Food is ok. Staff are friendly but service is quite slow. Only cash payment is accepted if you use their online Quandoo booking. The 10% service charge is included in the bill.
Sichuan Folk is one of my favourite restaurants. I've been with very large groups and small groups and the food and service are always spectacular.
Rice per person, not by bowl. An important factor for me. Can definitely recommend the "mao xue wang", not for the faint hearted, but it is really good.
Hot pot was great. Really nice and social way to eat a meal with friends. Service was a bit chaotic though...
We've lived in London for the past 3 years, and been back to this restuarant so many times, more than any other restuarant we've discovered. We always get the signature dumplings to start and twice cooked pork as a main, along with another different dish to try each time we go. Those dishes keep on bringing us back, they are so delicious. The staff are nice and friendly. The restuarant has been refurbished since we first started going, but it's still got that traditional feel.
The food was good and served in good time. I would recommend it to other guests as a nice place to come eat. It was a not loud so you could hear yourself speak. But please do read the small print as bookings online must be paid via cash
The first time we had tried Chinese food from the Sichuan region. It was spicy but very tasty. One slight negative I would say is that we found the food to be extremely oily but it could just have been the food we ordered. I stress a slight because I did enjoy the food and the staff were friendly and it was a nice atmosphere to dine in.
One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. I've been coming here for several years and it's consistently good. It's not universally super spicy and vegetarian dishes are done with as much flair as the meaty dishes so veggies won't feel let down. My top tip is rather than looking at the menu, just tell them what you like (or don't like) and ask them to choose for you.
Delicious, original menu and very reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We went on a Saturday night and the restaurant was lively, noisy and a bit hot. Looking forward to returning.
Excellent choice of food with helpful staff made for a great meeting with friends. Service was professional and nothing too much trouble. Make sure you have cash to settle the bill.
Lovely staff ..always friendly for a chinese restaurant. Food amazing. The cumin lamb and the boiled fish are fantastic. I been trying other sichuan places but this is still the best
Overall, tasty food, relatively authentic while also having some fusion style dish and importantly, reasonable prices, I'd be happy to recommend it. In particular, the pig ear cold starter and one of the duck/lettuce/bun mains (can't recall the exact name) were both delicious.
Interresting food. Loved the mixed starter. Good service. Nice atmosphere. Some food a bit greasy but I think that may be authentic. Give it a go
Gret food and atmosphere, waiters very helpful and reccommended dishes. Takes card and is easy to find, great place to go with a big group and share dishes
Great food and location, one of the better places around the tourist brick lane area. Just remember to bring cash - they don't take cards and all the cashpoints close by charge!
Really good, unique Chinese restaurant - not your usual menu so don't come for sweet and sour! Really tasty food though, and staff incredibly helpful. Beware over ordering!
Tasty food, served quickly, but what really made the meal was the friendliness and courtesy of the young waiter, who gave good advice on portion sizes and combinations of food.
Very helpful staff. The food was excellent, very different from the usual Chinese menu in London, interesting and good value for money. Note that the restaurant does not accept credit cards, cash only.
Very friendly staff. We had hotpot half and half. Taste was good, but many ingredients were still frozen on the table, I did not like that very much. I lived in Sichuan for several years and like the hotpot really hot, this one was rather mild. I was missing the authentic dipping made of sesame oil, oyster sauce, garlic and spring onions and some typical ingredients like tripe. We paid 90 pounds for three persons.
we eat well good. the service was friedndly. next time i com to london, i go to eat there againe. thank you and see you
The food was amazing and the service was wonderful. Very friendly and great recommendations! We will definitely go back next time we are in London.
Excellent food, good service. Start with the appetiser platter to get things going on the right note, before moving onto the very extensive menu. Sichuan Folk and its sister restaurant, Xi'an Impression, are two of my favourite Chinese restaurants in London.
Great food and really helpful, friendly service. This is probably the best Chinese food I've eaten in London – really fresh with subtle but distinctive seasoning. Well priced too. Will be back very soon!
A safe go-to for delicious, authentic Sichuan food and friendly service. The level of spice and tingling (from the Sichuan pepper) was just right - we'll definitely be back for more!
Very good authentic Sichuan restaurant. Best I have had in London area. Love the chilli beef and cold dishes. Definitely I will go again. Good service as well
This is a great little Schezuan restaurant In Hanbury Street. I've been going regularly now for about 3 years and the food is always amazing. Just thinking about gets my tastebuds going. The staff are so helpful and will always explain a dish and, for first-timers, they will recommend a couple of dishes that compliment each other. Their signature dumplings are the best I've ever tasted.
Very authentic and delicious Sichuan food, served in a non-pretentious, understated, but comfy setting. Staff were efficient and polite, and the prices reasonable - be warned, the mains portions are generous! Would definitely return!
Solid Sichuan food. Heavy on chillies and offal. Go for the boiled fish dish and ma po tofu and prepare to sweat! Lots of Tsing Tao required!
Really tasty, although I was rather intimidated by some of the reviews - in terms of the heat ! Taking my relatively soft palated dining partner with me, we both enjoyed the meal tremendously - sufficient heat, but lots of flavour. Our only regret was the portion sizes - if they were smaller we could have selected more items from the menu. Never mind, we'll be back soon.
Great, simple Chinese restaurant. I'd recommend the Gong Bao chicken and and the twice cooked pork, Staff are almost all very helpful and will carefully recommend dishes for you.
Really delicious food. Not your typical menu. Will always go here for Chinese food as opposed to going into a China Town. The service here is also attentive.
Food was very good and good service as well. But we Had to pay with cash which was not very convenient. Overall, would go there again.
Great food, excellent service, pleasant atmosphere, very reasonable prices, one of the best Chinese restaurants we have eaten in, we will definitely be back. Highly recommended
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner Sichuan Folk. There was a bit of a wait while they prepared our table, but it wasn't too long. The staff were great - very friendly and helpful. The food was authentic (if a little oily, which is not unusual) but the overall experience for myself and my guests was very enjoyable. I would gladly go back
The real deal. Damn fine food and staff. Believe the hype and go and enjoy some of the best Chinese food in the UK. You won't be disappointed.
Food was on point. The twice cooked pork is to die for, the green beans with pork is also a good choice. Service was second to none. I will definitely be back.
I am a repeating customer. I love them, as they service lovely food and their service is always pleasant. In addition, the price is very reasonable.
The food was very fresh and tasty. Very tempting menu (we over ordered) The staff were very helpful and friendly Highly recommended gem just off brick lane
For those looking for authentic mainland Chinese style food (Sichuan) in London try this out. For those who know regional differences in China this is one of the few restaurants in London withh authentic offerings
Very tasty, and unusual because authentic Chinese food. Very friendly staff and great recommendations from the owner. Nice mixture of food that are great for beginners and original Chinese specialties, something is there for everyone.
