Great atmosphere, excellent food and great staff. This is a superb Chinese restaurant serving a great range of excellent food and wine. Chopsticks are not compulsary but are fun to try.
The food is first class. The atmosphere is first class. The service is first class. The environment is first class. The whole experience was amazing all over
Food very good, up to the usual standard, staff could do with wiring a smile now and again, found them a bit abrupt. Apart from that as I said, was good.
Have been coming here since the 1970s, food still great.
Good was really good. Service a bit slow (order took a while and had to ask for the bill twice) but on the whole a great experience
Always a great restaurant. We go here from time to time and it has never disappointed. I recommend you you give it try, you won't be disappointed!
Yet another lunch time visit and as always god very good and great value. I really enjoy both the spring rolls and tried the crispy beef this time so recommended you try both
The restaurant is situated in the West End , and is accessed up a flight of stairs.Public transport is very convenient as the bus stops are right outside the restaurant . Decor is bright and cheerful , and food is excellent, with portions on the large side plus free prawn crackers. We had Deep fried king Prawns and Pork Ribs to start, followed by Crispy shredded beef and roasted duck curry, both of a high standard. Service was a little slow but the restaurant was quite busy on a Friday night. The bill for two courses plus wine , for two persons, was £45 , which was a pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was lovely Service Was diabolical , we waited over an hour to get our main meal, when it arrived after we complained, The two waiters That came with our food one was rude and had no manners. Saying that when I complained we got an apology And our Second Round of drink on the house also discount of our bill, which is good but not what you are looking for on a night out😤. Maybe some sort of voucher As a when of an apology Would help!! As we have been customers off and on for some time coming with different friends.
Terrible, been to this restaurant many times. It’s usually excellent. I don’t know what happened on this occasion, food was tasteless. Service ok at best. New management perhaps?
Excellent good quality food. Our favourite Chinese restaurant. Restaurant was very busy but service was good, staff attentive but not overbearing, just as we like it. Looking forward to next visit.
A very nice atmosphere and very good service. The food was excellent and we had a party of 7 with two young children and they were good to them too.
Food good very quiet restaurant only four other people but despite the service was a bit slow. At one point there were more staff than customers but they seemed happy conversing with each other
Food was excellent. Service had room for improvement .despite restaurant not being busy. Price was good quality. Lovely surroundings and our table had a good location
Very good restaurant in the centre of town. Good food well presented and very good value for money. One minus is that the decor could be updated.
We have been eating here as a family for 25 years as as a Father’s Day treat it was a unaminous vote. Duck to start , best shredded beef anywhere and chicken yellow bean sauce were amongst our choices. Top place.
Great quality for the price of a lunch at £8.99. Staff are very friendly and obliging. On Wednesday the restaurant was very busy. Pity the stairway entrance is so neglected.
Fantastic meal and service once again. . Congrats to the staff there. Our go to restaurant in Edinburgh. Quality remains the same whether its lunchtime or evening meals.
Very nice meal with friendly staff and good service thanks To and we can see our best friend at work we have asked if she was
Popped in for quick lunch and was not disappointed food good as ever with decent choice of mains
Excellent lunch, excellent service and excellent value. Will definitely visit here again and recommend to others. We sampled a range of the lunch menu between 4 of us and everything was delicious.
Our table was ready on arrival, the staff were friendly. Menu had a large variety of dishes, food was excellent and good value for money. Would definitely recommend this restaurant
The Rendezvous was always our favourite restaurant however on this occasion it failed to live up to standard. The main course prawns were chewy not succulent as expected and apparently the duck was not the best either. We waited ages before our drinks order was taken by a surly waitress tho other staff were at their usual charming. There was a lengthy gap in one starter being served after the other 2 which is unacceptable in a group of only 3 people. Perhaps the chef is new or the ownership has changed since our last visit some time ago but I doubt we will be back,
We absolutely love this restaurant for its outstanding food and excellent service. The wine list is extremely fair priced but if you’d rather BYOB the corkage charge is £5 per bottle.
Can’t beat the food here. It’s delicious! It’s always busy but they always seem to serve you as quickly as they can. You can bring your own bottle too for a £5 corkage charge per bottle so it can make it a bit cheaper. Lunch is particulate good value for £8.95 for three courses.
Good food at good prices. Having been there a few times the only minor criticism I would have is the rather unwelcoming entrance on the ground floor...........but perhaps they don't own it and cannot up-grade!
Excellent food and great service have always enjoyed the food here and will continue to use the restaurant both for lunch and evening meals in future
Great food, service and atmosphere. I highly recommend the Kung Pao chicken, which was especially good. Portion sizes were also really good. Good value for money
It was a long time after arriving that we finally got served with drinks , waiter apologised due to lack of staff , food was very good but didn’t bring something we ordered . Overall food was lovely but service could be better , but no reflection on waiting staff .
Had the lunch menu and the beef curry was really good would certainly have it again
The lunch menu had enough choices and the spring rolls tasted like the were hand made so would have those again. Beef curry as nice some poerry flavour but not overpowering all in good value and tasty
Always great food cooked fresh to order. Amazing lunch value menu and lovely service. Been coming to the Rendevouz for years and it never disappoints.
Excellent starters - fresh cooked and full of flavour. Mains were not up to the same standard though, with very little meat in the 2 chicken dishes and some overly-thick sauces. First beer was served warm, so was returned and replaced, and the bill was wrong. Service was very pleasant, and was still an enjoyable evening.
A hidden gem of a restaurant - excellent food and service and they really know how to look after their regular customers! Worth visiting time and again.
Food great staff wonderful. Noticed there were pictures missing from the wall. Years ago the Restaurant had lovely white tablecloths. I have been going to your restaurant for about 40 years. The tables are a bit shabby so white tablecloths would be an improvement. But the food is delicious as ever.
Didn't enjoy the food. Our drinks didn't arrive, we had to ask for them when the food was being served. The lemon chicken didn't arrive along with the other dishes and we had to wait. When it did arrive it had far too much vinegar in the sauce. You could smell it as soon as the plate was placed down. We waited ages for the bill and as we were paying by card we waited and waited for them to come with the machine. We just got up and paid at the bar. Poor quality food & poor service. I won't be back or recommend
Though there were some empty tables, we were placed at next to people who were noisy and rude. Staff did ask us how we were but they didn't do anything about them. My food was not hot enough. We didn't have a good experience.
We had a lovely meal. Excellent service and excellent food. Extremely high quality. I would highly recommend the restaurant. Look forward to going back in the near future.
Everyone enjoyed their food. They need to change the price on website as it says £7.99 but charged £8.99 per set meal..
We have been coming here for many years and the food never disappoints. Service is very good. A really nice restaurant whether it’s for lunch or dinner. You will enjoy the extensive menu.
Nothing to shout about , food was ordinary , service was good but there was hardly anybody there so it should have been. toilets poor, atmosphere non existent , It's like going back in time to the eighties , Would we go back afraid not , There are far better Chinese restaurants in Edinburgh.. sorry ...
Food amazing as always! Arrived an hour early and was seated without any issues. Fantastic service. Would recommend the Spicy Ribs, they are so tasty.
Very nice Chinese restaurant and staff. Good size portions and the quality of the food was excellent. Great location just off princess street. Would definitely recommend.
we are very fond of the restaurant and yet surprised even more by a "new to us" of our self selected banquet "mains" we are very fond of the restaurant and yet surprised even more by a "new to us" of our self selected banquet "mains" we are very fond of the restaurant and yet surprised even more by a "new to us" of our self selected banquet "mains"
Great place for a work lunch. The set lunch menu is excellent value for 3 courses, and food was very tasty. Service was good, we'll be back!
Best Chinese restaurant in Edinburgh by a mile. We have been going there for over 20 years and it never disappoints. Salt and pepper chicken, deep fried shredded chilli beef and chicken with cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce are our favourites.
Excellent lunch on Mother's Day. Food freshly cooked and we finished it all as it was too nice to leave despite feeling a bit full at the end!
Fantastic food as always, staff also friendly as always, will be back in the near future. A great place to go where you are guaranteed good food.
Excellent quality superb service great value for money. Took mum for mothers day. She is 87 and she loved it. Lunch menu just enough. Fabulous.
Rendezvous is the top Chinese restaurant in Edinburgh. The food was excellent, the service was prompt and the venue is comfortable. The menu is also extensive so there will be a dish for everyone. I would recommend it to anyone.
