If it was our first visit today we probably wouldn’t return as the food wasn’t very good. The food we have had on previous visits was much better, in both taste and presentation.

We had expected an early ‘specials’ menu, however that was not the case, so it was slightly disappointing in that respect.

Beef was a bit chewy. Asked for coffee outside but felt embarrassed when made to pay the bill at the counter before I could get my elderly parents seated. I felt like I was under suspicion of trying to leave without paying. Apart from that food was delicious and service was exceptional

Very pleasant lunchtime stop (the first since the renovations) and suitably impressed with the new decor. Good service from a nice obliging staff and decent food, though perhaps lacking an inclusive extra feature without having to order as an extra (needs an additional veg on the plate as standard) and the sweets are perhaps a little overpriced (as are main courses depending on choice) but then commensurate with the surroundings? Would visit again sometime, for sure and would be content to recommend.

Excellent food, enjoyed by all our group. Our visitors from Australia were particularly happy with the quality. Service was also very good and staff friendly and helpful.

Around a year after a major refit, the Devonport is finding it’s way with menus for what works in this village location with a stunning view over the river Tees. The menu is on it’s second iteration at present and fish and chips , fish curry and beef shin pie seem firm favourites. We had fish pie and crusted fish fillet and enjoyed both. Daily specials and a Sunday carvery choice both feature.

Lovely staff, friendly and helpful, very spacious, the tables are spaced so you don't feel Like you are dinning with the next table. Prices were reasonable, nice selection on the menu and added specials. If I had one slight complaint. Desserts!!! Looked Like they had been bought in. Not made on the premises, but we’re still nice 🤗

Took advantage of the 2 cod and chips for £15 deal. Food was beautifully cooked, well presented and came very quickly. The refurbished restaurant gives a much nicer feel and atmosphere to the place with very attentive but unobtrusive staff

Nice atmosphere and good service but only one vegetarian choice (Sunday menu). Food was average and some portions are very small (beef shin and suet pie). Chef unable to adapt a dish at request.

we had a lovely Sunday lunch in chic surroundings . Tables nicely spaced , so despite being busy , you didn’t feel squashed and bothered by noisy neighbours
