not seasoned so lacked taste (I would have added pepper but the shaker was not working properly) - the veggie burger was also very plain. Very disappointed. ☹️
A great welcome and very helpful service. All the food was very well prepared ( if even too plentiful!) This is the fourth time that we have been there recently as a family (last two time + dog) and each time it has been really good.
Great service. Good pub lunch for 4 at reasonable price.
Food and service were OK but the whole place is dirty and tired
Food cold, vegetables poorly cooked, meat stringy, chewy. Will not return nor recommend this place
Friendly staff, good service, enjoyable food. Standard stays high. Will return.
Had a great meal sat in the garden. We were early and so had the place to ourselves. Food was excellent
Nice welcome, comfortable environment, good real ales, well prepared food if somewhat limited menu.
Great service; decent food. Liked to have tipped in cash.
Pub serving very good quality food set in old english country country side
Very good meal and friendly staff Thank you … we will be back again! Angie and Steve
Staff a bit knackered mostly untrained young boys. Chef overheard saying don’t take any more orders because I am fucking tired. Quite a few complaints as most choices gone. Burger actually very nice. Possibly text if no food so we could’ve gone somewhere else. Manager good in v difficult circumstances. All likely due to weather being better than expected.
Lovely location and views. Burger was good. Salad for scampi and chips was off. Service was very poor.
We had a fabulous evening. The food was delicious and the gentleman who was looking after us was extremely helpful, very friendly and made the experience really wonderful. He was navigating some upcoming menu changes so explained that was the reason a few things weren’t available but there were still plenty of delicious options. We’ll definitely be back.
The staff are so accommodating at The Dog and Pheasant. We were delayed by an hour due to car trouble but that was not a problem at all. All the staff are so friendly and the food is great too !
This is one of the few places my 94 year old dad can be coaxed out to - he's got fairly complex dietary needs but the chef accommodated him at short notice, and all of the staff are wonderfully accommodating with him. Another great evening.
It was very tasty! Can’t comment enough how nice our meals were!, I can’t believe the portion sizes especially for kids!
Food took a long time to come Seemed short staffed and stressed Food ok but nothing special for the price - won’t be returning
Good meal with delicious food and excellent wine. The pub could do with more parking as had to park 5 minutes walk from the pub.
We were sat beside the kitchen so could see clearl into it. The floor was a disgrace with food all over it. 2 meals cam out missing states ingredients on the menu, to be honest the veggie burger looked appallingly sad. No avocado on ceasar salad and chicken over cooked. Wouldn’t go again
We visited after a long journey and were hungry. The front of the house was welcoming, but the food was terrible. The potatoes, unpeeled and as hard as rocks, and the vegetables lacked both colour and taste, appearing withered. Additionally, the gravy was just Bisto.
We were excited about going as the reviews were great. Our burgers were OK, lettuce leaves were huge, and burgers kept sliding off the bun. We didn’t receive all of the ingredients mentioned on the menu. Puddings were very expensive and the affogato was a complete disappointment.
We enjoyed being back in the atmospheric pub! Thank you
Loud music on arrival. Service and food OK.Little imagination with menu. Parking good.
First time we have visited since Mark took over, and we were not disappointed. Warm welcome, delicious food and, with children’s meals costing £1 until 12th April, excellent value
Good service, the food was good but had to return one meal as the potatoes weren't cooked. Dealt with efficiently and the meals were lovely. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and nice pub 🙂
Ordered fish and chips- fish was uncooked,& returned while my friend had almost eaten hers, before my food returned ( now cooked). Was told I wouldn’t be charged for that meal, which I wasn’t. At the end, The waiter took and zapped my card for contactless transaction before I could check the amount on the mobile device. When I checked the receipt I realise I had been overcharged and had to be refunded. A disaster for what should have been a treat for my friend’s birthday. Avoid !!
Lovely friendly staff and great food. Dog friendly too. Good location for a walk before or after your meal.
This wasn’t our best visit to the Dog and Pheasant. The Sunday Lunch menu was limited and the food was just ok.
Lovely food. Very very friendly staff! Worth a visit. Will definitely be going back.
Our order was incorrect and when corrected, the starter was not good. It was very dry as though overcooked and looked unappetising. The atmosphere in The Dog & Pheasant is always pleasant with the open fire lit making it a cosy venue. Not sure I would want to eat there again at any time soon however.
Delicious food and great service, a really nice evening had by all
Really lovely meal - food was delicious and all fresh, hot and served quickly. Staff were lovely - it was our server's first day and he did a really great job (possibly called Andrew??) Will definitely be back to dine in or have a takeaway
Fantastic Sunday roast. Beautiful location, lovely staff - highly recommend!
Friendly and attentive service from the staff and tasty food.
Sadly we went on a Tuesday night and were told they they only do pies on Tuesday which we had not been told. I have since looked at the website and this is not listed under 'Menus' but under 'Events'. This is the second that that this has happened - last time it was a very limited menu as the chef was away. This sort of information needs to be on the opening page of a website to avoid disappointment for customers.
Menu was unexciting but I enjoyed what I chose. Especially the crumble!
Charming staff who although it was very busy were polite and helpful and looked after our small person perfectly
Excellent food and very good, polite and prompt service. They could not have been more charming. I would certainly recommend this pub.
We arrived early for lunch and enjoyed a good meal in front of a roaring open fire. Most enjoyable, even the background music was of our era.
Had lunch here with a colleague yesterday. First time I have been here and was a bit put off by the outside which needs some TLC e.g. clearing up the dead leaves and filling the potholes in the car park. However, once inside we received a very friendly welcome. The service and the food were first class. I shall be back.
Sadly our waitress appeared to be new as she muddled which beers were available, when I asked what ginger drinks they had she offered me alcohol free gin, she told me the beef burger wasn't available when it was. She appeared new and lacking in confidence, and as a result the service was awkward. I would have been happier if she'd actually said 'sorry I'm new I'll check'. She could write a note of the meals and beers that aren't available and clip it to her order pad. Food was great.
All OK, good food and efficient service. Will be back
