Fabulous food - very tasty & great choice. Service was very friendly & efficient. Will go back.

Superb food and service. Really enjoyed the quality and diversity of food which we shared between 4 of us. Simple popadums with spice and sauces were excellent. Main courses were splendid and filling. Really tasty and ample.

Amazing food but the restaurant was very warm. One of the best curries I’ve had!

This is my favourite restaurant for Indian food. The flavours have depth unlike anywhere else I have been. The meat is always tender. I have been there about 4 or 5 times, now. If you're in Durham and you would like reliably good and flavourful food, I recommend it highly. I have found Adam, the boss, to be great with helping you choose what to get and what drink to pair it with. A bonus is that the service is quick. Overall, my experience can be summed up in one word: YUM!

Overall good quality ingredients and flavours, but spoilt by having too much oil (or was it ghee?) in each sauce. Waiter was rather abrupt when telling me I had to leave our little table for 2 straight away, after I had paid (and left a tip) and was just waiting for my wife to return from the loo! Additionally, the tables are just too small to fit side dishes on.

Wonder if the restaurant has changed hands as the food bore little resemblance to what we have experienced here in the past. It was very bland, one dish over salted and generally lacked the flavour normally associated with Indian food. For what we received it was overpriced so doubt I'll be back. Waiting staff seemed new too and could do with some training. Not up to standard on any level.

As always; lovely tasty food, cooked to perfection. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. Great atmosphere. Great selection for veggies and vegans too. Wouldn't keep returning if it wasn't so good.

Small restaurant, which meant that when a large group came in and sat on the tables next to us we couldn't hear each other talking. Food was good and reasonably priced. The wait staff were absolutely faultless and definitely made the experience better all round. They definitely need to invest in a self-closing door for the entrance of the restaurant... nobody closes it behind them, which means it was really cold where we were sat, and the wait staff must have to close it a hundred times a day!

Dined on a Thursday evening, restaurant was busy but we were seated immediately and smother service was excellent. There is an extensive menu and the food was first class. I'd highly recommend this place.

Food was fantastic, all 4 of us had different dishes and all were brilliant. Very busy and staff were great, very pleasant and attentive. Just round the corner from the cathedral where we went to a concert by candlelight.

Great food and excellent menu choice , service was good , waiters were polite but the whole dining experience was marred by a group of guys who were over the top in terms of rowdiness for the whole of the evening which in turn destroyed the ambience. The noise levels were such that it was difficult to hear my partner talk.

After reading reviews thought food was going to be better, left feeling disappointed othe indian restaurant are far better

Amazing food and service as always. The staff remembered our drinks order from the last time we were there (which was our first time a few weeks ago) and even the chef came out to say hello too. Looking forward to returning, especially as this is one of a few in the area that serve vegan versions of their food. Amazing. Phill and Rachel.

Excellent front of house service, but only masks the bland food, tasteless gritty sauce, Jalfrezi,asked for Madras hot, was told it comes Madras hot but can make more spicy, never happened,wife had chicken tikka, very dry and tasteless and oily, save yourself a disappointing night out, Spice Tailor sauces much better.

Amazing devouring food! I ordered chicken roghan with dal makhni and it was heavenly. The restaurant staff is super friendly as well. Love this place. Highly recommended

Excellent visit, my partner is garlic intolerant, no problem the food was cooked very quickly to order and the taste and quality for both our meals was 1st class. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves INDIAN cuisine, we will certainly be visiting again. To top it all I had left my hat but a staff member chased me down the the road to reunite my head with the hat, what better service can you ask for.

Lovely restaurant up by the cathedral & castle. Adham makes you very welcome & his mother who prepares all the food visits you to check everything is OK. Very tasty food & a highly recommended place to visit & eat at when in Durham.

From our curry club that goes to an individual Indian restaurant in Durham every month of the year I have to say this experience was exquisite, every part of the food was delicious and everyone was so happy with the service delivers. We highly recommend visiting shaheens for a different but very very good experience of Indian food.

The food was very good, the place was warm and welcoming, and the service was impeccable. Definitely one of the best restaurants in the city!
