My party had a diverse range of dietary requirements, but we were all able to get food to suit us. The service was pleasant and food and wine excellent.

Second visit to this wonderful eatery. This is casual fine dining if there is such a thing. Every morsel is worthy of a mention and the atmosphere is comparable to having friends over for dinner - just much more than normal!! On our latest visit "Chef" made an appearance at our table to apologise for a noisy hen party - no apology required - we were loving the fun. He also added he had 62 people in from a choir over from USA again no apology required especially when we got a rendition of Going to the Chapel to accompany the hen party. Great night. Food amazing. Will we visit again - try and stop us. Only one complaint from hubby - no draught beer!!! We will just leave him at home next time !!! Sorted.

Rather nervously, I booked this place for dinner with a visiting friend; I had no personal recommendation and was just going off web reviews. But it was pretty good and worked out well. We had the "pre-theatre menu", despite arriving at 7.45 pm on a Wednesday. We both had a very (!) simple starter of pâté and oat cakes before I had steak and chips and my friend the pork loin. These mains were good and filling. We then both had a very (!) simple dessert. To accompany the food we had some Glasgow tap water and a bottle of Chilean Merlot. The food came to about £35 and the wine £30! The wine list is not cheap at this restaurant. Overall, however, I was pleased with my choice of eatery and would go there again. It was busy, indicating that I am not alone in this judgement. The staff were very friendly and chatty.

Finally a restaurant that has taken the time to understand dietary requirements. A lovely a la carte and pre theatre menu for gluten free. Dinner was beautiful, second visit and certainly won't be the last. Also got to speak to John quiggly who is the owner. Well done John thank you for another lovely meal.

Good food. Friendly service. There were 4 in our party and we were given a booth upstairs. It felt rather cramped and we were all of slim (ish!) build. It was the first time I had been upstairs and I was slightly disappointed by that. However the food was good and they offer a good menu for vegans which was useful on this occasion.

Very disappointed in overall experience, staff and service was slow, despite the restuarant being empty. Food was medioca. Toilets were not very clean and three cubicles did not flush. Was very excited about dining here will not recommend to anyone or return personally.

The food and service were generally ok for the price we paid. The table we were sat at still had crumbs on it. Was reasonably busy for a Sunday afternoon.

The fact that the Red Onion actually has a separate vegan menu with choice is amazing. A chef that can take the time to make good vegan food in a nice environment in Glasgow is a novelty. We are older Vegans and like to eat out in a nice places, the combination is often hard to find in Glasgow. You can get good vegan food but its usually pub grub and this is okay but sometimes you just want an up market feel to your night out. I am a Chef and Nutritional therapist and very picky about what I eat, so enjoying a meal out can be a challenge. So well done Red Onion on offering a better service.

The food was fantastic, full of flavours and presented beautifully. The service was excellent, quick, let's us alone to decide what we wanted. The place was busy with 2 big parties arriving in staff handled it superbly whilst dealing with the smaller parties dotted through the restaurant. Just a few wee pointers that could have made it prefect the table was full of salt (as if it hadn't been cleaned properly I blew it off) and the hand dryer in the ladies toilets didn't work. Food and service was delightful

A nice ambience, overall. The friendly chef took the time to speak to us, the staff were engaging and appeared genuinely interested in delivering a great experience. The food ... wow ... absolutely delicious!! We were previously regular guests at a restaurant around the corner, yet thought to try Red Onion for a bit of variety, and we are absolutely thrilled that we did so. Looks like we're changing our regular lunch location!!

Very impressed with this restaurant. Loved the red/purple design & spacious table room. I visited years ago & had forgotten what a gem it is. There was four of us & the pre-theatre menu had plenty and varied choices to suit everyone at £16.95 for 3 courses. Good amount of food but I wasn't stuffed, which was good as we were heading to the theatre. Service was professional but friendly. This is definitely on my list to revisit.

The Red Onion is a lovely place to eat. The atmosphere is calming and the food and service are excellent. My score is slightly downgraded as the steak frites we all had were quite tough and we did report this to the server who offered to bring us something else but we had no time to wait for another dish to be prepared. The other courses were delicious so I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Ate off the lunch menu, French Onion Soup was fantastic to start! Both mains were of very high quality (pork loin and lemon chicken) - couldn't fault any dish, and was very good value!

Food and service were both excellent. A minor issue with my friend's chicken dish was quickly sorted out by the friendly and helpful staff. The atmosphere was good and although it was a warm night the temperature inside the restaurant was pleasant. We were not rushed in any way and they were happy to give us a good break between our main course and our sweets. It was nice to meet John Quigley himself when he came round the tables later in the evening.

Very good pre-theatre meal, great value and friendly efficient service. Only slightly sour note was that one of our company wanted the steak, which was extra - fair enough in principle, but the scrawny shilpit piece of meat that actually came was very disappointing. Anyway it would be wrong to emphasise that (even though that's what I've just done) as the rest was really good. Maybe a one off: we all have off moments, and Mr Quigley will be no exception. Try it, it's good: but ca' canny about the steak!

Absolutely first class. We took our son there (he is vegan, we are not!) and we all had a super meal. The waitress was extremely helpful and friendly, the atmosphere was perfect - busy but we still felt we had our own space. Nothing was too much bother and we will certainly go back next time we are in Glasgow.

Lovely place. I ate in Red Onion several times now and not once was disappointed. Food is just delicious. Cooked nicely and very tasty. Lovely staff. And price! What a great value for your money! Definitely place to eat if you don't want to be disappointed. They have separate menu for every allergy - not many places offers that. 5*
