Excellent.Well presented and very good service. Waitress gave valuable advice and information about the menu and its choices as well as the quality and the variety of wines available.

Took the Pre-theatre set meals. tasty starter. Mains can be better in terms of the taste. Ambience was great and so are the interior decoration

After a matinee show with friends at the kings theatre, we had a delicious three course meal at the red onion, was great value for money and the staff where charming and attentive, will definitely be back.

We were given a voucher as a gift and went with friends. We had a fantastic meal and we will definitely be back very soon!

Food was delicious. Having a vegan menu was a bonus too as often vegetarian options can be disappointing in restaurants. Staff friendly and helpful too.

Fabulous place, food always delicious. Quick no fuss service, great wines and even better cocktails. Recommend trying the ‘gin fizz’ which is equal to anything you get served in a high end cocktail bar. Also you must try the frozen raspberries and hot white chocolate sauce

The service was a wee bit slow, even when eye contact was made. Also I felt my main wasn’t great, I wasn’t convinced the chicken was cooked all the way it looked slightly pink and no one approached to ask how things were. I was grateful my starter was nice

Enjoyed our early evening meal. Good choice on the pre theatre menu and excellent value at £14.95 for 2 courses. Service was pleasant and efficient.

The food was super. Really lovely menus and great vegan choices. The atmosphere is really great there. It was quite busy but we weren’t in any rush so didn’t mind. Reasonabley priced for the high quality of food. Would definitely go back.

In for lunch it was quite quiet although that suited us. As usual food was to a good standard and the staff were very attentive

Small and quaint restaurant where we arrived a half hour early, they made us welcome and showed us straight to a table. The menu came and we had a bottle of their own brewed red ale which was very good. We ordered and the food came quickly and was of exceptional quality, 3courses and didn’t leave a scrap. Excellent

Lovely meal - catered for both the steak eater and the vegan in our group. Service was pleasant and the set menu had great variety and good value.

Lovely restaurant visited with my Aunt who is a celiac and found that most dishes were gluten free or could be made to be gluten free, lovely choice

The food was delicious, great selection for vegetarian/vegans. Service was great, everyone is very friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself is lovely and the atmosphere is great.

Overall it was good but could have been much better. Food was too salty, servers seemed distracted, no one came back to check everything was ok with our meal.

Went with friends and had a great evening. Food was delicious with a great choice on the Pre Theatre menu, 3 courses under £17. The restaurant had a great atmosphere Staff were very pleasant & attentive. We have no hesitation in recommending Red Onion. You won't be disappointed.

The service was excellent. The meal itself was good but not fantastic. However the coast was very reasonable given the food and service level generally. My guests enjoyed the visit.

We were welcomed promptly and efficiently. The food was delicious. There is a great choice on the menu so something for everyone. We were also offered a vegetarian and gluten free menu if required.

The food was lovely however despite a phonecall a week in advance of our visit and their accommodation of vegan/vegetarian/gluten free diets the chef seemed annoyed at having to accommodate for my nut allergy. We booked the tasting menu through itison and the ‘sample’ menu featured a dish containing peanuts. I called to check that I could either skip that course or be offered a suitable alternative (as chosen by the restaurant- I’m not fussy and eat anything apart from the obvious). I was told this wouldn’t be a problem. I was left feeling embarrassed when the chef approached our table and asked why I had booked the tasting menu when I have a nut allergy. I was disappointed with his attitude but he was eventually able to offer me an alternative.

Absolutely delicious, and prompt friendly service. I was dining with two Vegan friends, and everyone was very happy with their options and choices. We would definitely want to return!

Food OK but glasses very used/scratched looking. Damp smell. Bone in chicken salad. Requested fizzy water and given a glass with fizzy soda, no bottle of water provided even though small bottles of coke given for others. Felt a little cheap.

Lovely food in really nice surroundings. The stafff were very friendly and helpful after we asked to get our table moved away from the door. Had the pre theatre menu which is great value.

I'm coeliac (gluten intolerant) and good choice of items on menu to choose from. Always impressed. Staff knowledgeable. And good choice of cocktails to accompany food!

Booked for midweek lunch with 5 others. Cold day and on arrival a small electric fire was on beside the door which was welcoming, but no staff to direct us to our table. After several minutes one of my team went to the back of the restaurant to seek help. Waitress was delightful and top marks for her. Food and choices were of a good standard from the set menu. Unlucky for me that the salmon was finished so I was offered a fish cake instead, which was delicious - served with sauce and rocket - the plate did seem a little bare for a main course. The restaurant was comfortable and service was very good. Overall I would recommend, the set lunch is good value.

Red Onion was a great food experience. Some thing different, scottish cuisine with a twist, and would recommend. First time at the restaurant but will certainly be back 🙂

Absolute gem of a place loved it ! Had fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection, everything about this place is perfect would definitely recommend

Lovely meal, helpful staff & our vegan meals were really delicious. Burger a bit dry could do with some fried onion on bun. Asked for vegan mayonaise, once that on burger it was lovely. Lovely chilled atmosphere.

It was very good apart from at the end we asked to see the dessert menu but it never can and we had to leave as we couldn’t wait any longer

Visited with my mum after seeing jersey boys at the kings theatre, was booked for 6 pm arrived at 5.30 were welcomed and shown to our table without having to wait which was good as it was a cold night, food was outstanding as usual, have been to red onion often and would recommend it, have enjoyed food every time I have eaten here, mum enjoyed her meal also, will be back next time in Glasgow for a meal .

Great food, the tasting menu is definitely something worth going for. And the wine pairing was brilliant. Service was fantastic, couldn’t fault it. Would definitely return.

Here as a part of a group of 4. One of our group was vegan. Really impressed with the choice of meals available. We all loved our meal food excellent with excellent service. Will definitely return.

The comfortable, welcoming surroundings were topped off by great service with attentive staff and fabulous food. Excellent food for the price. Have been 4 times now and will definitely be back for more.

Amazing, well designed plates of food. Great that they cater to vegans or anyone requiring a gluten free diet. Atmosphere and service were excellent. It will visit again soon

We loved the food and the ambience. The only downside was watching the male server use his hands to handle the cut bread from a large container. He had previously emptied the bin and no sign of cleaning his hands.. One of the female servers used antibacterial gel and used a napkin to remove the bread before serving. I'm sure they have all been on a hygiene course and know what they should do.
