The Coconut Tree - Oxford

Tasty and interesting food from Sri Lanka served tapas style from the smiling staff. The decor and ambience are attractive and homey, the drinks are imaginative and the atmosphere is fun. Will come back when in Oxford.

Fantastic welcome, menu explained and the cocktails and then range of dishes and tastes were wonderful. Great service and attention from Vicky.

The food at The Coconut Tree is out of this world with every dish being more delicious than the last. We ordered a huge amount of the menu and polished off almost everything as it really was amazing. The waiting on staff were all really lovely and very knowledgeable and really added to the experience. Our one minor criticism is that the music was far too loud. We had trouble hearing each other at our table of 5 and the music was heavily hip hop, rap and RnB based so was thumping. My husband actually came away with a headache as it was so loud! Just turning the dial down one or two notches would have ensured that we stayed for another drink to chat and would have made for a far more pleasant atmosphere.

Delicious food! Service could be improved as there were no napkins and had to remind waiters for tap water and plates.

Over 40mins to take order, almost an hour to get drinks, food 1 and 1/4 hours. Service very slow had to get up to ask for things. Portion size tiny. I order d prawn rice and literally only had 2 prawns in the portion. When we politely complained at end - they still charged us the full amount. Will not be returning.

We had a great time at The Coconut Tree in Oxford! Dru, our waiter, was really attentive, the food came out really quickly and was absolutely delicious. Can't wait to go back!

This was the best Sri Kankan food we have had in the UK! Tasted so authentic, the staff were amazing at explaining the menu, the menu was brilliant and had everything you could want. Also we love the option to have the recommendations for £25 per person if you can’t decide. Thank you so much and we can’t wait to return

The food was pretty good and the atmosphere is fine, if a bit noisy. The service is okay but a little slow and inattentive. We usually enjoy it much more here, but the food was much spicier than usual, which made it less fun. The food is still good and it was maybe an off day - we usually enjoy The Coconut Tree very much, but it wasn't up to scratch on this occasion.

We were a party of 10, with children. The food was wonderful, tasty and we loved the tapas style sharing. Some of the meat dishes were quite spicy for the kids but perhaps we didn’t read the menu carefully enough. The mocktails were great and generous sizes. The only thing we wouldn’t order again are the desserts! It was a busy night in the restaurant so the service/food was a bit slow to start with but the staff were friendly and accommodating. We’ll definitely be back!

The food was excellent and our waiter was extremely helpful at guiding our choices. The mushroom dish was amazing. The hoppers were enjoyable. The goat curry and the cashew dish were also delicious. The music was a bit intrusive which somewhat hampered the atmosphere for us.

Such a tasty lunch...fully vegetarian and vegan spread. Really great food.

The food was absolutely delicious. However we waited 45 minutes before someone took our food order, my husband had to ask at that point if someone could take the order. Also the music was soooo loud! I get it's a hip place but everyone in there has met up with people to chat and eat not dance and it was hard to hear one another talk!! Sorry to moan. But food was so so good.

First of all our server was amazing! She was very attentive, friendly and polite, the food was delicious and very authentic, my mums Srilankan so she knows her stuff. The only reason I don’t give the highest mark was that we waited a bit for sides that were to accompany other dishes that came earlier. We do love this place and it’s definitely a favourite place to come for a social gathering. Highly recommended 😄

We had a fantastic meal, the food was delicious with much care taken with our various dietary requests. We really appreciated the 'can't decide' option where you have a variety of dishes. Will definitely recommend and come again. Their passionfruit mojito was the best one I've ever had!

Very welcoming atmosphere and environment, high quality dishes with non-standard range. Cocktails original too. Tried with the 50% promotion. The same meal at 100% would perhaps have been a bit overpriced
