Food was great and all servers were kind and friendly.
I hadn't visited this restaurant before so as a first time 'visitor' I had a very enjoyable dinner with my friend and really liked the look and feel of the restaurant. The staff were lovely, the service was good and the food was very good.
The atmosphere was really nice. We sat on the upper area of the basement made us feel as if we were in New York.
Amazing food and our server was absolutely lovely!! Amazing evening and will defo be back next trip to Edinburgh! Awesome guys!! Ronnie & Guy x
Amazing food, drinks and service. Definitely something worth visiting when in Edinburgh!
Excellent staff, the food was absolutely fantastic. I shall recommend it.
Amazing food and great service. Will definitely be back again.
Food was amazing, every course was delicious. Was the culinary highlight of our trip to Edinburgh for sure!
Fabulous. Delicious food and lovely staff. Great variety of drinks to.
It was great. The only thing we would change is it gets very warm in the little alcove seating areas. But the food and the service were fantastic.
Very friendly service and great Scottish food. One comment from our group is that the burger was very dry, without much flavour and overcooked, but all other dishes were well received.
Unfortunately there is no draught beer. The food was satisfactory, the music a bit monotonous.
We wait for our meals about an hour even if the restaurant wasn’t full. People who arrived after us was serve before. The foid was ok, not delicious, just ok. I think they forget our command because my risotto was not well cook.
Our waitress (unfortunately we didn't get her name) was exceptional and really made Joanne's birthday meal very special including a candle on her Cranachan and everyone singing happy birthday. We would serviously recommend the Scottish taster meal ... absolutely fabulous. Great place, great food and fantastic customer service.... A must place to eat if you are in Edinburgh.
Leckeres Essen, tolle Location (im Untergeschoss) und sehr netter Service!! Wir würden sofort wieder kommen!
All good maybe the lighting could be a bit better but overall , lovely and the food was lovely, highly recommend the Haggis.
Excellent food and nice atmosphere will definitely visit again 👍
Excellent service. great Scottish products surprisingly difficult to find. Food was cooked to perfection very quaint and homely restaurant would recommend to anyone
Fabulous food and service and great recommendations for food and drink!
Lovely service, truly excellent food and good value for money
Been in the restaurant several times it’s always good food good service and friendly staff
Lovely service and great food. Would definitely go back and recommend.
Food was very good although we were a little disappointed that the Taste of Scotland 2019 menu was not offered. It was very busy and noisy but only to be expected in August! Service was excellent- very, very pleasant young lady.
We had booked on the set menu but had to ask for it. Three of us had our main meals for sometime before the other member finally received theirs. Food was just ok. The waitress was very nice.
Great staff and amazing food on the Scottish tasting menu. Definitely recommend
Great place to eat in Edinburgh with a warm atmosphere and friendly staff. Excellent Scottish food with a modern twist for some dishes- will definitely return!
Prebooked, so no waiting. A quiet corner, so noise not an issue. Staff were excellent.
Ordered bread (an extra) which we asked for 3 times and eventually cancelled. Fish cake starters were bland. Risotto main was tasteless and looked unappetising - there was little fish and far too much potato, and rice was overcooked. We fed this back at the time. Picpoul wine was OK but not a patch on the same type elsewhere for less money.
Good food, lovely friendly service. Excellent lunch venue away from the bustle.
Food and drink menu not much of a selection, toilet facility very poor albeit they had plumbing problems.
This was a return visit to the Cellar Door as we found it last year during our Fringe Festival visit. The food is delicious, staff are lovely & atmosphere is great. We will visit again next year & any other time we are in Edinburgh.
Great service and the food was amazing. Booked this restaurant by chance as attending a fringe show close by. What a find, will definitely be back.
An enjoyable evening and meal, thank you we will return
Brief visit before theatre but service was fast and food good. Would visit again when we can linger a bit longer.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Highly recommended. Hope to visit ahain
Poor service. Food good but pricey.will not be returning. CullenSkink rissotto lacked flavour.
Good food, friendly service and an enjoyable evening. I would recommend it
The food doesnt resemble what they portray on the website. Wouldnt have gone if known.
I had booked a table for 4 at this restaurant > 5 weeks ago, to meet friends who had travelled from afar, at no point in the booking process was I told this was a 2 hour booking. 1 hour 20mins into our meal, I suggested we would like a rest before looking at the desert menu, and was told that this would not be possible as the table was needed for a further booking "quite soon." A second server came to speak to us, who suggested that all bookings were for 2 hours max, this was not mentioned at time of booking or indeed on website. After further discussion with staff we agreed to move to an alternative table to complete our meal. My husband and I are Scottish, and eat regularly in Edinburgh, we are not one off visitors, and were quite embarrassed at this scenario involving our guests who had travelled to the city.
We had a lovely dinner here. Cheerful and attentive wait staff, delicious food ( lamb - melt in the mouth good), and great atmosphere in a sweet hide-away.
Lovely staff and great service. Wonderful food and a nice cosy shelter from the rain!
Excellent meal, very good welcome, a very good typically Scottish restaurant in Edinburgh
The staff were lovely and very attentive Menu choice could be increased .
Intimate restaurant who coped with a very busy night excellently. Despite having large tables in they still attended excellently to the tables of two like us and our food was delicious, hot and prompt. The heirloom tomato salad was great.
Yet another fantastic visit to Cellar Door, one of our favourite restaurants in Edinburgh.
The service was great and the food was even better!
This was a good place to meet up with friends we hadn't seen for a while, not too noisy, so we were able to chat. The menu wasn't as extensive as I'd remembered, but we all found something that we enjoyed and the staff could accommodate a gluten free choice.
Very nice experience. Restaurant was just getting busy when we left. Therefore had full attention of staff, very nice ambience and food and wine was lovely.
Great service and very pleasant downstairs cellar. Thank you. P
Good foods with nice atmosphere and kind staff. I liked it.
