Fantastic service. Excellent food!! Best we have tasted yet in Edinburgh ! Will definitely be back
The food was of excellent quality and very authentic to true Indian food not the usual tourist fare. Very amiable and friendly waiter.
Never judge a book by its cover! Had a table at 9pm and the place was near empty... on a friday... But what can i say.. food was amazing ( except the haggis samosas but not a game changer) Still.. its now become a favorite! Will be going
Lovely meal & great service - very pleasant staff. Good price for a Saturday night pre-theatre
The visit was great, the staff were very accommodating to my food allergies. Wait time was good until it got busy and then we found we were rushing for our show. We had to ask for dessert menu, we almost cancelled dessert order as it was taking too long and so we paid bill before dessert arriving so we could rush off, this was a real shame as the experience had been great until this point and our whole party enjoyed our food!
Good food but service very poor for a Saturday night waited well over an hour for meal to be served said they were busy hence the reason for delay.
Beautiful place lovely food and friendly staff would highly recommend u too people.its a beautiful restaurant inside too u feel very welcomed by staff.plenty choices of food n drink and not far from bus stop etc or playhouse or omni centre.keep up the good work guys will be back soon.
I was recommended Passage to India from a work colleague and the food lived up to all my expectations. My starter and main were amazing as was my husband's, definitely the best food I've tasted from an Indian restaurant and reasonable priced too.
Meal and service was brilliant will be booking a table for a meal again and I will pass it on to my friend and family.
Food delicious, good value for money. Decor not the best. Nice helpful friendly staff. We would eat there again if going to the theatre or in Edinburgh we are visiting from Glasgow.
Food was excellent only complaint I have is twice I asked for Diet Coke with my drink and twice I was brought coke. Not a biggie in the grand scheme of things but a wee niggle just the same.
Perfect venue for a playhouse visit. Would definitely eat there again. The staff were very helpful when I took a coughing fit and brought water without asking for it. It's touches like that that make the difference.
Food was really good. However, the service was terrible. Initial service there was no issues, for how quiet it was it took a little while for the starters to come out. It then came to our attention that tables who had come in after us were being served before us - another couple we were ok with but when a large table came in they were clearly made priority. Took us asking to be given our main courses. Will not be back, it just felt plain rude if nothing else.
Great menu and excellent service. Enjoyed lamb saag and the mango lassi is highly recommended. Perfect location for pre-theatre supper with family. Now off to see Kinky Boots across the road!
From the out side the restaurant doesn’t look that inviting, but after a chance visit in the summer , we couldn’t wait to come back it’s the best Indian food we have had in a long time and very reasonable priced , we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Edinburgh
The venue was great, the service was very good, the main course was very nice indeed. all 4 of us finished everything at the main course. The only complaint would be the pakora were extremely well done and just crumbled when trying to eat. Unfortunately we didn't complain which probably was a mistake. they should have however recognised they were not to their usual standard,. We will certainly use the restaurant again but be more open at the time if it happens again Jim
great food! made something specially for my girlfriend who is a vegetarian and didn't like what they had to offer so had to wait a little for it but was worth it! good service! highly recommend!
Passage to India was utterly delicious. The menu is quite extensive with clear descriptions for anyone with food allergies or who enjoy less (or more!) spice. We recommend highly.
Great food and service for Friday night supper. King prawn puri was particularly good, as was the tandoori mixed grill. Would highly recommend - great curry in a good location.
Food was delivered promptly with a smile and was delicious as always. Not easy to get this service during the festival. A local gem. Will be back.
We reserved a table to be safe, quickly seated with drinks and food order taken swiftly. Food was very tasty, service was very good, restaurant all clean and tidy. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to friends for a good Indian meal in the centre of Edinburgh. Will definitely be a returning customer.
Amazing food and atmosphere. I will definitely return. Fresh, hot food and served quickly. Very clean and friendly place. Was busy but plenty space between the tables which I like 😀.
Great food both veg and meat dishes. Friendly and efficient staff and excellent value. The restaurant is in the city centre providing east access to the theatre and cinema. We took relatives from the Midlands where they have many Indian restaurants nearby and they were impressed!
We were a party of 9 for my sons stag weekend. Food was excellent , everyone of party said best Indian food ever eaten. Would most certainly go again when in Edinburgh .
We were made to feel very welcome the moment we stepped through the door. The service was outstanding and nothing was too much trouble, they ensured the temperature inside was comfortable for us, was a very hot day when we dined here. The food was just as outstanding as the service, very flavourful and cooked to perfection. We ate from the pre-theatre menu and the portion sizes are big and you certainly have more than enough to eat. Highly recommended this restaurant to everyone.
fantastic place food was lovely would defo go back again prices was good as well could not fault it at all would reccomend it .
Excellent food and good service. Full of flavour. Had the chicken chilli garlic chicken which was perfect. The coconut rice was the best I have tasted.
We enjoyed if from start to finish we will be back starter was great then the main meal was top notch My good lady is in a wheelchair the gave us a good table
Went there with my family. Had the best Indian food of my life. Especially the coconut rice is a must have :) I can highly recommend this restaurant.
When it comes to Indian food with lots of flavour, I can't see past Passage to India. I come here every year for Valentine's day and was there last night for my birthday. The staff are amazing, attentive and cater for all your needs ( we had a person in our party who was dairy free). You won't be disappointed.
Very good tasty food and excellent service with a smile. The chicken puri starter was delicious. Good value, large portions and reasonably priced. I even took a doggy bag home.
Great food and friendly service. Been there 3 times now and i rate it as one of the best Indian restaurants in Edinburgh. Looking forwards to the 4th.
Starter was not cooked properly and no replacement arrived. It was that busy that we had to get our own cutlery between courses. Free drink in compensation.
The food was very tasty and the atmosphere lively on a Saturday night. Despite being short-staffed, the waiting staff were doing their best to keep things moving along, including looking after a few large groups. We enjoyed the dinner and will go again or get a takeaway.
fantastic meal . food and staff lovely . we picked from pre theatre menu and enough choice on it. good value for the price. wine good too.
Fabulous. Booked on line 1 hour before no problems . Food was great especially Chicken Balti. Very good service will definitely be back and a bonus they do deliveries.
Nice food but starter portion of veg pakora was small. Curry & Naan was lovely. Good service would go back again, didn't need to book.
Food is absolutely delicious! The servings are generous (partner had land chop starter which came with 3 chops). Very comfortable, staff are friendly and polite.
We were seated quickly, there was a choice between the regular menu or pre theatre dinner menu. The food was lovely. Not too expensive either.
The meal was most delicious. It was real authentic Indian style cooking. I live Indian food and have eaten in different parts of the world and the food here was among the best in the UK. Much better than all London fares.
Restaurant ideally situated near Edinburgh Playhouse. Went here after a show. Service was very good as was the meal. A perfect ending to a lovely day out.
I always have lamb dishes when i have an Indian and as i have only frequented 3 different Indian eateries thus far i in Edinburgh i can honestly say the lamb at Passage to India has been the most tender yet and staff great.
Great food and great service. Chicken Korma is amazing. I was in a party of 4 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thank you.
The food was good, my family enjoyed theirs and they have a good pre-theatre menu up until 7:30pm. I'm giving 3* however because I mentioned on the booking that I have coeliac disease (gluten free) and this was just to give them a heads up - I do this now out of experience. When I ordered the waiter obviously had no idea what gluten free even meant and went to check with the chef. He came back and claimed that out of a roughly 100 dish menu all I could eat was one chicken dish and boiled rice. I knew this couldn't be the case and spoke to another waiter who then advised me of more dishes that were gf and it was all fine. Or so I thought, later I was very ill and so obviously the dishes weren't gluten free. If you can't cater for gluten free I gave warning and should have been notified so I could go elsewhere. I will not be returning unfortunately.
Fantastic value and delicious food - topped off by great friendly service - we will definitely be back in the future. Well placed for a pre theatre meal
Initially very quick service. Good tasty. When we wanted to have coffee waiter dismissed us and said it was only instant. Strange. However, an enjoyable meal.
Waited over half an hour for starters, the waiters and service poor, lack of availability of certain drinks. Food however once arrived was very good.
Excellent service and delicious food, will definitely be backand would highly recommend a visit 💟 prices reasonable as well. This little gem has the whole package.
Decent food. Not too expensive. Service was slow-was busy. Well situated for the Playhouse and Omni centre. There is a pre-theatre menu. Could maybe do with a reburbishment.
Great meal, service first class, friendly waiters - hope to go back there before too long. Not too busy when our group of four were in the restaurant , which made conversation easy as some restaurants can be very noisy.
