Great service and fantastic food. We tried the vegetarian taster menu with different wines - absolutely brilliant experience! Highly recommend this restaurant for visitors to Edinburgh.
Great Food and Service. We will definitely be going back.
Excellent service and wonderful food. We would definitely go again
Honestly nothing too impressive and slightly over priced Undeniably steak and hand cut chips were nice, and really substantial. Portion size was good and wait staff was friendly, helpful
Lovely food. Great staff and a lovely atmosphere. we will be back … and soon.
Lovely service and amazing food. Relaxing dining, in this super wee restaurant
I originally booked for 4, not realising we would be 6, but tables were quickly rearranged for us and we had a nice quiet corner to relax in. The food and wine were all delicious, especially the sea trout with curried mussels and the venison. It's a little on the expensive side, but perfect for what was a special occasion meeting up with old friends up for the weekend. The staff were great, nothing was too much trouble and were very obliging.
An absolutely glorious meal , recommend the tasting menu with the wines ….. delicious and great staff……a hidden gem .
Lovely experience , staff were great , freindly and amazing food , I'm a big eater , there could have been more
Visited for the first time for our wedding anniversary. Staff were really lovely and welcoming. We chose the 6 course tasting menu and my husband had the paired wines. Food was excellent and my husband said the wines went well. The haggis course was both our favourites, It was amazing. I have to be honest though the pork main dish was a little dry and for that reason it wasn’t perfect. It wouldn’t put me off and we will return and I recommend to others to try. At £49 for a 6 course tasting menu great value.
Extremely small portions, overall bland flavours, very disappointing, staff were very good.
All the staff were lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful. Both me and my mum loved our visit and will be recommending it to our friends and family
Our food was delicious, innovative and interesting. Service was exceptional. A meal to remember.
Lovely food and friendly attentive staff. Good value for money
Fantastic service, fantastic food, no more needs to be said
Thoroughly enjoyed the evening, the food was delicious and the staff were very friendly
Friendly helpful staff Amazing tasting menu Fabulous food and service
Lovely venue. Really nice staff. Very tasty food. Would go back.
Very good waiting service from Sophie, Charlotte and Lydia - thank you!
Warm welcome, tasty food, wines and amazing service. Fantastic experience.
We had an amazing tasting meal at The Cellar Door. Lorna, Sophie and Lydia looked after us and cared that we enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommended this place
Lovely atmosphere. Delicious food and pairing wines. Attentive and friendly staff.
Loved every minute of our visit. Felt personally attended to, quick service. Gorgeous setting. Food top notch as where our cocktails. Made my husband birthday a special occasion. Will be back next time we visit Edinburgh x x
We arrived a bit early and were easily accommodated and once seated provided with our menus. The options were clearly explained to us and we were left to make our decisions whilst the member of staff got our prosecco. As this was a tasting menu, there was no choice but that did not at all detract from our experience. The food was lovely and service excellent, no rush between courses and always asked if we wanted to wait a few minutes between each course. I elected for the wine pairing, the Katherine Hills, Shiraz was lovely. This was a lovely meal and worth a visit.
Gorgeous taster menu in a beautiful location. Easy to find and very easy to access if you are staying in town.
lovely place and amazing atmosphere. wasn't high up on the beetroot starter - it's mainly just chopped beetroot! but the mains were superb and after a yr with no steak that was worth the wait - yum :)
We enjoyed being able to return for a meal. Lovely meal and some of the staff the same
We booked early, 6pm, and it was quite quiet so not the usual buzz of chatter. Not the restaurant’s fault! We visit twice a year as we visit Edinburgh twice a year. It was great to see they had survived Covid, same owner, friendly and made to feel very welcome. Thank you.
Food was delicious. I had the Taster menu as a special treat and can thoroughly recommend. Everyone is incredibly friendly, great ambience, oh yes, they are also dog friendly for those accompanied by four legged friends.
Great food and excellent service. Would visit again. Great atmosphere.
Amazing evening at The Cellar Door. Food and service was perfect. Really made our Anniversary celebration really special👍😁
Cosy and friendly restaurant. The food was delicious. we loved the having vegetarian and vegan tasting menu options. The drinks pairing was also fantastic, the wines really went well with the various courses.
Outstanding food and service , our server Charlotte was a star
lovely evening at Cellar door, as it was busy they forgot to bring the drinks pairing with our first 3 courses but when we pointed out the error and said they could bring all the drinks out at once they obliged. The staff were fantastic and still smiling even though it was a very busy evening .
Great food. Had the Taste of Scotland set menu and very good value. Lydia the waitress was very nice and attentive.
Food was good but over priced and portion sizes were small .
An excellent visit. The staff were wonderful, they gave a friendly and individual service. I felt looked after and that they cared. The food was spotless, still thinking about it 24 hours later. I highly recommend.
Excellent meal. Restaurant busy (maybe too busy for the level of staff).
Great service and quality food for a reasonable price. Would recommend the 6 course “taste of Scotland” both veggie and non-veggie
Simply amazing. From booking to the meal itself, can't say thank you enough Staff were amazing and knowledgeable, food was out of this world. Chose the drinks pairing and it complimented the food perfectly. Would go back tomorrow if I could. Definitely a highlight of our trip
Yes visited the cellar door 3 times this year. Will return Thank You Quandoo
We both enjoyed our meal staff very friendly we have another booking this e5
Will be going back at some point staff very helpful and polite
Food was ok, but was expecting a la carte with the high priced menu, but it didn’t match. The quality was in the main ok but quantity poor. Staff very nice and excellent service. Would expect a little bit more for the money.
After a tough year this little restaurant is probably in need of a makeover, however the food more than makes up for the decor.Visited as an anniversary meal and different from our experiences in England the Scots don't seem to give any complimentary free touches. Overall though definitely recommended.
Great wee find food fantastic staff brilliant you must try it
Really good meal, restaurant and service well worth a visit.
Food and staff were amazing! We were there from Ayrshire for a small celebration and everything was just perfect. I had been before and really enjoyed it, so I knew it would be a great choice. We will be back.
I didnt realise how pretty the Cellar Door would be! I was amazed at the ambience and most especially the food. My husband and I both had the customisable lunch sets and the portions were spectacular. The mussels were a highlight. I would definitely return.
Food drinks and service was great can’t fault them I’ll be back
