Food was delicious and service great. Special mention to the limoncello cheesecake which was delicious!

I had the open chicken and leek pie. It was lovely. The red cabbage is to die for. Wished I asked for the recipe. I would certainly recommend this place to friends and family.

Not the first time we have visited this pub/restaurant for Sunday lunch and once again we were not disappointed. The interior design of the pub is very smart and trendy as well.

We obviously came in at the wrong time as ended up waiting what felt like 5 minutes in the middle of the restaurant so our first greeting of this restaurant wasn't the most welcoming. Perhaps a reserved with your name on the table so you can at least sit down. Food was great but pricing was top end, perhaps a 2 or 3 course price offer would encourage more to partake

First visits, very welcoming and attentive barman down to remembering on second visit what our drinks order was from previous nights visit. Food was very nice on both visits. If back in the area will definitely return.

If there was a 6th Star this place would have got it! Absolutely superb! Not only outstanding hospitality from the owner himself but the food was of the highest standard. Fresh, hot and tasty. What a find in the Newark area. Beautifully renovated village pub to the highest standard. And a bonus that nothing is over priced… How lucky if this was your village local!!

Food was amazing and staff were very friendly. The pub is absolutely lovely and decorated very nicely for Christmas.

There was a festive menu and a few items menu (fish and chips and burgers) but we did fancy either so the server asked the chef if they'd do us two pies, which they did. Freshly prepared with some christmas veg which was lovely.

This was our first time for Sunday lunch and was very impressed by how beautiful the dining room was . The Christmas tree was huge and very pretty . The food was amazing and the staff were very good at their jobs. Overall super happy and we will be returning.

We enjoyed Sunday lunch in the upstairs restaurant which is beautifully furnished and plenty of space between tables. We were well looked after by the staff including George who is always delightful. The meal was first class, really nicely presented and great quality. Excellent all round. Would highly recommend.

Not much atmosphere, would have preferred to be downstairs. Waiter was pleasant. Sunday dinner only ok, Yorkshire pudding like cardboard and cold. Only 3 desserts to choose from. All in all wont rush to come again.

Sunday lunch - wonderful atmosphere at The Chequers today for Sunday Lunch. We all had roasts - mine a Brazilian Nut roast. We were made welcome by all the staff. Lovely occasion for the four of us.
