This was my second visit to Red Onion with my friend. Food was lovely service fine especially the young man. Place felt cold no atmsphere
Excellent value for money for a set lunch menu, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The standard of the food was first class, particularly the chargrilled pork loin and chorizo ragu, which was absolutely superb.
Love Red Onion. Good food and service are always the order of the day on every occasion Ive been there. Bang bang chicken salad is fab.
Great food but disappointed with table.asked for a booth upstairs but told only for 4 people and there was only 2 of us.while having our meal .a couple came in and were offered the booth.which they took.then the same happened with the remaining booth.spoke to waitress who we first asked when we entered the restaurant on why the table in the booth was given to 2 people rather than 4 ? Her answer was.."sorry" no explanation or reason....no offer of a free drink or anything....wouldn't recommend the red onion to friends due to this
Food & service was great. Only issue is that the restaurant is not lit on the outside so it is very hard to find (in the rain!).
The restaurant was comfortable. The food was fabulous, prepared not just to feed you but to entertain you as well. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The bill for all that was very reasonable. We will cerrtainly visit again next time we are in Glasgow.
Amazing restaurant! Food quality and service was first class. There were three of us and we booked in advance and told them about our dietary requirements. One was Coeliac, one vegetarian and one vegan. When we arrived and were seated we were presented with three separate menus for each of our various needs. This is amazing, and unheard of anywhere else in Glasgow. The waiting staff could not have been more helpful and friendly, and they obviously had been trained in what each of our allergies / requirements meant. As if that wasn't enough, all our meals were delicious and inventive. We will definitely be back!
Great food, lovely atmosphere and really nice waitress. Top class, we will be going back. Great options for my wife who needs Gluten Free options.
Delicious food and a wide variety of dishes were on offer. Although the restaurant was busy the staff were very attentive and friendly. Excellent , would highly recommend.
I ordered a pre-theatre set menu and the food rate was okay for me, I was expecting more better than that. Overall ambience and service provided was great.
Great food and service and we will be back, but please dust the flowers and shelves' that can be seen when you are sitting upstairs
Lovely meal and excellent attention by staff, including John himself. Some of the interior is showing signs of wear but apart from that, a very good experience and value for money. We'll be back.
Fantastic, tasty food. Restaurant has a great atmosphere. The waiting staff were brilliant, they went beyond their remit to ensure customers were happy. Would definitely recommend. Will be back soon.
Excellent food, warm atmosphere and great service. The chef patron even came out to ask us how the food was! Would definitely recommend this place.
Great food great service. Could be a bit warmer in heat terms. My spanish pork loin with chorizo was delectable. Sweet awesome. Might noy have been happy at being invaded by a coach party if Scandinavians wanting our table had i not been catching a flight. Will be back.
Great food and great service. A very enjoyable lunch. Excellent would highly recommend this restaurant. Extensive gluten free menu is great, huge choice for a change.
Excellent service and food to die for took friends for birthday celebration staff at red onion made it a special night for all of us thanks again for a wonderful evening
Fantastic, food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Decided on this place as they have extensive menus so even my celiac friends had lots of options - will definitely be back!
It was OK - starter nice ( scallops) I'd the brisket which was nice but my wife's fishcake wasn't so great - cold poached egg
Early evening options for pre-theatre or a la carte menu provide good choice. Food nicely cooked, good atmosphere and chef came to table to check we were enjoying the meal.
Excellent gluten free menu and knowledgeable friendly staff. Scallops and Monkfish dishes were delicious. I will definitely be back soon. Well done John an his team.
Bang bang chicken not as good as last time, main meal which was duck was not warm enough as were the potatoes. I have been to the Red Onion numerous times and felt the £211 bill for 4 was not worth it.- sorry. I am just being honest. We eat out at least 2-3 times a week.
Came for set lunch. Lovely food and ambience as always. The service was pretty good, although slightly more friendly would be nice...and we were asked 3 times in 5 minutes if we were ready to order.
I was here for my anniversary dinner. The food was great and the service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. We will definitely be back.
Bang bang chicken starter was a bit bland. Had to wait half hour for bill. When we arrived put in very small table at door with a pillar and had to be moved.
This is the third time I have booked in at the red onion and I am still surprised at the excellant quality of food I am even more surprised as I am a celiac and their menu compares better than any other restaurant that I have attended
Starters and dessert were substandard. Very disappointed as I've had such good experiences in the past, if it were my first time visiting then I'd be reluctant to go again. Was hopefully just a one off.
Great food and lovely kind staff. Having a vegan menu is great and very tasty. The decor is very tasteful and welcoming. Will definitely return.
Great food and great staff.made to feel very welcome.i would recommend it as a premier venue for a night out.will certainly be going back soon.
Lovely meal at red onion the pre theatre/lunch menu is great value for money. Reasonably priced wine list also & staff pleasant & attentive. We were seated in a booth downstairs with plenty of room for four people
Lovely food - french onion soup was so perfectly authentic in flavour and presentation. Really great wines to choose from. Exciting menu - a heady mix of traditional and bold, blended to perfection. Tip-top service!
Fabulous restaurant. Great vegan menu. The bean burger was amazing. Really tasty food and a super service. Could not be faulted. The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere. Thank you for a. super evening.
Fabulous food Great service. an absolute pleasure to go there Red Onion never fails to deliver. It is my restaurant of choice whenever I am in Glasgow
Fantastic service, very helpful and extremely wide range for all tastes. Particularly great for allergies and Vegan/vegetarian! The waiter was extremely helpful in choosing everything, from meal recommendations to wine selection. Also, the brew their own ale! its a must try!
Food was ok The service was dreadful it was my daughter graduation No attention given for that Ask to order all three course was this a 100 seated wedding Told it made it easier for kitchen to prepare Who was paying Ask for cocktails menu no just wine However full bar with a cocktail shaker
Had lunch with their fixed lunch menu, 2x courses for £10.50 / 3x courses for £13.50. Food was excellent and great value. Only negative was price of the drinks. No draught beer available and 330ml bottle of local lager was £4.95 and 175ml of wine was £6.15. Accept that the drink prices subsides the food but still think the price of the drinks was excessive
Visited Red Onion for lunch with relations from abroad. We were not disappointed. Food was delicious, staff friendly. We will certainly be back & reccommend..
Delicious food, lively atmosphere and great service. A chat with John Quigley himself went down a treat with my mum whose birthday we were celebrating. Thoroughly recommended.
Friendly and efficient staff. Great food. Not too large and not too small portions. Our 2nd visit and will be back when we visit the city next time.
Good food served with friendly service. It was nice to be offered water automatically. More prominent outer signage would be helpful in preventing this good restaurant being overlooked by passers-by. I was meeting a friend there but she couldn't find it, having already walked past it twice.
Great Scottish food perfectly cooked and beautifully presented Staff courteous and attentive..decor and ambience stunning..love eating here Nice touch by Mr Quigley as he mingles through the tables chatting..done in a very understated way...like that😍 Highly recommend the Red Onion
Friendly fast service. Made welcome on arrival and throughout whole meal. Food was great. Good value for money. Will definitely use again and recommend to others
My husband and I had a really lovely meal today. Blade of beef was amazing, as was fruit crumble. First visit and definitely not the last. Would highly recommend . Going to have the summer sampler menu next time.
The vegan menu had an excellent choice and the food was very good. The staff are pleasant, friendly and very accommodating. Will definitely go back.
Food was absolutely fabulous and the desserts were to die for - both the brownie with honeycomb ice cream and the frozen raspberries with hot white chocolate were amazing !
Very good vegetarian and vegan menus. Service was excellent. We had the 3 course set menu and the food was fine. The frozen berry dessert is worth ordering.
Been here plenty of times and never wrote a review, it's definitely my favourite restaurant in Glasgow. Have brought my entire family here and lo and behold my mother had 3 courses! This for a woman who eats a main and leaves half on the plate 😅 Staff is adorable but the main reason I love it is because the menu is so thought through, all the flavours go beautifully together and their vegan menu is absolutely fantastic, I can only recommend it.
2nd time at Red onion . great service ...friendly atmosphere. delicious 2 course lunch . the risotto was terrific and I will definitely be back . highly recommend it
The restaurant coped with the change in numbers. The food was very good as was the service. Downside was the £20 service charge because we were more than six. I know that it is in the small print, but I really don't see the need as obviously the got two more starters, mail courses, drinks and an extra bottle of wine!
Pre theatre menus was excellent - good value and food superb. The ladies toilets let the restaurant down - don't flush properly need updated !!
