Nel & Co Bothwell

We went in for breakfast before attending a Santa day with 3 children. We ordered 4x breakfasts and one toast and avocado - there were 5 people in total. We waited an absolute age for the food to come and the kids were starving - the waitress then brought over 3 x breakfasts and the toast and avocado. I advised we were waiting on one more and I was then told that she thought we had only ordered 3 breakfasts and assumed the kids were sharing. This was not questioned or checked at all during the orderigg process, she then said she would get the other one made. It took a further 20 minutes for the breakfast to come which I had to chase and the wee boy whose breakfast it was was in tears. There was no urgency, or offer of something else that might have been quicker etc. I then asked for the bill, which they brought over (and I had been fully charged for everything) and I then asked for the card machine. After waiting another 15 minutes with no card machine being brought over I went down to ask if I could pay and was told that the card machine was out of charge and I would need to go to the front desk! I should have been advised this at the point in time that I asked to pay! Service was absolutely abysmal in there and I will not be rushing back!

The sausages were greasy, couldn't finish them. The yoghurt in the granola was tasteless. Also asked for coffee to be extra hot and it wasn't. Disappointed

Service was pretty poor. The food was mediocre at best l had the eggs Royale the smoked salmon had been tainted by other food smells from the kitchen and the eggs were luke warm. I would not recommend or Go back again

Great atmosphere, lovely food and friendly staff. We were stuffed after lunch so chose to get delicious cakes to take home with us! Would recommend as a great place for a catch up with friends.

No chat from staff, no offer of desert and had to ask for bill as leaving. Lovely meal and no actual issues. Atmosphere slightly lacking

It was a bit noisy, but mainly came from one party of females. Doesn’t put me off returning though.

Went for lunch for the first time with a friend, staff were not very inviting on arrival, We ordered Baked Potato’s with tuna but there was far too much Mayonnaise in it so didn’t enjoy it, Also waited a while for a staff member to come and ask if we wanted anything else, there was no atmosphere in the place so don’t think we will be back

Great food and great atmosphere plus the shop had lots of whiskeys I hadn't seen before definitely be back.

My friend and I had lunch from the Market menu. It was our first visit, and we were made to feel very welcome. The service was friendly and efficient, the food was well-cooked & delicious and our only problem was not having enough room for any of the desserts that we had admired on the way in. We didn't feel rushed either, which was a bonus, as we do like to talk! A good experience, and one we hope to repeat

Had to prompt a member of staff to take our order after waiting longer than expected. Cold scrambled egg on my breakfast order which I would have returned but let it go as did not have time to wait on a replacement. Overall visit ok but anticipated better.

Our 1st visit to Nel & Co Bothwell and certainly won't be our last. Amazing food, service and lovely relaxed atmosphere.

This was my first visit to Nell & Co. I took my friend who was visiting from Norway, and whom I haven't seen for a number of years. We both ordered the Ham salad roll. When cutting into the roll, there was a soggy paper napkin stuck to the base of the roll making the food difficult and very unpleasant to eat. We were constantly removing pieces of paper from each forkful of food. I did tell a member of staff, who, though acknowledging my complaint, did nothing about it. Very disappointed.

The soup was delicious, main meal potatoes cold, kids sandwiches were on really thick bread , baked potato was okay not very warm

I found the restaurant a little noisy but when I looked behind I noticed that the other customers were ALL female....thus the noise !!!

We hadn’t been to this restaurant since the change to Nel & Co. and were using an itison voucher. We had two starters and two mains, wine soft drink snd coffee. There was a great choice of courses and the food was really good. The service was courteous and prompt. I hadn’t realised there was also a lovely deli at the front of the restaurant which was an added surprise. Will definitely be back.

great food, service as slow as a week in jail and have to ask for things multiple times, people are nice at least

Simple food made beautiful. I've never seen Haggis, Neeps and Tatties presented with such neatness and appeal. My wife and I loved the decor of the restaurant. The front and back room are both worth exploring. We enjoyed our courses and the lovely anniversary cheesecake they surprised us with. The food was delicious. If there was anything negative to say about our night it's just that our table was a bit wobbly and I was surprised that the steak and chips was simply Steak, chips and garlic butter (Which went really well with the chips). But as far as steaks go it was terrific
