Some very tasty - although modest - courses on the tasting menu at 5pm on a Friday. Lovely atmosphere and set up in the restaurant. Had the matching wines and had to remind waitress about the last one, but service was very friendly and efficient generally. Would be back, but perhaps for a la carte.

Sent back monkfish as felt was over cooked and dry. Maitre de came to tell us that we could choose something else but he knew it was ‘perfectly cooked’. Very grudges service after that. Waited another 30 minutes plus for rare steak to arrive. No apology.

Excellent service in lovely surroundings. The steak was delicious - and having a 3 course vegan menu made all the difference as no one felt left out.

The food and experience was excellent. Fantastic protestation and service. Our reason for selecting Red Onion was due to seeing it rated on Coeliac discussions, and we were not disappointed.

I had a lovely meal with friends in Red Onion last night. There was a warm, inviting atmosphere in the busy restaurant, although the first waiter we had was a bit abrupt! The food we had was delicious and we enjoyed a chat with John Quigley. I can thoroughly recommend and will be back!

The food was great, especially the vegan options we were all very happy the choice and quality of the food. Only down side for us was we felt the service wasn’t the best. There wasn’t really any attention given to our table of 8. It just felt like they couldn’t be bothered.

I eat here regularly but this is the first time I’ve been seated upstairs and it was lovely. (It’s lovely downstairs too, in the main part of the restaurant) My friend and I were at a table in a booth and it was the perfect spot for a quiet conversation. As always, food and service excellent. And, of course, terrific value.

The ‘girls’ and I eat here regularly - every couple of months when we get together. The food never disappoints and the service is excellent. The staff are professional and we never feel rushed. Most of all, it’s exceptionally good value for money.

My sister is coeliac and therefore can't tolerate gluten, Red Onion have a separate gluten free menu so there was no worry about her getting sick. The food was amazing we both enjoyed our meals, the Duck was so tender as was the steak, the staff are friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back and have already recommended the restaurant to people.

Table not available as large party being seating - v disappointing as last night of our Glasgow holiday. Luckily managed to get a walk-in at a fab Italian nearby where we enjoyed an excellent dinner. The Chef/Owner of Red Onion was concerned by our experience but let down completely by his front of house team.

Food was absolutely delicious. Would absolutely recommend the scallops and bon bon starters, the chicken and duck mains and the brownie and frozen rasperry and white choc desserts. Service was also very friendly and efficient. Very reasonable too as 3 courses each plus 2 drinks apiece was under £80. Highly recommend!

We had a very nice lunch as usual. The staff were friendly and attentive as expected. Our starters of French onion soup and goats cheese were delicious. Our mains of fish cakes and pork were also delicious and desserts of plum crumble and choc brownie finished it all off perfectly. Thanks to all at Red Onion for a lovely meal. Look forward to our next visit.
