Rendezvous Chinese Restaurant

Booked last minute and glad we did. Good food - very busy and a good atmosphere - staff were attentive and friendly. Spicy ribs were really delicious.

Food was good and plentiful, however two portions of rice seemed very small. The service was fairly slow even though the restaurant was not full. We also asked for a half portion of a particular main as a starter. They said no problem and it would be of a similar price to the other starters. When our bill came they had charged us the main course price, when we queried this they did provide an amended bill but had now added a 10% service charge. When I said to the waitress that the service charge was at our discretion she didn’t seem to understand. Unlikely to go again.

Poor service Limp And tasteless aromatic duck which had been ordered crispy Barbecued pork did not taste bbq’d So may be oldest in the capital but needs a shake up Yes place busy but lack of choice or lack of taste

Very good food and attentive service. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Very clean. Reasonably priced. Waitress understanding of English not too great but ok. Will definitely return again

Excellent food as always. I had the satay beef which was tremendous. Great location at the west end in Edinburgh. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing food, highly recommend the Banquet. We really enjoyed ourselves and were served by mostly excellent staff. Unfortunately the waitress with the glasses was a bit grumpy.

Pleasant surroundings, attentive staff and wonderfully tasty food! I would recommend the Rendezvous to anyone who is looking for a seriously good Chinese meal, lovely!

Great food, friendly and helpful service, cater brilliantly for gluten free diners, it was very busy on a Saturday early evening but our party of 9 was well catered for and all the food was delicious!

This was our first time at this restaurant. We were a party of four, everyone enjoyed their meal and the service was great. We hope to return to this restaurant in the future.

Food was delicious (as per usual) and the wine was excellent. The waiting staff seemed quite new, but they offered a good and speedy service.

I Gave the score card a 4 out of six but the food was definitely a 5+. The 4 was due to the service. It took 25 minutes before we were given a drinks menu which I had to get up from the table to get. The food took a long time and the main arrived in drips and drabs but once arrived, it was was delicious. The waiting staff were absolutely loveley but just not coordinated.. Maybe the kitchen was understaffed last night but if it was, they should have warned us and we would have adapted and understood. The bill was supprisingly good value and I left the waiting staff £20 tip.

A good welcome from staff. Good atmosphere about the place as it was very busy. Waitress took our order quickly as did the wine waiter. Prawn crackers quickly served before the main course. Meal arrived sizzling hot. Overall a good experience.Meal very good. Defo go back

Another lovely meal at Rendezvous. No need for menus anymore, ribs and shredded beef with chilli sauce - every time! Can't wait for our next visit.

Excellent meal and wonderful surroundings. A great experience all round. Even though they hadn't received our online booking - and they were very busy - they managed to accommodate us.

Service not good left waiting and they got the order wrong. Disappointed first time have not enjoyed the food and have went for many years.

We were a party of 17 people, the food was very good, we were there for the party night however the banquet per person was far too much food. It would've been good to be offered the banquet for 12 people as I believe it would have been more than enough without wasting so much.

Had a great meal at Rendevous on Xmas day! Lots of good food and the portions were big. Staff were really friendly and helpful. A great time had by all!!

Works night out for 16 of us and they gave us a really good space. Food was Devine and the festive menu was only £11.50 per head!! Great, quick service especially for a Saturday night. Will be back!!

Food was lovely and the service was fine but they mixed up our starter order so I have to take away one star. Would still go back as the food was so good.

Nowhere near as good as the Loon Fung. Plastic covered Menus look cheap, and seemed nearly worn out: they seriously let down the impression you should want to give. I've seen better in "greasy spoon cafes". Service very attentive, though.

Food was good as usual. but service not so good,we ordered rice with one of our dispensing waitress had to come Back to table and ask if we would like to order rice?'I had to ask for water and also had to ask for sugar after ordering coffee. These items. should be offered regardless of whether needed or not.Still enjoyed my meal

I have been to the Rendezvous many times over the past 35 yrs I never need to look a the Menu as i know what my choice will be I was so disappointed that the recipe for the Crispy Shredded chili beef has been changed since i was last there The beef was much thicker and the coating on the beef was different and It now seems it is the same as all other chinese restuarants so I will not be ordering it again

First rate way to book a table in Edinburgh wouldn,t hesitate to use it again and recommend it to friends especially good for this busy time of year

Had been meaning to try Rendezvous for ages and finally got round to it, so glad we did. The food was really lovely. According to some previous reviews the service wasn't up to much but I disagree, the two servers were very pleasant and efficient even when it got really busy. Will definitely eat here again especially with the lunch menu being so good value for money and I have already recommended to friends and family!

Excellent food and generous portions. Just a bit eager trying to take your plates between courses and staff not communicating with each other but very friendly. Definitely go again.

Fantastic food, in a relaxed atmosphere with great service. The steamed dumplings and crispy duck were superb and the grilled chicken was really tasty (as were the other dishes we had).

Food was average compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area. Starter came within minutes of ordering which usually makes me feel it is all pre cooked and reheated. The main course was equally quick and in all we were "turned around" in under an hour!! Disappointing as we have eaten here before and have always enjoyed it.

Excellent food served efficiently. Always seems to be busy but food served promptly. My kids love coming here, an Edinburgh institution and well worth a visit.

Excellent food. A good experience for lovers of Chinese cuisine. The only criticism would be the entrance and stairs to the restaurant. Very dilapidated and shabby. Not a good first impression. However, once inside a very attractively set up dining area.
