The food and experience was excellent. Fantastic protestation and service. Our reason for selecting Red Onion was due to seeing it rated on Coeliac discussions, and we were not disappointed.
Great food, well cooked and presented. The prices are decent for the City Centre. Braised Brisket was melt in the mouth gorgeous and al the other dishes looked equally good.
Menu limited but good value at lunchtime. Staff helpful and attentive. Good facilities. Restaurant is close to theatres and shopping area. Over all a good place to visit.
Great service & staff, plus the food was good as well 👍. We will definitely be back for a return visit to try the à la carte menu - we had the pre theatre menu this time.
Fantastic meal. Service was pleasant but not what we expected fo a taster menu as the food and pairing wines were not explained to us.
Great food. Lovely Vegan menu. Excellent staff! Would recommend it.
Great food and service . Pre theatre menu extremely good value. Locals and tourists eating us always a good sign. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant .
I had a lovely meal with friends in Red Onion last night. There was a warm, inviting atmosphere in the busy restaurant, although the first waiter we had was a bit abrupt! The food we had was delicious and we enjoyed a chat with John Quigley. I can thoroughly recommend and will be back!
Fantastic service and brilliant meal with staff who worked so hard to ensure our enjoyment. I am gluten free so felt very safe and welcome.
Food was okay, but not as good as previous visits. Restaurant tired and has an unpleasant odour, toilets not up to standard re cleanliness. Overall, it's gone a bit downhill and needs attention in all areas.
The food was great, especially the vegan options we were all very happy the choice and quality of the food. Only down side for us was we felt the service wasn’t the best. There wasn’t really any attention given to our table of 8. It just felt like they couldn’t be bothered.
Setting, service and food were excellent. Parking is easily available nearby. Three of us were there on our first visit and all of us will return.
Was a bank holiday weekend. Booked at last minute. Set menu was good with a good variety of dishes to choose from. Food arrived timeously as did our drinks. All in all an average/good experience.
I eat here regularly but this is the first time I’ve been seated upstairs and it was lovely. (It’s lovely downstairs too, in the main part of the restaurant) My friend and I were at a table in a booth and it was the perfect spot for a quiet conversation. As always, food and service excellent. And, of course, terrific value.
Service excellent. Food wonderful, ambiance in Red Onion was great warm and inviting but make sure you book a table. Overall wonderful night had by whole group
We had the vegan taster menu and absolutely loved it! Great to see such delicious, inventive vegan options in a fine dining setting in Glasgow! Will definitely be back next time we have something to celebrate!
Never disappointed been several times and food amazing especially chocolate brownie and pre theatre good value. Staff very friendly and good service. Would recommend trying
Food was terrible. The owner/executive chef wandered around almost oblivious to the poor quality of food coming out of the kitchen. I have eaten here many times before sadly I will never return
Had lunch here. Service was good and food was tasty. Would recommend trying it.
The ‘girls’ and I eat here regularly - every couple of months when we get together. The food never disappoints and the service is excellent. The staff are professional and we never feel rushed. Most of all, it’s exceptionally good value for money.
My sister is coeliac and therefore can't tolerate gluten, Red Onion have a separate gluten free menu so there was no worry about her getting sick. The food was amazing we both enjoyed our meals, the Duck was so tender as was the steak, the staff are friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back and have already recommended the restaurant to people.
Excellent lunch venue. Meal excellent, chosen from a varied lunch/ pre-theatre menu. Staff very good and communicative with patrons. Good, friendly and delightful atmosphere in restaurant. Will return soon.
We had Good service . The Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the menu choice is great. The restaurant has a Lovely ambience.
As ever, a visit to Red Onion does not disappoint. The pre-theatre menu is excellent value for money and we thoroughly enjoyed the perfectly cooked steak frites.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Food great also caters for vegetarians and vegans. Varied menu at reasonable prices. Attentive staff and space between each course just right.
Great food as usual - great selection of food Impeccable service , friendly atmosphere reasonably priced . One of my favourite places in Glasgow to eat
Very good experience, my American relations had a great time. Enjoyable food, good value for money, and thought the wine list was extremely well presented with a excellent choice to pick from. Overall, a great venue, well recommended to others.
Table not available as large party being seating - v disappointing as last night of our Glasgow holiday. Luckily managed to get a walk-in at a fab Italian nearby where we enjoyed an excellent dinner. The Chef/Owner of Red Onion was concerned by our experience but let down completely by his front of house team.
Food was absolutely delicious. Would absolutely recommend the scallops and bon bon starters, the chicken and duck mains and the brownie and frozen rasperry and white choc desserts. Service was also very friendly and efficient. Very reasonable too as 3 courses each plus 2 drinks apiece was under £80. Highly recommend!
Love Red Onion. Food is always fantastic with great service. All reasonably priced too. I will be back very soon. Thanks to everyone at the restaurant.
Beautiful decor, outstanding food and great staff. I had the pork loin with a beautiful tomato and chorizo sauce. It melted in the mouth. We will definitely be back!
Great pre theatre menu and excellent value. Restaurant was not too busy at 6pm Sat 25 Aug. Waiting staff attentive. Will return soon and recommend to others.
Lovely restaurant, great food and ambience, charming staff too! We had the pretheatre menu, 2 courses for £14.95, excellent value. We’ll definitely be back, I’d recommend booking as this is a popular restaurant.
Thoughtful and friendly service, a menu that changes frequently enough to entice many a return visit and excellent food, flavour and presentation. A very good experience and not too expensive either. Highly recommend.
GREAT SERVICE TO DELIVER GREAT FOOD. IT IS NOT THAT HARD TO ACHIEVE AND THE RED ONION MAKE IT SEEM EASY. GREAT RESTAURANT. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE RED ONION. GREAT VEGAN MENU ALSO.
Shocking service and average food. So disappointed. Poor cleanliness, dirty and scratched wine glasses. Won't be back or recommend. First time I have never left a tip in a restaurant.
A wonderful independent restraunt in central Glassgow. Friendly staff offering fresh delicious meals. I am gluten free and this is the best gluten free menu I have ever seen.
We had a very nice lunch as usual. The staff were friendly and attentive as expected. Our starters of French onion soup and goats cheese were delicious. Our mains of fish cakes and pork were also delicious and desserts of plum crumble and choc brownie finished it all off perfectly. Thanks to all at Red Onion for a lovely meal. Look forward to our next visit.
We had an excellent time at Red Onion. The staff were all professional , friendly & very efficient. The general atmosphere was warm & inviting. The food was fabulous. We have been before & will definitely return & recommend to others.
Fast friendly staff , food superb , good atmosphere through , advise to book early as can be busy at peek times . Worth a visit .
Food and service was excellent. Nice restaurant, We had 3 courses from tje pre theatre menu which had a good and varied choice. Will certainly return. One minir negative: Toilets, whilst immaculately clean had an unpleasant smell.
A great place to eat for vegans with a separate vegan menu and good value 2 and 3 course set menus. The service is always excellent and friendly with knowledgeable waiting staff.
A great place for vegans to eat with a separate vegan menu with good value 2 and 3 course set menus. Waiting staff are friendly and knowledgeable and service is always good. Although I’ve never ordered from it the a la Carte looks excellent.
Very good experience. I often struggle to get a good choice being coeliac and here they cater to you fully and don’t make you fell awkward or that you are being annoying having a dietary issue. Delicious food and great service.
We had an excellent meal with very good service - the only slight niggle was that because it was so busy the dessert took a long time to arrive; but as usual we had a very good experience.
Exactly what we wanted for a pre theatre meal. Prompt attentive service. Menu wide enough to provide good choice. Wine list sufficient with good description
Lots of choice on both the full and set lunch menu and Also good value. Staff friendly and helpful and all very quick if required. Nice atmosphere.
This was our 120th meal at Red Onion in just over 2 years - need I say more!
The staff were very welcoming and the menu was very varied . Service was prompt and quality of food was excellent Pricing was good .
I've been looking for a onion soup that could match the quality that I had whilst living in Quebec - sadly, this did not meet my expectations. In addition to something floating in my beverage and having to approach staff to pay - it was a poor standard of service and food overall.
