At Waterfront Studios on Dock Road – close to ExCel London International Exhibition Centre, Royal Victoria DLR station and Emirates cable car station – Nakhon Thai Restaurant is all about elegance whether you’re dining indoors or al fresco. Given London’s rather famous reputation for rain it’s probably more likely you’ll be dining indoors, but do not fear, the main dining area is stylish and equipped with a cocktail bar, and there’s also a lovely and intimate mezzanine area. This restaurant is very possibly one of the most pleasant in Docklands to enjoy Thai cuisine that goes way beyond the London norm.
We say beyond the norm because although Nakhon Thai London makes use of classic Thai ingredients, there’s a definite feel of gourmet with each beautifully-presented plate. You’d be wise to try the himmaparn (stir-fried chicken with cashew), pad phad khing (roasted duck sauteed with mushrooms, pineapple, ginger and spring onion) or the vegetarian Monk’s Delight with green curry, basil and eggplant. Any of those, or anything off the chef’s special menu; they’re nothing short of delightful. Nakhon Thai Restaurant is a gem of Docklands and of London, and its set menus are very much worth a shot as well.
